Scosche Fmtd7 Digital Transmitter Ipod Survey I have used FM transmitters in the past with limited success. The power output was just not enough to overpower local radio broadcasting, and the reception, thus, was just a dismal failure. Therefore, I was a little doubtful that the Scosche would be much different. But I was willing to risk the chance by buying an 'opened but new' version for a very reduced priced. The Scosche has been like a dream. I have thoroughly enjoyed its ability to drown out other local stations with very minor static interference (RFI). I was able to drive through Houston without needing to change the FM signal at all. Of course, finding a clear signal is always the best, but even if my driving enters an area where a broadcasting station is transmitting, the Scosche maintains signal. I obtained this in order to safely listen to podcasts while driving. Podcasts are mostly vocal speaking without lots of music. The frequent pauses in speaking and the breaks between words allow for lots of opportunity to notice background interference with other FM signals. Yet, the Scosche has worked so well at minimizing interference that I am often very surprised to find a full radio station blaring through as soon as I turn the Scosche off. The unit is primarily plastic, and this makes me cautious at its durability. Therefore, I am trying to be very careful with it. There are some 'features' that I have discovered that the unit will do, such as forward/reverse between songs, which the documentation does not cover. But because of the plastic design, I am fearful that frequent use of this would eventually cause something to break or snap. There is also an input (1/8 inch jack) which allows for other non-iPod/iPhone4 devices to be connected. Since upgrading to an iPhone5, I am no longer able to use the charger cord without purchasing an adapter (Apple changed the connector size). Therefore, I have used this input jack thoroughly. Overall, I am very satisfied and happy with this purchase. This is a great unit to use for cars without a aux input. There is a little screen on the unit which shows the name of the song and artist that scrolls. It also shows it on the FM RDS enabled radio. The trick is to find a "clear" station with the least static. It is a trial and error procedure. I recommend this for those without an aux input. After going through a few different FM trasmitters it was nice to finally find something that just worked. The quality is second to none although a little quiet and the ability to display the song and artist on my radio is great. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable, affordable FM transmitter. My son got it for his birthday. He use to have an itrip but before buying another one, I did some research and bought this instead. He says it works well and has a lot less static than the itrip. The thing fell apart still works I had to glue it back together. It is cheaply made. good reception but a little big
