Zildjian Sdwbzb1 Professional Brushes Retractable Survey The Zildjian brushes are very good and do the job well. They're solid and should function for years. I just can't get too excited over a pair of drum brushes. Zildjian is an excellent brand I got these a couple weeks ago, and I have enjoyed using them. For first-time brushes, they were perfect: easy-to-use, quality sound, etc. The only thing I didn't like was that the wires were a little loose. I don't know if they're supposed to be like that (just an amateur) but they seemed too soft at times. I think they could stand to be made a little firmer, but that's about it. These are a lot better than I thought they would be, and I don't have to worry so much about disturbing the neighbors when I practice. I'll confess that I mostly use RegalTip brushes, but these are surprisingly well designed and made. What I love (and what I look for in a retractable brush) is the ease of expelling or retracting the brush wires. The pull rods in this set are smooth and di not bind. As importantly - to me - is the ability to control how much if the brush wires are exposed. I like a full fan on my left brush for the sweep, with a little less fan in my right brush for a more staccato 8th note triplet ostinato. These brushes allow that by holding in ny partial position you set them. Two other things I love are the wire gauge and the balance and feel of the handle. The gauge is what I would call average - not too light that it's only useful for ballads, and not too stiff where you get a scratchy sound instead of a smooth swish on a ballad. The handles have a nice feel and balance. I normally use 7A sticks and the handles have the same thin, light feel that is comfortable to me. On construction, the weakest point for any brushes is the wire bristles. On cheaply made models the bristles will fly out of the tube on fast-tempo songs. These brushes do not have that problem - they are built to last. Bottom line: these are nicely designed and made and are especially suited to the occasional brush player. excellent product. . . it is of the best quality and they are so great that i use them daily with pleasure
