DAY 01 ARRIVAL CHENNAI – MAHABALIPURAM DISTANCE: 50 KMS DRIVING TIME: 01 HR Assistance upon arrival at Chennai airport followed by drive to Mahabalipuram. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. DAY 02 MAHABALIPURAM / KANCHIPURAM / MAHABALIPURAM DISTANCE: 65 KMS DRIVING TIME: 01 & ½ HR (ONE WAY) After breakfast, tour briefing by Luxury India Holidays staff followed by visits of Mahabalipuram. DAY 05 THANJAVUR – TRICHY – MADURAI DISTANCE: THANJAVUR – TRICHY: 57 KMS DRIVING TIME: 01 HR 16 MINUTES; TRICHY – MADURAI: 140 KMS DRIVING TIME: 03 HRS After breakfast, drive to Madurai. En-route visit of Trichy. Trichy has always been a seat of power in South India and it bears the scars of war fought to control it.
Rock Fort temple - The most famous land mark of this bustling town is the Rockfort Temple, a spectacular monument perched on a massive rocky out crop which rises abruptly from the plain to tower over the old city. It was one of the main centers around which the wars of the Carnatic were fought in the 18th century during the British-French struggle for supremacy in India.

Periyar is, due to its location in the lower mountains around 1000 metres above sea level, blessed with numerous types of spices. Consequently, the spice plantation tour is in one of the most important activities outside the reserve that a visitor can engage in. It is an opportunity to see why the Kerala cuisine is so different from most of the other Indian cuisines. DAY 08 PERIYAR After breakfast, Nature walk in Periyar - Different nature trails traversing diverse habitats form the trekking routes, generally 4 to 5 km. in length. This is an interpretive program offering excellent opportunity to watch birds, butterflies and other wildlife. The trails often pass through evergreen and moist deciduous forests interspersed with marshy grasslands. The program is offered for about 3 hours. The Nature walk is the right program to feel nature, hear her whispers and smell her flowers. Evening enjoy Sunset Cruise on the Vembanadu Lake on sharing basis. Cruise along the Vembanadu Lake & through the narrow canals that cress-cross the typical Kerala Village, rich with green paddy fields and verdant coconut trees and is a thrilling experience. The cruise on the motor boat takes you to small islets tucked away amidst those waters where you get glimpses of village at the best of its serenity and innocence. Overnight at the hotel. Cochin is truly a museum city and is found in the most abundant quantities at fort Cochin. Fort Cochin is believed to be the oldest European settlement in India. Vasco Da Gama first arrived in Cochin in 1502. He returned again in1524 as the Portuguese viceroy of the Indies. He died here and was buried in St. Francis church, the first European church in India. DAY 11 COCHIN After breakfast, half city tour of Cochin. Places to visit include
Dutch Palace at Mattancherry.(Friday Closed) The Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town. (Friday & Saturday Holiday) The St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. The Santa Cruz Basilica, originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese. Drive past the Chinese fishing nets which are huge cantilevered nets believed to have been brought to Kochi by Chinese traders.
In the evening see a Kathkali dance drama which is a must while in Cochin.
