Speed Painting focuses on spontaneity, creating from within your mind’s eye, rather than through observation. Several works of art will be produced during this class, all based on a dream, feelings and emotions, an abstract idea, or simply the feeling of well-being.

This workshop is open to both pastel and acrylic artists. You can work in one medium or both. You will learn how to work intuitively and expressively, develop abstract compositions, understand color theory, create both small and large works, develop a series, evaluate your work and know when to stop. Participants will be introduced to the various technical elements and skills used when painting with water soluble oils. This medium can easily be used in conjunction with acrylics. Though our primary focus is to create using water soluble oils, we will also embrace the use of acrylic paint with these unique oils together in composition.

No theatre experience required! Participants in Drawing Scenery and Costumes for Theatre will learn the basics of drawing for the stage. Utilizing PrismaColor pencils, markers, and watercolors, the class will focus on the unique, expressive qualities of stage and costume design based on dramatic literature (The Play).

In this introduction to drawing concentrating on the fundamentals of composition, line, value, perspective, shape, and mark making, artists of all levels will gain skills to better their technical application of the mental image to paper. The class will gain experience in gesture drawing, drawing negative space, drawing positive space, perspective drawing, and curio scuro (light and shadow).

In Landscapes for Everyone, the primary objective is to introduce the artistic tools essential to painting landscapes, seascapes, beach scenes, and mountain-scapes. During the course of the class, we will be drawing what we see from a photograph or from an en plein air experience.

Get CRAFTED with the Arts Council and Downtown Artistry at Legal Remedy Brewing. The Arts Council of York County’s newest art class has students creating works of art in the brewhouse.

Admission includes clay and glaze to create your own CRAFTED project, & one flight of Legal Remedy Brewing’s craft beer.
