The Product and Process Innovation (PAPI) project, delivered by the University of York, encourages innovation and regional economic development by awarding capital grants to small-and-medium-sized businesses to support the development of new products and services. 40% grants are available between £8,000 and £20,000 to businesses in York, North Yorkshire, and Leeds City Region who have project capital expenditure costs of £20,000+ which will lead to the creation of a new product or service and at least one new, full time job. Since PAPI began in 2016, over £4.3m of grants have been awarded, supporting over 260 businesses. This has led to the creation of over 400 new products and over 550 new jobs.
