PRITCHARD - Kaiden James William Pritchard was born at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Friday, July 16, 2004 at 12:04 am to Lisa and Melvin Pritchard. Kaiden was an amazing young man, only 11 years old, yet he lived life to the fullest. Kaiden graduated from preschool in 2008 at the Aboriginal Head Start Program. He attended kindergarten and grade one at Columbia Elementary School then went on to attend school at Dr. Brass grades two through six. Kaiden would have been entering grade seven this fall. Touching many lives at school throughout the years, he had many special relationships and a few favourite teachers including his grade one teacher, Mrs Heshka and his grade six teacher Mrs. Beres. He also had a special relationship with Vice Principal, Mr. Gillis at Dr. Brass. His Mom remembers the day Kaiden phoned home and was so excited, he said, “Mom, Mr. Gilles said me and him are going to be good friends”. Kaiden was a big teddy bear, he had the biggest heart and was so full of love for everyone he met. It didn’t matter what you said or did to him, he forgave you right away. Kaiden was an active little boy; he loved riding his bike everyday. He road all over town and his favourite hangout was the skate park where he met many of his friends. He also liked to go to McDonald’s and Tim Hortons for the wifi. No matter where Kaiden was or what he was doing, he always checked in with his parents many times a day to let them know he was safe and where he was. Kaiden also loved hockey, his favourite team being the Montreal Canadiens (Munchieall), he liked basketball, going for walks with his family and loved his PS4 and Xbox. He liked WWE wrestling, his favourites being Rey Mysterio and Roman Reigns. On Monday and Wednesday evenings he would bike over to the hospital to watch wrestling with his Dad on dialysis nights. Kaiden also loved swimming with his cousin, Christian. Right from birth they were together, they loved playing nerf guns and were partners in crime. A few times the police brought them home together but it was never anything serious. Grandpa Barry used to joke about them and say “You guys better get some good lawyers for them”. They were always there for each other; when Kaiden had his unfortunate accident, Christian was right there with him in the hospital and never left his side. They were definitely inseparable. Kaiden had a special relationship with his sister, Kearra, they were always play fighting and cracking jokes or playing PS4 together. Kaiden also had a few best friends that he made throughout the years, Jeremy, Gary, DJ, Wyatt and Brady. Kaiden loved his family very much, he had so much love for his Mom and Dad and his sister, Kaitlynn, but he was definitely a mamma’s boy. He always told them he loved them many, many times throughout the day. He loved all his grandparents very much, he would always make sure his Grandma was okay. His last words to everyone was, “I Love You” - that’s just who Kaiden was. He will be remembered for his most infectious laugh and a smile that lit up the room. Kaiden attended church regularly and prayed for all those he felt needed God’s help. He recently announced that he had a checklist of four things he wanted to do in life. First, was to forgive everyone who hurt him and that if he had hurt anyone that they would forgive him as well. Second, was please God forgive me for my sins. Third, was to be baptized and he was on November 11, 2015 in Jesus’ name. And finally, the fourth, was to live for Jesus for the rest of his life. He truly did accomplish everything on his list. Kaiden always talked about heaven and what it would be like. He truly knew what it would take to get there. We know Kaiden is now an angel watching over us all. He was a beautiful, beautiful boy. Kaiden was predeceased by his Grandma, Jacki-lynn Nepinak; his great-grandparents, Alice and William Pritchard and John Balabuch; his great-uncle, David Pritchard and cousins. He is survived by his Mom, Lisa and Dad, Melvin; sisters, Kearra and Kaitlynn; Grandma, Lucille; Grandpas, Albert Eagle and Barry Balabuch; uncles, Matthew, Jason (Nadine), Sean and Seamus; aunties, Rena, Kayla (Kyle) and Jade. Kaiden is also survived by numerous half uncles and aunties and his many cousins, family and friends. The Wake commenced on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from the Friendship Centre, Yorkton, SK with Ricky Flamont leading services each evening. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from the Yorkton Friendship Centre officiated by Ricky Flamont. Friends and family members shared musical tributes in Kaiden’s memory and a taped music selection of “Go Rest High on the Mountain” was played as the closing song. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery, Yorkton, SK with Sean, Seamus, Jason, Matthew, Dwayne, Leerick, Tylor, Jeff, Lil Daniel and Cameron serving as the casket bearers. The Honourary Pall bearers were Jeremy Wasacase, Christian Pritchard, Gary Strongquill, Enrique Hilaire, Ezekial Pritchard, D.J. Pelly, Monica Eagle, Kearra Kayee-Shingoose, Kaylyn Morin, Lonnie Cote, Mr. Ron Gillis, Thomas Pritchard, Eli Kayseas, as well as Kaiden’s Skate Park Buddies & Numerous Friends. MAAHS - Howard Maahs, beloved husband of Clara of Springside, passed away peacefully the morning of July 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Care Home in Melville after a two year battle with Dementia and other complications. Howard was born on Feb. 26, 1941 in Yorkton to Lambert and Katie Maahs of Springside. He was raised on the family farm in the Springside district and received his education at Windsor School and then started farming. In the early 60’s, Howard and his brother Harry would often cruise to Winnipeg, where they met the two “Fry” sisters and the romance was on! Howard and Clara were united in marriage on Oct 12, 1963 and enjoyed 52 years together until his passing. After they married they continued to farm and the children started to arrive. They were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Howard also managed the Cargill elevator in Orcadia for 14 years until it closed. He then returned to farming full time until failing health took him away from it. Howard was a man that could fix anything or would build anything. No need to call anyone when you can fix it yourself! He could always tell a good story about the old days or a current event, not necessarily accurate, as they were coffee row stories, but they always had you laughing. He liked to go fishing, hunting and curling in his younger years. The Maahs’ even had their own curling team. Dad was known for his takeout shot. You did not want to get in the way of that rock, it was going to fly! We all had sweaters with “MAAHS” on our back. Grandma Fry knitted them for all of us, so everyone knew we were a team to be reckoned with. One of his best inventions that all of us kids enjoyed was the zip line. He designed this from the top of the hill, running through mom’s garden, to the tree at the end of the field. These were fun times we had with our cousins, but moms’ corn didn’t do too well. Once the grandkids were older, there were lots of wiener roasts, bonfires at night, rides on the tractor, or letting the boys drive the truck with some help and quading. He was starting to slow down, but always kept them entertained. In later years, Howard and Clara enjoyed coffee nights at A & W and Wendy’s visiting with friends. Also, he took on the job of counsellor for the R.M. of Orkney for a few terms which supposedly gave us the best roads in the area! Howard was predeceased by his brother Harry in 1972, his father Lambert in 1979, his mother Katie in 1981 and his brother Jim in 1986. He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life his loving wife Clara, his children, son Jeffrey of Springside, son Heath (Dianna) of Dalmeny, SK and their children Benjamin and Charlie, daughter Louise (Kenny) of Yorkton, SK and their fur babies Henderson and Lucy and son Kurtis (Bev) of Chemainus, BC. His sister Judy Adamson of Yorkton, sisters-in-law Carol Maahs of Yorkton, Sherrin Shadforth of Cobble Hill, BC as well as many loving nieces (yes, Suzette was his favourite:), nephews and many other friends. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from the Springside Baptist Church in Springside with Pastor Richard Kauenhofen officiating. Pastor Mike Anderson read from scripture, and pianist, Diane Jones led in the hymns ‘How Great Thou Art’, ‘It Is Well With My Soul’ and ‘Precious Lord, Take My Hand’. Son Kurtis gave the eulogy and daughter Louise was the urn bearer. Memorials were to St. Paul Lutheran Home. Condolences can be left at baileysfuneralhome.com.

PLAN OF THE WEEK
PLAN NUMBER 5-2685 TRADITIONAL CHARM Although the exterior finishes of this attractive bungalow lend it a traditional charm, inside it offers all the modern conveniences that today’s home-owner requires. Entry is through a covered porch with an 11-foot ceiling, into a foyer with the same lofty ceiling height. To the
right is a doorway to the double garage. To the left is the den or second bedroom, and nearby is a coat closet. Directly ahead are the open-plan living- dining area and kitchen. The living room features a gas fireplace, set at an angle in one corner to save space, as well as large windows. The adjoining dining area includes French doors that open onto a patio,
with the back garden beyond. The L-shaped counter configuration in the kitchen, separated from the living and dining areas by a prep island, will spell efficiency for the cook. The window over the double sink will let in lots of natural light. A nook off the living area encloses the washer and dryer. The master suite, located at the back of
the home for privacy, includes a roomy walk-in closet and a three-piece en-suite. Adjacent is a second three-piece bathroom. Exterior finishes include decorative woodwork over the garage door, horizontal siding, and shingle accents in the gables, as well as brick accents and painted trim. This home measures 39 feet wide and 42 feet deep, for a total of 1,037 square feet of living space. Plans for design 5-3685 are available for $555 (set of 5), $605 (set of 8) and $645 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges. Our NEW 48TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is available for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and handling).
