DOBKO - Tyler Patrick Dobko, beloved son of Patrick and Michelle Dobko (nee Dunlop) passed away suddenly and tragically on Saturday, September 24, 2016. He was 29 years of age. Tyler was born at the Yorkton Union Hospital on May 20, 1987. Tyler was fortunate to have two older sisters, Kari Ann and Tara Lea, who very eagerly helped Mom & Dad look after this young bundle of energy. Tyler received his K-7 education at St. Mary’s School and his 8-12 at Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton. Tyler was an active member of the Yorkton Zion 8th Scouts. Scouts was where he got involved in outdoor survival, camping, rocketry and many other activities. During his Scouting he attended the 10th Canadian Scout Jamboree in PEI in 2001. As a result of his commitment to the promotion of Canada and Canadian values, he was awarded the Canada Day Youth Award in 2001. Fishing, public speaking, skate boarding, skiing, snowmobiling, quading, biking and spending time with his family rounded out Tyler’s spare time. His dexterity and hand-eye coordination was evident at an early age. He would take things apart and rebuild them; play games and handle all mechanical devices with unbelievable skill. These skills lead to Tyler tinkering and fixing everything he could get his hands on. Although he had many different jobs throughout his short life, Tyler’s abilities and skills always brought him back home to work with his Dad. He polished the skills he needed in carpentry and flooring, which he loved doing. Tyler was a very loving, caring and compassionate soul. He was more than what people saw on the outside. He really truly cared about what you thought and how you felt. Tyler went out of his way to help family, friends and also people whom he never even met. He always knew what to say in any situation and he had a way of knowing when he was needed. Since he has been gone, many people have come forward to let us know how truly special he was to them and that he has helped them in more ways than they can describe. This is a true affirmation of his character and it makes his family so very proud to have had him as part of our lives, even though it was way too short of a time. Tyler is predeceased by his Baba Christine Dobko, Maternal & Paternal Great-Grandparents. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory; loving parents Patrick & Michelle Dobko, his two sisters, Kari (Cortney) Matkowski and their children, Tristen, Mason & Kaydence; Tara (Darren) Colby and their daughter Braeya. Grandparents John & Alice Dunlop, Grandfather Walter Dobko, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Prayer Vigil was held on Sunday, October 2, 2016. A special musical selection was played ‘Jealous of the Angels’ by Jenn Bostic. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, October 3, 2016 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. Wanda Woroschuk served as the cross bearer. The urn bearers were Aaron Vanhouwe and Jesse Coles. The pianist Chris Fisher with members of the parish choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns ‘Morning Has Broken’, Psalm 138, ‘On Eagle’s Wings’, ‘The Lord is My Hope’, ‘Song of the Angels’ and ‘Glory and Praise to Our God’. The Lectors were Jane Senger, Rick Dobko and Rhonda Bishop. Cortney Matkowski and Darren Colby served as gift bearers. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by Cortney Matkowski. Interment will follow at a later date. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials honouring Tyler’s life may be made to Scouts Canada as gifts of remembrance. LIEBRECHT - STOLL - Jordan Trey Liebrecht - Stoll. October 20, 1998 - September 24, 2016. Jordan Trey Liebrecht Stoll was taken from us unexpectedly on September 24, 2016 at the age of 17. Jordan was born on October 20, 1998 at 8:41 pm: the son of Kelly and Wendy (Liebrecht) Stoll. In 2001 Jordan became a proud older brother to Madison Faith. Jordan was baptised and confirmed in the Rhein Christ Lutheran Church. He graduated from YRHS in June 2016 — a day he had waited for since kindergarten. Jordan’s passion for farming came at an early age. Gramps (Grandpa Garry) and Uncle Chad taught him everything he knew about farming. He was their shadow. Uncle Chad spent countless hours with his boy. Jordan looked up to him so much and was always eager to learn more. Whenever combining rolled around, Jord jumped in with G-Ma (Grandma Darlene) eager to run the combine himself; even though he was only eight years old, he figured he could do it. If Jordan was not with his family, he always had a friend with him; everyone loved his companionship. He never wanted to miss out on any of his cousins’ functions. He was a very strong family man - - family ties meant everything to him. He loved spending summer at the lake. Uncle Mike taught Jordan how to golf and it turned into one of his passions. He never missed a chance to hit the golf course. He looked forward to sledding in the winter and his annual trips to the mountains. Gramps and Jordan drove around all the time and when Jordan turned 16, it was Jordan’s turn to drive Gramps around. Uncle Jarret was Jordan’s role model and no matter where there was a game, Jordan would never miss a road trip with his Grandma and Grandpa Stoll. Jordan loved playing mini sticks with Nash and loved watching Zach play hockey. He never missed a chance to go on the road with Uncle Mike and Aunty Krissa. Jordan was the proud Godfather to Oliver. Gma was his best friend. They had an unbreakable bond from birth to his last day. He was a very protective, loving brother to his sister Madison. They always found a way to connect, whether they were watching movies, cruising to pick up ice coffees or snacks, or Jordan was giving Madison a ride to a friend’s house. Their bond was one of a kind. Even though he would never admit it, Madison had him wrapped around her finger. Jordan recently bought his dream truck and loved showing it off; this truck will stay with their family in memory of him. Jordan had been planning to start a career alongside his dad as soon as he turned 18. He was ready to start the next chapter of his life. He loved going to his dad’s work in the morning for coffee and morning chats and texted him “good morning” every day. Jordan never missed an opportunity to tell his parents that he loved them. Jordan was always checking in on his mom to make sure she was doing okay; she was always there for him. She was his “Mama Bear”. Jordan always welcomed everyone with open arms. His contagious smile and infectious laugh will be missed. Madison will miss most of all his grin. Jordan is predeceased by his great-grandparents Joe and Victoria Exner, Wilbert Stoll; Edwin Liebrecht, Mike and Dot Kozoswyst and uncles Peaky Kozoswyst and Hoss Letwiniuk. Left to celebrate his life are his parents, Kelly and Wendy (Liebrecht) Stoll, his sister Madison, grandparents Tim and Sherri Stoll; Great-Grandma Doreen Stoll; Uncle Jarret Stoll (and friend Erin Andrews); Aunt Ashley Wilson, Madyn and Nash; grandparents Garry and Darlene Liebrecht; Great-Grandma Martha Liebrecht; Uncle Jeffery (Pam) Liebrecht, Justin, Jaicee, Justin, Taggert; Aunt Krissa (Mike) McIntyre, Zachary, Avery, Brenna; Uncle Chad (Erin) Liebrecht, Delanie, Noah, Oliver; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and everyone who knew him. A visitation for family and friends was held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from the Flexi Hall of the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton with Pastor Karen Stepko of Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein officiating. Jordan’s cousins, Jaicee Farber and Avery McIntyre read his obituary. Jordan’s sister, Madison gave a tribute and words of remembrance. Special recorded music was “Farewell” by Denace, “Jealous of the Angels” by Donna Taggart, “Amazing Grace” by Alan Jackson and “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa. Honourary Bearers were Chad Liebrecht, Jarret Stoll, Mike McIntyre and Hunter Arnold. Interment followed in the Christ Lutheran Church Parish Cemetery with Justin Liebrecht, Tyler Stratechuk, Lukas Muir, Jake Lutz, Dawson Stefanyshyn, Calin Bugera, Blaise Zrudlo, Zach McIntyre, Dylan Minke and Kyle Lutz serving as casket bearers. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com Memorials in memory of Jordan may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or toward Minor Sports in Rhein or Yorkton. YACYSHYN - Yvette was born on February 11, 1962 at Kamsack, SK; a daughter of Lena (nee Marchuk) and Tom Yacyshyn. She grew up in Pelly until the age of five, then moved to Churchbridge, where she attended elementary school. At age 17 Yvette moved to Yorkton where she attended the Regional High School. After graduation she began working at Shoppers Drug Mart from 1980 to 1989, then worked at Sherman’s Drug Mart for a brief time. Then in 1990 she moved to Melville and began working at St. Paul Lutheran Home, where she enjoyed taking care of her elders and met many life-long friends. At the age of 39, Yvette was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. She remained in remission for 10 years before it reappeared throughout her body. She continued to fight the disease with all her strength until she lost the battle on Sunday, September 25, 2016. During her marriage, Yvette was blessed with a son, Serge, whom she loved and adored. Her biggest joy in life was cheering him on in the many sports he participated in, including Motocross racing. Serge was her greatest joy in life and it tore her to pieces to leave him. Predeceased by her parents, Tom Yacyshyn (2002) and Lena Yacyshyn (2013), as well as several aunts and uncles, Yvette leaves to cherish her memory her son Serge of Yorkton; her brothers: Dwayne (Brenda) of Regina; Dwight (Maryann) of Yorkton; sisters: Yvonne (Alvin) Dyer of Calgary and Debby (Larry) Demers of Coombs, BC; nieces and nephews: Noel & Nicole Dyer of Calgary; Cody & Mitchell Yacyshyn of Yorkton; also a great-niece, Chloe Dyer of Calgary; as well as her many other relatives and friends. Special music for the service was provided by Ray Sedley & Norm Sharp. The interment followed in the Garden of Memories with son Serge as the urn bearer. Condolences can be left at baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials were to Palliative Care Programs at the YRHC or to St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville.

KURUCZ - John Anthony Leslie Kurucz passed away peacefully on September 24, 2016 at the Langenburg Centennial Care Home with his daughters by his side. John was born January 13, 1921 in the Cana District to parents Mike and Rose (nee Kormos) Kurucz. When John was in his teens, his family moved to the Bredenbury District and he started working as a farm labourer until he enlisted into the Army in July 1942 at the age of 22. John trained in Regina and Shiloh, MB before embarking to England in December 1942. John served in the Canadian 5th Armoured Division as a antiaircraft gunner. He was part of the Italian Campaign and travelled through Holland, Belgium and France before returning to England. After his discharge, John continued working as a farm labourer for farmers in the Churchbridge area to gain knowledge of farming before establishing his own. On June 21, 1957, John married the love of his life, Hildagarde Becker and they settled on the farm six miles south of Churchbridge. In 1966, he relocated his farm one mile west of Churchbridge. John and Hilda were blessed with four children; Susan, Sharon, Ellen and Darin. In 1974, due to illness, he had to retire from farming and moved his family into Churchbridge. In 2001, John and Hilda moved to Queen Elizabeth Court in Yorkton and in December 30, 2011, he became a resident of the Langenburg Centennial Care Home. John was a faithful man who made sure his family attended church every Sunday, usually sitting in the front row. He was a member of the Langenburg Legion for many years and our memories are of the many Remembrance Day services in Langenburg where they would march from the Legion to the gym and the socializing at the Legion afterwards. He was involved in his children’s sporting activities, coaching baseball and hockey. He was always willing to play catch with his children and give them his advice while they practised their pitching skills. After moving into Churchbridge, John became the ice caretaker at the Old Curling Rink. One of our childhood memories is picturing our father skipping down the ice backwards while pebbling the ice. The family also ran the Curling Rink kitchen for a number of years. John loved gardening and watching the Blue Jays and Riders. In his later years he took up golfing. Ellen and her father enjoyed many golfing games together. He loved family gatherings and playing horseshoes. He especially loved gatherings with his brothers and sisters, which were always a lot of laughs! He loved his seven grandchildren and especially loved his visits with great-grandsons, Mason and Jorian. John was a loving husband and father and a very hard worker who was always willing to help anybody in need. He was well known for his wit and humour. The staff at the Care Home enjoyed his wit very much! John was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Rose; his loving wife of 57 years, Hilda; brothers, Mike, Joe, Henry and Albert; sisters, Rose, Matilda, Brigetta, Edith, Margaret and Agnes; many brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw. He is survived by his loving children; Susan Kurucz, Sharon (Joe) Andrade, Ellen (Terry) Spilchen and Darin (Sally) Kurucz; his grandchildren, Matthew (Rachelle) Andrade, Ashley and Danielle Andrade, Jasmine and Joshua Spilchen, Darion and Faith (Devon) Kurucz; greatgrandsons, Mason and Jorian; his brothers, Edward (Marjorie) Kurucz and Leslie (Signe) Kurucz; his brother-in-law, Erwin Becker and brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Erna Hutchings along with many nieces and nephews. A Prayer Service was held on Friday, September 30, 2016 from Trinity Lutheran Church in Churchbridge, SK. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from Trinity Lutheran Church in Churchbridge with Pastor Jeff Dul officiating. The organist, Vallery Putland, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”, “Jesus, Lead Thou On” and “In Christ Alone”. The Interment Service followed in the Churchbridge Town Cemetery, Churchbridge, SK with Darin Kurucz, Matthew Andrade, Joshua Spilchen, Joe Andrade, Terry Spilchen, Barry Kurucz and Garry Vanderhaeghe serving as the casket bearers. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

HILDERMAN Mr. Kenneth Hilderman of Yorkton, formerly of Rhein, beloved husband of Rita Hilderman, passed away peacefully on September 24 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. Ken Arnold Hilderman was born on February 2, 1934 on the family farm in the Rhein District. He was the second child born to Jacob and Emilie (nee Propp) Hilderman. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein. In Ken’s youth he was known as a terrific ball player, he attended Federhill School, west of Rhein, and he loved working on the family farm. He enjoyed spending time with the “gang”, the Riffels, Els boys, the Propp cousins and the Bonnets. In early 1956, Ken was out on a date for supper at the Boston Café in Yorkton when his eyes locked on to a pretty young waitress, Miss Rita Frick. Ken & Rita were engaged 3 weeks later. We are not sure what happened to Ken’s date. Rita saw Ken only 6 times over the next year, as he was working for Pioneer Grain Co. at elevators around western Saskatchewan. They were married on Easter Sunday, April 21, 1957 and then immediately went to Pennant, SK where Ken was given two Pioneer Elevators to manage. Ken & Rita made many friends in that area, many of whom are still close and are in contact to this day. It was here that Barry was born in 1958 and Linda in 1962. In 1964, Ken took his family back to his home town of Rhein, where he took over the Pioneer Elevator there and became active again on the family farm. In 1967, Ken took ill with kidney problems that kept him in the hospital for two months. Rita was sure she could have lost him then. Jason was then born in 1968 in Yorkton, to complete Ken’s perfect family. Ken came through this illness, left the elevator business and took over the family farm in 1969. He supplemented his income in the early years by working at the mine in Thompson, MB and running the R. M. road grader in winter for a couple of years. He also worked for Ray Bilous Construction, but that was mainly so that he could buy himself a new fishing boat. Ken was a great farmer and he could hardly wait to get out on the land every spring. He always improved the farm as necessary and he could always pinch a penny. Somehow, some way, he managed to farm until 1987 before owning his first grain truck. His hopper boxes saw a lot of miles through those years. Kens first tractor with a cab was a 1972 Case 1070, without air conditioning, because that cost an extra $280. For four years, Ken and Barry found out that $280 was a mere pittance compared to the sweat that was put out in that hot box. Ken never made that mistake again! Ken made sure that his family always got some kind of a holiday, even if it was just a long weekend to camp in Banff surrounded by his beloved mountains. Ken fished a lot and he always included his kids. Every time that Ken and Rita had spare moments, the camper and boat would be hooked up and off they would go to discover new lakes and fishing holes. Rocky Lake, MB was always a favourite. Every winter since 1984, they went south, California, Texas and Hawaii, but most often to their favourite motel in Kissimmee, FL, at which they actually weathered a record setting hurricane one year. Ken spent many years on church council at Christ Lutheran, was a long time member of the Rhein Lions Club and was always involved in the community. He was a great woodworker. He built many pieces of furniture, built a few grain bins and was responsible for at least eight hip roof storage sheds. One example being at the parsonage in Rhein. “Hey there Sweetheart”, was the first thing that he would say when Rita would come into the room. Ken loved making jokes and he always wanted to make people laugh. He had a fantastic memory to the end. His family relied on him to remember a date, place, function or name. He remembered it all. Ken did everything that he wanted to do and he did it well. Ken was blessed. Some would say that he was the luckiest man in the world because he had the girl of his dreams. Rita was his best friend. He looked after her and gave her his all and Rita gave all back. Barry, Linda and Jason could have no better example in the world of what a perfect marriage and God-given union should be. Ken always thought of Rita first. They were best buddies. Ken’s faith in Jesus his Savior got him through many of life’s trials and he never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could hope for. His family was blessed. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Emilie, his brother Irvin, sister-in-law, Martha (nee Weber) Hilderman, daughter-in-law Claudette (nee Pasloski) Hilderman and his infant sister Delmarie. He leaves to mourn his wife Rita, son Barry (Treena), daughter, Linda Anderson (Howard), son Jason. Grandchildren; Sara-Lynn Soke (Kelly Hancock), Jana Schmidt (Kyle), Samantha Vickers (Andrew), Christen Hilderman (Jesse Barbour) and Dani Anderson. Brother Lawrence (Diana), sister Charlotte, brother-in-law Richard Frick, as well as 4 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral Service were held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Pastor Karen Stepko officiating. The organist, Joleen Cherland led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “Blessed Assurance”, “It is Well with My Soul” and “How Great Thou Art”. Soloist, Ray Yost sang a special hymn, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”. A special poem tribute by Rita Hilderman and hymn sung by Ray Yost was shared in the service. Scripture readings were given by Sara-Lynn Soke, Jana Schmidt and Samantha Vickers. The honourary bearers were Ervin Stricker, Garry Liebrecht, Richard Frick, Lawrence Hilderman, Lloyd Hilderman, Stuart Greenstein, Brad McLaren, Dick Braun and Gord Muth. The interment took place in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Kyle Schmidt, Kelly Hancock, Andy Vickers, Jesse Barbour, Grant Pister and Barron Stricker serving as the casket bearers. The family wishes to extend thanks to Yorkton & District Nursing Home - Malinowski House for the wonderful and compassionate care that Ken received during his time spent there. Many thanks to Dr. Lee for the years of care and to the caring team at the Dialysis Department at Yorkton Health Centre. Memorial donations honouring Ken’s life may be made to the Yorkton & District Nursing Home - Malinowski House. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com.

He was there...a firm foundation when times were good and bad, He was the one, we called Dad. -Lovingly remembered, sadly missed by your family. WARD - In loving memory of Gunna Ward. Aug. 29, 1934 - Oct. 5, 2015. Thank you Lord for five and a half blessed years with Gunna. When I make that last inevitable ride, Gunna put aside your timidness of horses and come welcome me home. -Love Ted.

PLAN OF THE WEEK

Open Houses

PLAN NUMBER 1-3-667 PLENTY OF ROOM FOR GROWTH With its three-vehicle garage and optional unfinished basement, this appealing threebedroom home features plenty of room for future growth. The front entry is sheltered by a covered verandah with a lofty 11-foot ceiling, which continues into the foyer and great room. Directly ahead is the great room,

where French doors open on to a covered deck, also with an 11-foot ceiling, overlooking the back garden. The gas fireplace is flanked by built-in shelving. Separated from the great room by a work island and four-seat eating bar are the dining area and kitchen, with nine-foot ceilings. The dining area enjoys large windows that look out to the sundeck, an extension of the covered

deck. The kitchen pantry is tucked into the angle made by the L-shaped staircase that leads to the optional basement. The laundry room is conveniently located between the extra-large garage and the kitchen, and includes a coat cupboard. The garage includes an exit to the side garden, as well as the laundry room. In the sleeping wing, all ceilings measure nine feet. The master

suite overlooks the back garden and includes an en-suite with a soaker tub as well as a shower stall. Double basins will ease the morning rush hour. The two secondary bedrooms look out to the front garden and share a three-piece bathroom and a linen closet. Brick accents enliven the facade’s horizontal siding, and wooden shingles decorate the gables. Partly mullioned windows add a touch of oldfashioned charm. This home measures 64 feet wide and 65 feet, six inches deep, for a total of 1,799 square feet. Plans for design 1-3667 are available for $755 (set of 5), $815 (set of 8) and $863 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges. Our NEW 48TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is available for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and handling).
