KOHUT - Mr. John Kohut of Calder passed away peacefully on March 11, 2017 at the Langenburg Care Home following a heroic battle with Dementia. He was 71 years of age. John was born on May 28, 1945 at Queen Victoria Hospital in Yorkton, the first child to Nick and Elsie Kohut (nee Stasko). John was raised on the family farm attended and graduated high school in Calder where very fond memories of classmates and activities were established. John recollected memories and spoke proudly of for as long as he was able. Being part of his curling team, shooting marbles and of course the pretty girls were his favourites. While attending high school, John worked part-time at both the Calder and Wroxton Post Office. After graduation he took a position in management training with Woolworth’s which led him to Estevan. John then decided on a career change with Crane Supply, a wholesale plumbing company, which took him to Brandon and eventually to Winnipeg. Starting on the loading dock, John spent the next 36 years with the company working his way to office positions in shipping, sales and preparing quotations. When company downsizing came about, John went to work for the competitor, Emco Supply and on a part-time basis with H & R Block preparing tax returns. This led to John launching his own home based tax service. Upon retirement, John came back to his hometown of Calder. John enjoyed all sports, especially curling, which he continued in his adult life, travelling to bonspiels as far as the U.S. He compiled a collection of music which was also his great enjoyment. John will be remembered for his huge and generous heart, his kind and easygoing personality. His ‘never say no’ attitude to help with any task and above all that big smile he had for everyone that was lucky enough to cross his path. John was predeceased by his father Nick in 1982 and his mother Elsie in 2016. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Gloria, brother Carl (Shirley), nephews Brad, Derek (Kenda), their children Brayden, Josh-lynn and Tayja and niece Ashley (Derek). The Funeral Service was held at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre on Friday, March 17, 2017 with Doreen Day, Certified Celebrant officiating. Musical Selections included in the service were “Raining in My Heart”, “Are you Mine” and “True Love Ways”. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Ashley Kohut, Tony Katyrynuik, Eugene Katyrynuik, Derek Kohut, Brad Todd and Maryanne Katyrynuik serving as casket bearers. Memorials honouring John’s life may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Langenburg Centennial Care Home as gifts of remembrance. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com
KOLODZIEJSKI - Mrs. Bernice Kolodziejski of Yorkton, beloved wife of John Kolodziejski, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 20, 2017 at the Regina General Hospital. Bernice was born on January 28, 1926 in Lanowce, Poland to Ignace and Mary Yurkowski. She was the second of five children, Joseph, John, Stan and Vicki. Bernice, along with her mother and brother Joe, came by ship from Poland to Canada to join her father in Lanigan, SK. Memories of her trip overseas include having her hair shaved off and being plagued with motion sickness the entire time. She grew up in Lanigan, attending school there through to grade 12. Once she finished high school she attended normal school in Saskatoon and in turn achieved her teacher certification. She was then off to Pierceland to her very first teaching job. What an adventure going so far away from home! She enjoyed her time there, creating many wonderful memories. Later on Bernice decided a career change was needed and she went to Dauphin, MB to work for the Toronto Dominion Bank, making many new friends and new memories. But eventually teaching called her back and she returned to Saskatchewan and began teaching in Tuffnell. It was here that she met the love of her life, John Kolodziejski. Bernice and John were married in a country church outside of Lanigan on November 21, 1950. The wedding reception and dance followed in Tuffnell. Bernice and John recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary with their family in their home in Yorkton. Their first home was in Tuffnell where Bernice continued teaching up until the birth of their first child, Ron. Soon after Bernice and John moved to their own farm and Terry joined the family. Bernice continued her teaching career, with Ron staying with her parents, Terry staying with John’s parents and John working very hard to make their farm business a success. Eventually Bernice decided her lifelong career would be that of a wife and mother, with Bob and Shelley joining the family. Bernice was a very busy wife and mother, raising four children, growing a garden, cooking and cooking AND cooking! When the work was done, she enjoyed curling, playing many hours of 3 spot and visiting with family and friends. In 1976 Bernice started on a new path in life, becoming a grandmother to Kristy, followed by Kelly, Bryan, Sean and Leah. This was yet another new and exciting adventure, consisting of impromptu dances in the living room (music courtesy of Profile), going on picnics, reading books and playing cards, school and hairdresser. On her 80th birthday, Bernice celebrated becoming a great-grandmother to Kennedy, adding even more joy to her life. In 2004, Bernice and John retired to Yorkton, enjoying a quieter life together. Throughout her life, her deep devotion and faith in God, guided her in all that she did. Even after mobility problems prevented church attendance, daily Mass on television was never missed. Bernice was predeceased by her parents, Ignace and Mary; her husband’s parents, Walter and Amelia; her brothers, Joseph and John; and her in-laws, Tom, Norbert and Sharon. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband, John; children, Ron (Linda), Terry (Carla), Bob (Patty), Shelley (Angus); grandchildren, Kristy (Michael), Kelly (Andrew), Bryan (Janine), Sean (Bailey), Leah; greatgrandchild, Kennedy; brother, Stan (Joan) and sister, Vicki (Jim); sistersin-law, Mary and Anne, and brother-in-law, Henry (Lucy) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Prayers were held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. Reflections of Bernice’s Life were shared by Bryan and Sean Kolodziejski. The cross bearer was Joe Bisschop and the gift bearers were Ann & Joe Neskar. The readers were Patty Kolodziejski and Ann Kereluik. Serving as accompanists were Lorraine Lysak (Vigil) and Colleen Bourne (Mass). Members of St. Gerard’s Choir sang the hymns, “This Alone”, “Psalm 40”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “You are Near”, “Song of the Angels” and “How Great Thou Art”. Serving as urn bearers were Kristy Josephson, Bryan Kolodziejski, Leah Kolodziejski, Sean Kolodziejski and Kennedy Josephson. A tribute from granddaughter Kelly Kolodziejski from Australia was played at the memorial luncheon. Memorials honouring Bernice’s life may be made to St. Gerard’s Church or a Charity of Choice. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com.

Mervin was born on December 28, 1947 at the Yorkton Hospital. He was the only son of Leslie and Edith Guy (nee Thompson). Mervin grew up in the Parkerview district and then moved with his family to the farm at Jedburgh. His schooling was at Jedburgh and then was bussed to Ituna. He decided that school was not his thing to do, so he took up farming with his dad. On May 29, 1981 he was married to Shirley Harvey of the Wroxton district and they were blessed with two sons, Keith and Kevin. They were Mervin’s pride and joy. He involved them in everything with the farm, from taking them to bull sales, to purchasing things for the farm. He taught and encouraged his family to make their own decisions in life and then to follow through with whatever their plans and dreams were. In his younger years, he loved to ski-doo and play hockey. Later in life, he enjoyed going fishing as it was a favourite pastime. He was happy and very much enjoyed when his neighbour would ask him to do some type of farming job. When he was not helping the neighbour, he was caring for his large yard, tending to the garden and flowers. A smile came over his face when someone came over to visit. In later years of life, Mervin & Shirley enjoyed going for drives, they never knew where they would end up. Mervin was predeceased by his father, Les and his only sister, Deanna and niece, Kym Fenske. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Shirley; two sons: Keith (Lisa) of Coronach, SK and Kevin of Lacombe, AB. His mother, Edith Guy of the Theodore Nursing Home and a brother-in-law, Herman Fenske of Theodore. Also his special companion, his dog Maysee. WILSON - Mr. Lloyd Wilson of Good Spirit Lake, beloved husband of Marjorie Wilson, passed away on March 18, 2017 at the age of 82 years. Donald Lloyd Wilson was born on September 7, 1934 at Indian Head, SK. He was one of 9 children born to Horace & Ella (Wright) Wilson. He received his education at Kenlis School and Tipperary School and then went to high school in Balcarres. Lloyd started his employment at the Coop Refinery in Regina, a position which he held for 37 years from 1956 until June 1993. On September 12, 1959 he married the love of his life, Marjorie Berrns of Springside. They lived and worked in Regina until their retirement and then moved to Good Spirit Lake where they spent many happy years. He was predeceased by his parents, Ella & Horace Wilson; sisters Leith, Annie and Grace and his brother Leonard. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; his sisters Helen Morton of Fort St. John, BC, Alice Bedel of Fort Qu’Appelle and Fern Sandercock of Balcarres; brother Ken of Yorkton and brother-in-law Gordon Berrns of Yorkton, plus numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He and Marjorie, as well as Bill & Joyce Anaka and Ray & Dorothy Riesz took part in the official bird count done annually in their area. He loved nature and took countless pictures of animals, sunrises and sunsets and captured the beauty of Good Spirit Lake. He was an avid gardener and always had a vegetable garden and their yard was filled with an abundance of amazing flowers. He especially loved growing tomatoes and would end up giving most of them away to family and friends. Lloyd and Marjorie were Saskatchewan Roughrider season ticket holders for many years and did not miss very many games. One of Lloyd’s wishes was to be able to see the new stadium, but sadly, he never had the chance. Lloyd loved animals and looked forward to the winter time when the deer would visit their yard. He would give them the occasional treat and they returned, year after year. He totally enjoyed his beloved cat, Orangey and had a soft spot in his heart for the many stray cats that seemed to appear on his doorstep. The family of the late Elva Murray would like to express sincere thanks to family and friends for kindness and support during Mom’s last days with us. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the staff of Lakeside Manor Care Home for the care given to Mom during her stay there as a resident. A special thank you to Walter Farquharson for his words and presiding at the Memorial Service for our Mother. We acknowledge Ruth Datema, organist; Linda Datema;, soloist; and choir for their musical contribution. Also, thanks to family, friends and neighbours for the gifts of flowers, food, cards, memorial donations and expressions of condolences. Prior to her death Elva wrote in a note for her family: “Don’t be sad; I have lived a long and full life. I have been blessed.” -The Murray Family
Two years have passed since we said goodbye to a special woman who's smile lit up the room while her laugh filled it. We find comfort in the memories - the milestones, helping each other through tough times, proud moments and the laughter that we shared. Even though you are no longer here, you continue to be part of each new memory as we always think about what would Adeline/Mom have said or done or how proud would Adeline/Mom be..... We miss you dearly and cherish each memory we share. We know you are that bright light that shines down on us. "Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."

PLAN OF THE WEEK
The second bedroom is adjacent to a threepiece bathroom, while the third bedroom, which can double as a den, overlooks the front garden and contains a builtin desk. The laundry room includes a handy shelf, as well as a bench with coat-hooks. Access to the double garage means the laundry room can also serve as a mud room. Should a basement be desired, the plans include an optional stairway located near the master bedroom. Exterior finishes include wood siding and painted trim, as well as brick accents. This home measures 35 feet wide and 58 feet deep, for a total of 1,447 square feet of living space on one floor. Plans for design 5-3688 are available for $675 (set of 5), $730 (set of 8) and $774 for a super set of 10. Also add $35.00 for Priority charges within B.C. or $60.00 outside of B.C. Please add H.S.T., PST, OR G.S.T (where applicable) to both the plan price and Priority charges.
PLAN NUMBER 5-3688 THOUGHTFUL DESIGN RANCH STYLE The thoughtful design touches in this three-bedroom bungalow – such as the extra-high ceiling in the foyer and the soaker tub in the master bedroom’s ensuite – will more than make up for the fact that there’s no basement. However, the plans include an optional stairway, should the purchasers consider including a basement, always useful for an extra bedroom or
storage space. A covered entry, set off by two brick pillars with wooden struts on top, leads through the foyer – with a ceiling measuring 10 feet, six inches high – to the openplan kitchen and dining area, with nine-foot ceilings. The great room, located at the back of the home enjoys French doors to a patio, and also features a gas fireplace, truly making it a room for all seasons. The kitchen features an L-shaped counter area. Natural light will
flood in through the window over the kitchen sink, as well as that in the dining area. The work area includes an eating bar. A roomy pantry provides extra storage space. An archway leads to the master suite, overlooking the back garden and including an en-suite and walk-in closet. The soaker tub has a tiled surround, and the double sinks will ease the morning rush-hour. The closet is capacious enough for a couple’s shoes and accessories.
Our 49TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 300 plans is available for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and handling). Make all cheque and money orders payable to “Jenish House Design Ltd.” and mail to: JENISH HOUSE DESIGN LTD. c/o...Yorkton This Week #201- 1658 Commerce Ave Kelowna, BC V1X 8A9 OR SEE OUR WEB PAGE ORDER FORM ON: www.jenish.com AND E-MAIL YOUR ORDER TO: homeplans@ jenish.com

Announcing CAA’s sixth annual worst roads campaign The popular CAA Saskatchewan Worst Roads campaign is back. From April 3rd to 28th, 2017, the worst roads travelled on by Saskatchewan drivers can be identified. New to this year’s campaign is the invitation to cyclists and pedestrians to voice their concerns and nominate roads they think are in most need of improvement or repair. These worst roads might have potholes or crumbling pavement, poor road signs, lack of cycling or walking infrastructure, or traffic congestion. Voting opens April 3rd. Here’s how: • Click caask.ca/worstroads • Select your nominated road • The exact segment of road or highway can be ‘pinned’ • Identify what kind of road user you are – driver, cyclist, motorcyclist, or pedestrian • Click the problem description from the drop-down menu selection • Provide your CAA Membership number (optional)
• Tell us how you heard about the CAA Saskatchewan Worst Roads Campaign • Submit your vote (one vote per road per day) Photos of the nominated worst roads by drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians will be accepted. Just submit your photos and an email with the photo attached to notify@caask. ca with the subject line CAA SKWorst Road. Please include your first name, the name of the road and its municipality to ensure that your photo is added. Also, please ensure you are in a safe location before taking a photo of a road. Avoid taking photos while driving or cycling. The 2017 CAA Saskatchewan Worst Roads campaign will be monitored with status of the top roads via news releases on caask.ca/ news and through CAA’s social media channels including Facebook and Twitter. CAA Saskatchewan acknowledges the improvements made to Saskatchewan road-
ways for the safety of all motorists and travellers. Saskatchewan is a land-locked province with a total road surface of 160,000 km including municipal roads and 26,000 km of provincial highways. We know there is always work to be on done to keep our roads and highways safe for all types of road users. The 2016 CAA Worst Roads campaign attracted 4,298 votes. Saskatchewan 354 near Dilke was voted as the number one worst road in the province; the same ranking it received in 2015. The results of the 2017 CAA Saskatchewan Worst Roads campaign will be shared in early May with decision makers and government officials. The CAA Worst Roads Campaign helps put a spotlight on troublesome and even dangerous road conditions in the province and is one tool to help address those roads in most need of attention. Working towards better roads and advocating for driver, pedestrian and cyclist safety is a priority for CAA Saskatchewan.
