YUZIK - David Yuzik, beloved husband of the late Victoria Yuzik of Ebenezer passed away with his family by his side on January 19, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 81 years of age. David was born on May 8, 1934 in the Whitesand District, the son of Alex & Titiana (nee Skehar) Yuzik. David received his education at the Whitesand School. On October 9, 1961 David was united in Matrimony to Victoria Gallant and the couple made their family home together in Ebenezer. They were blessed with two daughters. David started his career working for the Department of Highways which he left after his daughters were born to be closer to home. David was then employed with Ottenbreit Sanitation Services up until his retirement in 2001. In his spare time he was a hired farmhand for a few of his friends in the Ebenezer District along with helping Victoria provide janitorial services to the Ebenezer School. David enjoyed many hobbies, the garden was his pride and joy. David also enjoyed watching hockey, football and loved his Westerns. David also enjoyed visiting and being with his family, everyone had a nickname. David also loved giving his favourite waitresses a hard time. David was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Victoria; his parents Alex & Titiana; his sisters, Ann, Mary, Pauline, Agnes and Lillian; his brothers, Gus, John, Fred, and Steve and his in-laws, Joe, Polly, Alex, and Lorne Gallant. David leaves to celebrate his life, his two daughters, Lorraine Yuzik (Tom Isted) of Ebenezer, Darlene (Brian) Rubletz of Yorkton; one granddaughter, Chantel Rubletz (Ryan Spezowka) of Estevan; a sister-in-law, Mary Gallant of Yorkton and a host of good relatives and friends. At David’s request, a private family funeral service was held on Friday January 22, 2016 at Kopan’s Funeral Service with Jason E. Kopan serving as the Celebrant. WOYCHESKO - Nettie Woychesko of Yorkton, wife of the late Alex Woychesko, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre surrounded by her family at the age of 89 years. Nettie was born March 2, 1926 in the Jedburgh district of Saskatchewan; the 5th oldest of 9 children born to Alex and Asenia (Jennie) Karapita, Bill, John, Annie, Mary, Steve, Alex, Pearl and Lawrence. Nettie received her education at Folkstone School. She married Alex Woychesko on March 6, 1948 in Toronto, ON. The couple returned to Saskatchewan in 1949 and settled in the Jedburgh district, where they farmed from 1949 - 1987 and then retired into Yorkton. Following the death of Alex in 1998, Nettie was able to maintain her independence for about eleven years before becoming a resident of the Bentley Retirement residence for the past seven years. Nettie was a very talented and creative person. She was a friend to many. Besides her husband Alex, Nettie was predeceased by her parents, brothers Bill, John, Steve and Lawrence and sister Annie Krywulak. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: John (Kathy) Woychesko of Yorkton; Connie (David) Asp of Sherwood Park, AB and Peter (Kathy) Woychesko of Spruce Grove, AB. Five grandchildren: Trevor Woychesko (Liz), Nicole Jensen (Craig), Ryan Asp (Angela), Eran Cardinal (Payne) and Michelle Kit (Terry). Also twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters; Mary Wenc and Pearl Wushenny and a brother Alex (Gertrude) Karapita. Prayer services were held on Wednesday evening, January 20, 2016 and the Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, January 21, all from St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Yorkton. Very Rev. Bohdan Lukie CSs.R. and Rev. Methodius Kushko C.Ss.R. con-celebrated. The cross bearer was Eran Cardinal, assisted by Julia Jensen & Madisson Woychesko. Janey Meredyk read the Epistle. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Ryan Asp, Craig Jensen, Bruce Jacob, Stan Meredyk, Ray Wenc and Leo Misko serving as the casket bearers. KITZ - Celebration of the Life in Christ Given to ~ Barry Russell Kitz ~ June 24, 1948 - January 17, 2016. Barry passed away peacefully in Regina on January 17, 2016 with his son Scott by his side following a lengthy struggle with health problems related to a hereditary disease. Barry was born on June 24, 1948 at Langenburg to Harold and Margaret (Adams) Kitz. He was baptized into the Christian faith on July 18, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Landestreu. Barry confirmed his baptismal faith on October 28, 1962 at Landestreu. Barry was united in marriage to Sharilyn Joy Stelmaszak on May 30, 1970 in Churchbridge, SK. Barry and Sharilynn were blessed with two sons, Scott and Chad. Barry became a journeyman carpenter while in Regina and worked with several companies before forming Kitz & Hill Construction Ltd. with a friend. Barry disliked living in the city and in 1977 he moved his young family to Langenburg and formed Kitz Brothers Construction working first with his brothers and cousins and eventually with his sons and nephews. In 1978 Barry started farming and moved his young family to a house under construction and eventually built barns, corrals and made a farmyard out of a summer fallow field. Barry worked as a high clearance sprayer operator for Sharp’s Soil Services, served as financial auditor for Landestreu Church, was a Churchbridge School Board trustee for many years while his sons were students, served as a councillor for the RM of Churchbridge for several terms and went through many stressful experiences during the flood of 1995. Barry enjoyed visiting with family and friends, he loved his grandchildren and had great fun being Santa for the kids. He enjoyed his Border Collies - at one point he had 13 of them and his special one named Buddy. Barry enjoyed sports of all kinds - baseball, broom ball and curling, spending many hours at the curling rink when his sons were in junior men’s curling. He played the drums with his brothers in their band “The Guy Tones”. Barry spent many hours watching “Duck Dynasty” when poor health confined him to a wheelchair or scooter. Barry was predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret Kitz, his Godmother Martha Adams, and numerous aunts and uncles. Barry leaves to mourn his wife Sharilyn (separated); sons Scott (Karen), their children Jackson and Alexandra and Chad (Yanting) and their son Leeroy; his partner Phyllis Matthews, her daughter Dorelle (Tyler) Fulton, their children Mae and Evan, her son Joel (Kandis) Matthews and their children Kailie and Kolton; four brothers Calvin (Linda), Earl (Sandra), Lawrence (Bev), Perry (Cheryl); two brothers-in-law John (Vicky) Stelmaszak and Francis Stelmaszak; four step-brothers-in-law Allan (Diane) Frederick, Orville (Marlene) Frederick, Byron Frederick and Marlin Frederick; numerous nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral service was held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Landestreu with Pastor Aaron Gust officiating. Organist, Laurel Kentel led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “Amazing Grace”, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “Abide With Me”. Urn bearers were Janine Blyth, Chantel Kitz (Barry’s Goddaughters) and Garett Kitz. The internment took place in the Landestreu Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Braendle-Bruce Funeral Home, Russell, MB. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Landestreu Memorial Fund or the Canadian Diabetes Association. passed away Saturday, June 16, 2016 at the age of 102 years. Mary was born on May 21, 1913, to Wasyl and Nettie (nee Bilozor) Blishchak in the Beaver Dale district of Saskatchewan. She married Walter Shuflita in 1930 and together had three children. They farmed in the Fenwood, SK district until Walter’s passing in 1972. Mary remained on the farm with her son and his family until she moved to Yorkton, where she remained until her passing. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, a daughter at the age of five weeks, Helen, and a son, Walter. She is survived by her son, Edward and his wife Frances; her daughter-in-law, Eileen; three grandchildren, Allan, Terry and Connie; seven great-grandchildren, Dayton, Tristan, Grayson, Dawson, Julia, Cody and Shena; two great-great-grandchildren, Bryden and Blake; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives. A vigil service was held for Mary on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville with Rosalie Woloschuk and Dave Hudy presiding. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, January 23, 2016 at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church, Melville with the Rev. Fr. Mitch Burdzy, OMI celebrating. The organist and song leader was Len Gadica and Toni Wassell was the lector. The cross bearer was Tristan Shuflita and Dawson Shuflita led in the Prayers of the Faithful. Interment followed in St. Henry’s Parish Cemetery with Terry Shuflita, Alan Dzuba, Tristan Shuflita, Lionel Woytas, Dawson Shuflita and Darrell Zaharia acting as pall bearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.

DINGWALL - Ronald John Vincent “Vince” Dingwall beloved husband of Helen of Yorkton passed away in the Yorkton Regional Hospital on January 12, 2016 after a bout with cancer. Vince was born April 9, 1929 in Chancellor, AB to Duncan and Isabella (MacKintosh) Dingwall, the youngest of 9 children. Vince served in the Canadian Army “C” Battery 3 R.C.H.A. working from a Private to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) from 1947 to 1955 which included a tour of duty in Korea as a Peacekeeper and an Honour Guard for Queen Elizabeth in Winnipeg in 1955. From July, 1955 to February, 1956 worked as a Master Warrant Officer at the Yorkton Armouries 53 Field Regiment. Received the United Nations Service Medal and on July 1, 1967 received the 100th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Centennial Medal in recognition of valuable service to the nation. Shortly after his military service, Vince started employment with Canadian National Railroad as a Fireman eventually moving up to a Locomotive Engineer working throughout Western Canada. He retired in 1990 after 34 years of service. Vince is predeceased by his parents; brothers Duncan, Alexander (Lily) & Charles; sisters Elizabeth, Murdina, Catherine, Margaret & Isabella. He leaves to celebrate his life his wife Helen; his daughter Shirley (Bill) Miller; his son Ronald (Linda) Dingwall; numerous step-grandchildren/great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Vince enjoyed travelling with the motorhome especially down south in the winter to Texas, Arizona & Mexico. Other travel included Hawaii, Germany, France, Spain and South America. He also enjoyed camping with his family, golfing, watching baseball, square dancing, gardening and watching his numerous nieces and nephews sporting activities. Sincere thanks to the amazing staff on Unit 1 East at the Yorkton Regional Hospital for their care of Vince. The funeral service was held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Deborah Smith of Westview United Church officiating. Pianist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Lord of the Dance’. The recessional hymn was ‘Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling’. Son Ron and daughter Shirley gave tributes to their father. The interment took place in the Garden of Memories Columbarium with son Ron as the urn bearer. KEMP George James Kemp, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. George was born in Mitchell, ON on December 14, 1933, the eighth child to Clifford and Leone (nee Sidwell). His parents raised a family of five boys and five girls on the family farm near Mitchell. George received his elementary education at the rural Munroe school. At the age of 25, George moved west to Dundurn, SK where he began working as a helping hand on a farm. It was at South Allan where he met the love of his life, Martha Anne Olson. After courting for three years, they wed in 1961. In 1964, George and Anne welcomed their first child, Arvid. In 1965, the family moved to Bradwell and welcomed their second child, Kim. In 1975, the family relocated to Yorkton shortly after their third child, Darcy was born. Throughout this time, George held many different occupations, including mining and real estate, but his true passion was farming. George was an outdoor person who loved hunting and fishing. Other hobbies included curling, woodworking and fixing anything that needed repair. George was the happiest in his garage and spent many hours a day entertaining friends and family who were passing by. George’s pride and joy were always his grandchildren, as he was always interested in the activities they were involved in. George’s personality ensured that all around him would be smiling or laughing through teasing and jokes. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne of 54 years, their son Arvid (Graziella) of Edmonton, AB; their children Kennedie and Antonino; daughter Kim (Doug) Rodgerson of Yorkton; their children Ashley, Amy (Lance) and Brandyn; son Darcy (Shawna) Kemp of Yorkton; their children Shayna, Brett and Brittney; and great-grandchildren Kolby and Kenzie; sisters Evelyn Pridham, Betty Cowell, Shirley (Laverne) Zimmer; brothers Earl (Vera) Kemp, Harold (Marg) Kemp; sister-in-laws Phyllis Kemp, Cecilia (David) Larson; brother-in-laws Bill Cornish, Arthur Olson. Also left to mourn are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Deborah Smith of Westview United Church officiating. The pianist was grandson, Brandyn Rodgerson, who led the congregation in the singing of the hymns ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘Rock of Ages’ and ‘The Old Rugged Cross’. The processional hymn was ‘Precious Lord, Take My Hand’, the recessional hymn was ‘Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling’. Granddaughter Ashley Haas gave the eulogy. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Matthew with David Arneson, Lance Turek, Michael Larson, Jesse Hort, Lance Henderson and Brett Kemp serving as the casket bearers. Memorials were to the Alzheimer’s Society.

BLACK - Murray Black, beloved husband of Verla of Yorkton died January 18, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre surrounded by his family. Murray was born in Deloraine, MB on March 25, 1929 the third child and only son of Harold and Annie (Longman) Black. He attended Coxworth School and took his high school at a boarding school in Teulon, MB. After graduation he held various jobs - school teacher, brakeman on the CPR and several others all the while helping his father on the farm. As a young man he studied the electrical code and wired the farm. As rural electrification spread in southern Manitoba he worked for an electrical contractor bringing lights and power to farms. This was the start of his career as an electrician. In 1953 he met and married Verla Ames of Elgin, MB. For several years they farmed in the summer and lived in Brandon in the winter where Murray worked for an electrical contractor and earned his Journeyman Status. Their son Grant was born in Deloraine in 1957. In 1958 Murray started working for Saskatchewan Power at Boundary Dam. The farm was sold, the young family moved to Estevan and then on to Regina and finally Yorkton, which has been home since 1962. They adopted their daughter Lana in 1964 and the family was complete. Murray had a curious mind and loved to travel and explore. Verla and Murray took many trips and bus tours travelling to Germany to visit their daughter when she lived there, Ireland, Mexico, Hawaii, Texas, Alaska and The Maritimes. The most memorable trip was a two-week cruise with family through the Panama Canal to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed many summers at their cabin at Clear Lake visiting with friends, attending dances at the barn at Onanole, hiking and entertaining family. Murray was an everyman. He had a great sense of humour, loved following the news, skewering politicians and debating their policies. He enjoyed fishing and boating, gardening, long games of Queens, cross-country and downhill skiing, golf, watching hockey, curling and football games and coffee with the SPC superannuates and friends. He was a hard-working and dedicated employee and was a handyman who could repair almost anything. He often helped friends and neighbours pour concrete, wire lights or build a fence. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Verla, son Grant (Lee Ann), daughter Lana (Shane) sisters Joyce Coxworth and Barb (Bill) Paley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nola and Larry Meggison, sister-in-law Geraldine Ames, cousin Joan Hull of Northern Ireland and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Westview United Church, Yorkton with Rev. Jen Dresser officiating. Murray’s son Grant gave the eulogy. Organist, Laurene Jemieff led members of the church choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns: ‘In the Quiet Curve of Evening’, ‘In the Garden’, ‘Jesus, You Have Come to the Lakeshore’, and ‘We Shall Go Out With Hope of Resurrection’.
