KLAUSE - Ev (Evelyn) Klause died suddenly on January 25, 2017 at the Royal Masonic Care Home in Vancouver, BC after four days of gently administered palliative care. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Elrose and Verna Klause, son-in-law Peter, grandchildren, Darla, Skylar and Ethan Budden and Gregory and Summer Kinash as well as sisters, Frances, Betty, Dorothy and Gladys, brother, Lawrence, brother-in-law, Art Klause, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman, her beloved son, Timothy, her parents and her sisters, Rose and Vera. Ev was born on March 6, 1927 to Gus and Elsie Mantay and was raised on a farm close to Springside. She worked on her parent’s farm, attended bible school in Edmonton and worked in Yorkton prior to marrying Norman Klause in October of 1952. They farmed together just outside of Saltcoats for over 50 years until Norman’s death in 2005, living on the same farmyard for most of those years. In 2006 Ev moved to Vancouver to be closer to Verna and her family and to avoid the “beastly” Saskatchewan winters. Her formative years gave her a lifelong appreciation for sports and sporting competitions. After becoming a resident of Vancouver she traded her passion for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and Yorkton Terriers to the Vancouver Canucks. Ev was determined and resilient. Although she was only able to attend school until Grade 9, she completed adult equivalency classes after her family no longer needed her attention. She supplemented the family farm income by driving a bus on a Saltcoats school bus route, working in the laundry department at the Yorkton Hospital and preparing meals for road crews in the Saltcoats area. She was passionate about providing hospitality, especially with her food. Coffee and something to eat were always on offer to anybody who dropped by. Ev loved to travel and would often visit her daughters wherever they happened to be and accompany them on longer trips. Norman was content to go on shorter day trips with her in Saskatchewan. Until shortly before Norm’s death, they often travelled country roads selling Watkins products, but mainly driving and visiting friends and acquaintances. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2010 and in the subsequent years required increasing assistance with day to day life. Even with this devastating disease she was able to show her concern and compassion for those around her, alternately brighten or frustrate the people who gave her assistance and helped her remember her life was meaningful. At an earlier memorial service in Vancouver the Chaplain of the Care Home lovingly reminded us that Ev was one of a kind. Although her memory was often clouded during her final years, we and those who were around her, will remember her sense of humour and her ability to compensate for her illness by constantly documenting the small details of her life. She may not have remembered what she ate or if she had taken her medications, but everything was recorded in the notebooks she kept, so that she could refer to them. Especially important to her in the final years of her life was her never faltering religious faith. Cremation has taken place and her family has arranged a Memorial Service to celebrate her life with all her friends and family members at Heritage Baptist Church in Yorkton, SK on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 1:30 pm, to ensure that she will miss all of the Saskatchewan winter that she was so averse to. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society Canada (www.alzheimer.ca). Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Stella was born July 17, 1925 in Bridgend, South Wales. She was the eldest daughter of a family of five to Sydney and Gladys Hopkins. She worked as a Cashier Receptionist until she was united in marriage on August 9, 1943 to Elmer Wood. Stella arrived in Kenaston, SK on January 1945 as the 1st war bride in Kenaston. They enjoyed many years as Square and Round Dance instructors, twice a month traveling to various communities Penzance, Holdfast, Liberty, Stalwart, Findlater, Tugaske and Lucky Lake, as well as Jamborees at Waskesiu and Kenosee Lakes. In 1971, they sold the business and moved to Melfort for a short 2 years where she worked as a hotel clerk in a local hotel. They moved to Yorkton in 1973 where Stella worked at the Yorkton Hotel. SHARPE - Robert Frederick (Bob) Sharpe. May 10, 1946 - June 2, 2017. We said goodbye to Bob on June 2 after a year-long battle with cancer. Born in Olds, AB, Bob grew up in Portreeve and Sceptre before heading out for what would become a decades-long career in the building supply retail business. His work would take him to Kindersley, Edmonton, Calgary and Yorkton, where his children Leah and Scott grew up, before he moved to Fort Qu’Appelle later in life. Bob was predeceased by his father Frederick, mother Helen, stepfather Norman, sister Pat and brotherin-law Emil. He is survived by Leah (Tim) and Scott (Candace) and their mother Janet as well as Scott’s children Aiden and Hazel, nephew Robert, niece Cheryl and their families. He will also be missed by many friends in the communities where he lived and worked. Bob cared deeply about his children. As kids, he enjoyed spending time with them in his garden and as adults, he looked forward to catching up during weekly calls to talk about kids, dogs, the Blue Jays and the Roughriders. He was a proud grandpa to Aiden, for whom he always had some candy at the ready and Hazel, who he had the great joy of meeting shortly before his passing. Bob’s sidekick, his little dog Nanook, could be found with him wherever he went around Fort Qu’Appelle. They are together again after Nanook passed away just a few days after his best buddy. Bob fought a long, hard battle with cancer, made easier by the amazing people at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, Regina Cancer Patient Lodge and Regina Palliative Care ward, along with other doctors and caregivers. We thank them all for their kindness and care. Bob will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with family in August.

LESSER - With sadness, the family of Ethel Lesser announce her passing on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home, Yorkton, SK. She was 76 years of age. Ethel was born in Kamsack, SK on September 15, 1940, the daughter of Dorothy and Rich Brown. She received her education at Riversdale School but left school early to join the work force. In 1960, Ethel met the love of her life, Milbert Lesser. The couple was married on July 5, 1963 in Kamsack, SK. Ethel and Milbert made their home in Kamsack and were blessed with two children, Sharon and Sheldon. The family moved to Yorkton where Ethel continued working in her two favourite capacities - wife and mother. When Sharon and Sheldon were older, Ethel returned to school, upgrading her education and eventually obtaining employment as an office clerk working for an insurance adjuster, Alf Procyshyn. Ethel was an excellent seamstress and there was no sewing project that she couldn’t handle from drapes, to clothing, to custom alterations. She was also a talented knitter and always had a knitting project in progress whether it was the numerous sweaters, mitts, hats and scarves or the hundreds of pairs of socks she knit for everyone from newborns to adults. Ethel enjoyed fishing and camping. Together she and Milbert enjoyed countless hours at Lake of the Prairies. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Milbert; her parents, Dorothy and Rich and her parents-in-law, Mary and David. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon of Medicine Hat, AB; her son, Sheldon of Yorkton, SK; her sisters, Jean Schram and Marge Stooshinoff; her brother, Telf Brown; her sister-in-law, Joanne Lesser; her brothers-in-law, Arnold (Emily) Lesser and Alvin Netterfield as well as many other relatives and friends. Ethel’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre and the Yorkton & District Nursing Home for their kind, compassionate care. A Service to Celebrate Ethel’s Life was held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from the Chapel of Christie’s Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Jen Dresser of St. Andrew’s United Church officiating. The organist, Carla Laycock, led the congregation in the singing of the hymn, “Give to Us Laughter”. A private family cremation committal will take place at a later date. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

NEUDORF - Mr. Don Neudorf of Yorkton, beloved partner of Myrt Derbowka, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017. Donald Nathaniel Neudorf was born at home on October 30, 1943 in Hazel Dell, SK to Paul and Elena Neudorf. He was the eldest of seven children. After spending his first year of life in Hazel Dell, the family moved to the farm in Springside. When Don was four years old they moved to Yorkton where he attended school. He loved skating and was a very good hockey player. Don and his dad built a skating rink on Lawrence Road where he loved to spend his time skating and playing hockey. Don’s brother Cliff had always heard what a good hockey player Don was. So when Cliff was 15 he finally got to play a game with him. At that time Don had not played hockey for years but went to the Metropolitan Store and bought a hockey stick for .89 cents. He was so good, he skated circles around everyone and scored three goals. Our team won! His love of sports continued throughout his entire life. When Don was quite young, mom and dad would walk into town for Church every Sunday evening. Don would say, “let’s all lay on the bed and sing.” They found a hymnal and sang until mom and dad came home. This was enjoyed by all the kids. When Don was 16 and Cliff was 6, Mom and Dad built Cliff a playhouse. Don would rent the playhouse from Cliff and pay Cliff with nickels and dimes which kept Cliff in candy and pop for the entire summer. During the summer months, the family would always gather at mom and dads on Sundays. The boys would start out with a friendly game of catch but by the end they would see who could throw the ball the hardest and make the other guys hand sting. Don never gave up! Don loved cars. Imagine how shocked his parents were when he brought home his first car, decided he really wanted a convertible and proceeded to cut off the roof! Yes that happened! In 1966 Don married Donelda Kerr and although they divorced, together they were loving parents to their two sons Devryn and Dereyk. The boys knew if they dropped by Tim Hortons or the A&W they would likely find their dad having coffee with his buddies. They loved their dad. Sadly Donelda passed away September 2012. In 1981 Don met Myrt Derbowka and they had been together until his passing. Together, Don and Myrt made a home for themselves in Yorkton. They enjoyed working in the yard and occasionally had disagreements about where things should go. As we all know, women know best. One of their favourite pastimes was having coffee on their deck or at the West Broadway Tim Hortons. Don and Myrt enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and hockey games. If ever you called and didn’t get an answer, they were busy watching curling! Don made a living driving truck for Atomic Transportation, driving a tour bus for Moose Mountain Bus Lines and working at Fedorowich Construction. He enjoyed driving the tour bus the most. He always had tales to tell of the places he’d been and the many people he met while traveling across Canada and the United States. Myrt even joined him on some of these adventures. He had a big smile and a great sense of humour which Myrt will miss dearly. Don was predeceased by his brother Ronald in infancy, father Paul, nephew Calvin Magas, brotherin-law George Ramstead and his sister Hilda Magas. He leaves to cherish his memory: his partner Myrt Derbowka and her children Bonnie, Kevin, Terrilyn and their spouses and children, his two sons Devryn (Renee) and Dereyk (Beth) Neudorf, his granddaughters Tearra, Kelsey and Natalia and his great-granddaughter Valeria, his mother Elena Neudorf, his brother Cliff (Judy) Neudorf, three sisters, Betty Ramstead, Sherry (Lee) St. Louis, Bonnie (Leon) Jones plus many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. This spring, Don completed a few jobs on his to-do-list before becoming very ill. Don had a heart of gold. We will remember his big smile and hearty laugh forever. We will say so long for now, until we meet you again. You will forever be in our hearts. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey, B.TH officiating. The musical selections, ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’, ‘Six Days On The Road’ and ‘On The Road Again’. A tribute to Don by word and song was presented by Bonnie & Leon Jones. The interment will be held at a later date. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com.

PLAN OF THE WEEK

PLAN NUMBER 7-31002 PLENTY ROOM FOR GROWTH In this attractive three-bedroom family home, the living area is on the main floor, with all the bedrooms on the second floor. Entry is through a covered porch that leads to a front door with a side window. In the foyer, a coat closet is to the right, and beyond is the greatroom complex, where French doors open on

to a covered deck. The gas fireplace will make this room a magnet for family activities during the cooler months and, thanks to the open-plan design, its warmth will be felt all the way into the dining area. The kitchen features an efficient L-shaped counter configuration, as well as a window over the double sink. A prep island separates the kitchen from the dining area, and a corner pantry will provide always-

welcome storage space. A doorway leads out to a covered porch and down to the back garden. Adjacent is a twopiece lavatory and the laundry room, which can double as a mud room, thanks to the doorway to the single-vehicle garage. A staircase from the foyer leads up to the bedrooms on the second floor, where the spacious master suite enjoys a view over the front garden. The walk-

in closet will be commodious enough for any couple’s clothing, and the three-piece en-suite contains a linen closet. The second and third bedrooms, located at the back of the home, share a three-piece bathroom with a linen closet nearby. Exterior finishes include horizontal siding, with vertical siding on the main gable and shingle accents. Brickbased pilasters flank the entry porch, and painted trim gives the home a crisp look. This home measures 33 feet, six inches wide and 40 feet deep, for a total of 1,387 square feet. Plans for design 7-31002 are available for $675 (set of 5), $730 (set of 8) and $774 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges. Our NEW 49TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is available for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and handling).
