WORONUIK - Tom (Irving) Woronuik, March 26, 1938 - December 21, 2017. The family of Tom Woronuik are saddened to announce his sudden passing on December 21, 2017 in Gull Lake, AB. Tom was born on the family farm in Insinger, SK to Wasyl and Effie (Ukrainetz) Woronuik. Tom had an endless love for animals and it seems fitting that he was walking his beloved border collie “Rebel” at the time of his untimely passing. Tom is survived by his son Duane (Glenda), granddaughter Rianna Rae (Devon) of Saskatoon; special friend Janice Thomas of Edmonton; and numerous nieces and nephews in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Tom will also be missed by his family community of Gull Lake. Tom was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Effie, 9 siblings and grandson Aaron. At Tom’s request, there will be no service, rather a celebration of life for close family and friends will be held at his favorite watering hole, the Monkey Top Saloon, in Bentley, AB at 1:30 on January 6. To quote Tom’s favorite expression…. “Happy Happy”. Cremation entrusted to Oberhammer Funeral Chapel in Rimbey, AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Animal Shelter. KOWALYK - Larry Walter Kowalyk. February 23, 1951 - December 18, 2017. Larry was born and raised in Rose Valley, SK. After leaving school, Larry moved to Yorkton, where he met his wife of 44 years; Lovell Hnatiuk of Calder, SK. Through the years Larry and Lovell lived in Yorkton, Estevan and Weyburn, but eventually settled in Yorkton where Larry worked at The Bay, Buy Rite and later owned a Lottery terminal at the Super Store. He retired in 2009 and continued to pursue his love of lawn care, tilling gardens and collecting, buying and selling all things interesting. He loved old cars and antiques. He enjoyed visiting family and friends, fishing and of course playing golf, Watching and betting on hockey, basketball and football. Every day he waited for the afternoon to roll around, when he went to the mall to scratch cross words with Ed and Steve. He was very happy to get a surprise visit from his wife’s nephew Todd (Jen) and niece Corrie (Neil) from Winnipeg, MB and his special friend Irvin (Gail) Suski from Kenora, ON. Larry is pre decesased by his father Walter Kowalyk and survived by his mother Pauline Kowalyk, wife Lovell, his brothers and sisters Jerry Kowalyk (Phyllis), Leslie Kowalyk (Cindy), Roger Kowalyk (Barb), Allan Kowalyk (Lynell), Karen Ritchie (Ron), Rita Vellacott (Brad) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held for immediate family at a later date. SIMMONS - Rose Simmons (nee Mosiondz) of Yorkton, beloved wife of Doug Simmons, passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on December 19, 2017 at the age of 72 years. Rose was born on June 28, 1945 at Canora, SK to John and Anastasia (nee Chalus) Mosiondz and grew up on the family farm. As a young woman, Rose lived in British Columbia but later returned to Saskatchewan, settling in Yorkton. Rose was a strong and determined woman that met challenges with great courage. Her pastimes included reading, watching movies, and following her favorite sports teams. Rose is predeceased by her parents, John and Annie; her sister, Helen Lozinski; and her brothers, Paul Mason, and Metro Mosiondz. Rose leaves to celebrate her life her beloved husband, Doug; her daughter, Cindy (Kuldeep) Belley of Kamloops, BC; her sisters, Mary Oucharek of Yorkton, and Kathy Boguy of Regina; her brother, Mike Mosiondz of Regina; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada in memory of Rose Simmons may be made as an expression of sympathy. PLAN OF THE WEEK
PLAN NUMBER 10-2228 ONE LEVEL RECREATION HOME This compact twobedroom-plus-den recreation home features the living space all on one floor. Entry is through a covered porch into a foyer with a coat closet to the left. To the right is the
living room, with a gas fireplace and a large window with an extra-deep sill. Between the living room and the kitchen is the dining area, with a window looking out to the side garden. The kitchen includes a doorway to a patio and the back garden beyond, making summertime al fresco meals effortless.
The U-shaped counter configuration will save steps for the cook. The laundry room has room for a stacked washer and dryer, as well as a sink and a handy shelf for sorting and folding. The linen closet is located just outside the door. Bedroom No. 1, at the front of the home, shares a three-piece bath with
the second bedroom. Exterior finishes include horizontal wood siding on the facade, with vertical siding on the gable ends. One window features a planter box, attached with decorative wood brackets. Similar brackets decorate the window to the right of the entrance, which is set off by a painted wood pilaster with a brick base. This home measures 33 feet wide and 32 feet deep, for a total of 966 square feet. Plans for design 10-2228 are available for $575 (set of 5), $625 (set of 8) and $665 for a super set of 10.
