BOHN - Larry Bohn, beloved husband of Arlene Bohn of Yorkton, formerly of the Ebenezer district passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 16, 2016. He was seventy-two years of age. Larry Alvin Bohn was born on May 27, 1944 in Yorkton, SK to proud parents, Alvin and Constance Bohn. Larry was the eldest of six children. Larry grew up on the family farm north east of Ebenezer with his three sisters and two brothers. Larry completed high school and started out in the work force. Shortly after, one night at a youth group Larry met Arlene and soon they were engaged to be married. They enjoyed many years together before starting their family. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past year. Larry and Arlene farmed south of Ebenezer and that is where they were blessed with two sons Ryan and Regan. Larry was always so proud of his family. He raised the boys to work hard, cherish family and their faith. They moved off the farm in 1988 and resided in Yorkton on Spice Drive until his passing. Larry loved visiting with the neighbours and offering a hand where he could. You could always find Larry out on his John Deere yard tractor after a big snowfall getting the street and driveways cleared off. Larry was Mr. Fix-it! resulting in a variety of career paths throughout the years. His passion was mechanics. He loved to fix machinery, change oil in the tractors and use his tools. Larry loved gadgets, if ever you needed a gadget, Larry was the one to ask! Larry’s favourite time of the year was harvest time. He loved seeing the crops ripen and the combining out in the fields. Larry loved to socialize. He had wonderful friendships that were developed throughout various jobs that he held. He didn’t go anywhere without running into someone he knew and stopping for a quick visit. In his retirement years Larry enjoyed daily coffee visits with his friends. Larry was a family man. He enjoyed when the entire family could gather together during the holidays. Ryan and Regan were his pride and joy. He enjoyed sharing stories with the boys and teaching then the love of mechanics and farming. Holiday time was spent out at the family cabin at Madge Lake. Larry and Arlene taught the boys how to fish, water ski, downhill ski and snowmobile there. A lot of great family memories were made at the lake with family and friends. The family grew in 2007 when Ryan and Sharolyn were married and in 2009 when Regan and Christine were married. Larry had a special place in his heart for his daughter-in-laws. He loved them like his own. Larry became the proudest Grandpa around when his first grandchild Dreyton arrived in 2009. Meredith, Jayla and Miranda soon followed after and completed the family. Larry loved to sit and visit with the kids, show them cool things on his phone and rock them in the chair. He had a very special bond with his grandkids. Larry left us suddenly the morning of July 16, but his memories and love he shared for his family and friends will continue on forever. He will forever be remembered, loved and missed by all who knew him. Larry leaves to remember his life, his loving wife Arlene of 50 years, sons Ryan (Sharolyn) and Regan (Christine), grandchildren Dreyton, Jayla, Meredith and Miranda, Mom Constance Bohn, brothers Lionel (Brenda), Allan (Debbie), sisters Valerie (Garry), Valdene (Wayne), Linda (Dave), brother-in-law Ivan (Debbie) and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Larry was predeceased by his father Alvin Bohn and in-laws Henry and Adeline Batke. A visitation for family and friends was held Tuesday evening from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from Heritage Baptist Church in Yorkton with Pastor Brian Kirsch officiating. The organist, Elaine Patzer and pianist, Marlene Fandry led the congregation in the singing of the hymns ‘Just a Closer Walk with Thee’, ‘How Great Thou Art’ and ‘In The Garden’. PLAN OF THE WEEK
PLAN NUMBER 6-3674 DORMER WINDOWS ADDING CHARM Dormer windows always add charm to a home, and this rambling 1½-storey family home, designed for a large lot, is no exception. The entry is protected by a glass-panelled awning that is echoed at a window above and shelters the spacious front porch. The compact foyer, which includes a handy coat cupboard, is separated from the open-plan great room by a glass partition. The great room’s most striking feature is a three-way fireplace that will cast its glow
all the way to the dining area and also brighten the lofty double-height area where it is located. Large windows overlook the front garden. The dining area will be bright with natural light, thanks to two side windows, as well as French doors that open to a covered terrace. A second, more formal, dining area overlooks the front garden and is located around the corner from the kitchen for easy serving. The kitchen features a four-seat eating bar and prep island, as well as an L-shaped counter configuration to save steps for the cook. There is a window over the
double sink. Adjacent to the kitchen, in the connecting corridor between the main house and the two-vehicle garage, are a powder room and the laundry room, which includes a storage closet as well as a bench that will be useful for removing muddy boots. Upstairs, the master bedroom overlooks the back garden. Airy and bright, the space features a vaulted ceiling, as well as a walk-in closet. The en-suite includes an oval soaker tub, in addition to a shower stall. Both the second and third bedrooms look out on the front garden
and share a three-piece bathroom that occupies its own bayed-out niche. Natural light will flood through the sky-light. The second bedroom has a built-in desk, while the third features an extradeep window sill. This plan includes an unfinished basement. There is space for a work bench in the double garage, which includes a generous storage area. Exterior finishes include cedar shakes and stucco, brick accents and partly mullioned windows. The garage doors are turned away from the roadway, offering a more attractive aspect to passersby. This home measures 65 feet, 10 inches wide by 45 feet, six inches deep, for a total of 1,993 square feet. Plans for design 6-3674 are available for $755 (set of 5), $815 (set of 8) and $952 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges. Our NEW 48TH Edition of the Home Plan Catalogue containing over 400 plans is available for $15.50 (includes taxes, postage and handling). Stackhouse Soapbox need to watch Europe’s Top 50 Goals more than a CFL hot stove. Speaking of replays, there is continuing talk in Major League Baseball on how to shorten games and I’d eliminate the coach/manager challenge in that sport too. Actually, I’d do away with it in every sport and have an independent eye in the sky who reviews everything and orders reviews only in the most outrageous cases of offense. A guy sliding with his momentum carrying him off the bag by an inch long after he’s shown to be safe isn’t something we should be allowed to challenge and win based on a technicality. It’s much like the borderline offside call in hockey. To have the ability to call back a goal because a portion of a guy’s skate blade is too far over the blueline is ridiculous when you consider a missed cross check in front of the net when a player is ready to accept a pass and shoot the puck into an open net can’t be challenged. Baseball could also do itself a favor and institute a pitch clock since umpires have already abandoned the practice of preventing batters from stepping out of the box to adjust equipment. es on the weekend that he didn’t want to wear a special throwback jersey while he pitched. To get his point across, he cut the jerseys up so they had to go in the garbage. This is a grown man making $13-million a year. What’s most astounding about all of this is that there are many teams trying to trade for this guy who don’t see this is a yellow flag at all. Frankly, I wouldn’t want this player no matter how good he is. He also has a previous history of being insubordinate through voicing displeasure over the team’s policy to remove children from the clubhouse. This guy is psycho. Another week and plenty of killing in our world once again. Sunday there was another mass shooting in Florida, although there is no problem with guns. Yes, I know if you banned guns, the person would have found some other means to carry out the crime. I get it. I’ve heard the excuses. I give up. No gun problem. In Germany, I lost track of the incidents that occurred over the weekend. Three or four of them, to be certain. None of them are terrorist related though, so you can relax. In one case, it was a guy with a tan (true story based on a main stream media report). In another it was just some dude with an illness who was fixated on mass killing. And, then there was one where a poor refugee had been refused entrance to a music festival so he returned with a bomb strapped to himself and he blew himself and whatever else was nearby to bits. I mean that’s regular behaviour right? You get refused entry to a bar or something and so you come back and commit an attempted mass murder. Doesn’t seem terror related at all. There’s a significant portion of our population that will deny to accept what’s happening at all costs. Nice person mentions this week: Trent Cey, Therese Brass, Tracy Turner, and Renee Waldbauer.
