GYOERICK Mrs. Emma Gyoerick (nee Dwernichuk), wife of Dennis Gyoerick of Langenburg, SK, formerly of MacNutt, SK passed away peacefully on August 25, 2017 at the age of 70 years. Emma was born on April 8, 1947, the only child to Mike Wasyl Dwernichuk and Mary Dwernichuk (nee Unchelenko). She attended school in the MacNutt district. Emma met Dennis while he was working road construction and the two were smitten. Dennis and Emma were married on June 10, 1967 at the St. Elijah Romanian Orthodox Church of MacNutt. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Patricia (James) Petrowsky of Edmonton, Debra (Andy) Kutvonen of Langenburg and Trevor (Tammy) Gyoerick of Yorkton. Emma and Dennis were also blessed with 7 grandchildren: Matthew Petrowsky of Edmonton, Meagan Petrowsky of Spruce Grove, Abigail, Benjamin and Rebekka of Langenburg, Connor and Dylan Gyoerick of Yorkton. Emma was an avid gardener and baker and always wanted to have coffee and something to eat if you dropped in…. “eat, eat, eat” was often heard from her when you came over. While the kids were young, Emma was a homemaker while Dennis worked road construction and was away for long lengths of time. When all the children were grown, Emma took a cooking job at the now defunct “Gopherville”. She loved meeting with the people and everyone loved her pies and baking. When wrapping up one season, the staff was informed that Gopherville would be closing for good. Emma then went on to continue with cooking/prep work in Roblin first for a short time at Chicken Chef and then settling in at Roblin Motor Inn. She worked there for a number of years before she “retired”. Again she enjoyed the atmosphere of cooking and meeting people and chatting with some folks she hadn’t seem in a while. There was numerous volunteering Emma did-secretary/treasurer of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Minor Hockey, Figure Skating, MacNutt Centennial Board, as well as over 20 years of service to the Saskatchewan Housing Authority’s board of directors. In recent years during the winter months she would meet weekly with a group of ladies in MacNutt to sew and put together quilts for many different charities like Regina’s Cancer Lodge. Even though she didn’t travel to quilt much after moving to Langenburg, she continued to sew quilt tops for them while at home. Prayers were held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Cosmin Vint officiating. The responses were sung by members of the McNutt, Lenard and Shell Valley parishioners. The cross bearer was Stacey Onofriechuk and the banner bearers were Gerald Gorda and Ray Zalluski. The interment followed in the St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery, MacNutt District with Andy Kutvonen, James Petrowsky, Matthew Petrowsky, Larry Dwernichuk, Mike Wandy and Rodney Flunder serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Emma may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society as gifts of remembrance. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com.

B6 Obituaries

NAGY - The eldest son of Gabriel and Elizabeth (nee Helmeczi) Nagy, John was born on November 3, 1922, on the family farm near Dubuc, SK. He met the love of his life, Rose Babyak at the Kaposvar Church. John joined the army and she waited for him to return from the war. They were united in marriage on November 5, 1946 and their union was blessed with seven children, Ronald, Rose, Bernadette, Liz, John, Brenda and Rhonda. Following the war, John bought a small parcel of land that he farmed between Stockholm and Dubuc. He thoroughly enjoyed farming as well as his work at Sask Wheat Pool and Pioneer Grain. John was a “jack of all trades” and would often be called upon by neighbours during harvest to fix machinery. He could overhaul any vehicle or motor and would bleach his own gas. He loved harvest time. Supper in the field was a particular favourite, especially when it involved a quart sealer of tea, cream chicken, mashed potatoes and a jar of peach fruit. He was a very hard worker and instilled this value in his children. Though summer would find John working long hours, Sundays were a day of rest, when he and Rose would take the family to Bird’s Point or picnics at the Spring in the Qu’Appelle Valley. John loved Stockholm and the surrounding community. He loved to socialize and could engage anyone in a conversation. When John and Rose would go for the mail, John would often take so long talking that Rose would slam the car door three times or honk the horn in the hopes that he would get the hint that it was time to go. You would often find John in conversation with someone for so long that you would assume that he had known them all his life, only to find out he had just met them. In the winter, John loved to play cards. By the age of five, all Nagy children had the ability to play King Pedro, Canasta and Sevens. In 1991, Rose passed away suddenly. John remained on the farm until he moved into town in 2004. Going to church and for coffee became two of his favourite pass times. At church, he loved to be the greeter and carry the collection plate. Going for coffee was always a chance to find someone to speak Hungarian with. One of the highlights of living in town was that he finally got to have trick-or-treaters. John had many friends and would be so happy to have so many gathered in his memory. Family was very important to John. He loved his multiple daily chats with his children. He may not have been able to cook or bake like Rose, but he could make the best beef stew. He would make a special trip to Ottenbreit Meats to buy short ribs, just for the occasion. He loved coming to visit his children and grandchildren in Yorkton. John was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Joe, Steve, Peter and Jim; his beloved wife, Rose; and his son, John. John leaves to celebrate his life, his sister, Elsie; his son, Ronnie (Loretta) and their children, Dawn, Chrisinda (Jody) and Kyle (Kelsey); his daughter, Rose (Merv) and their children, Dwayne (Faye), Darcy (Dietta) and Daryle (Terra); his daughter, Bernadette (Frank) and their children, Amber, Ryan (Jasmine), Rhiannon (Justin) and Brittney (Devin); his daughter, Liz (Kim) and their children, Brendan (Teri-Anne), Jadah (Jeremy) and Connor; his daughter-in-law, Teresa and her children, Jordan and Colby; his grandson, Logan; his daughter, Brenda and her children, Matthew (Kimberly) and Luke; his daughter, Rhonda (Chris) and their children, Brett and Landon; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; numerous friends and fur babies.A Prayer Vigil Service was held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Stockholm, SK with Don Bernath serving as the Lay Presider. The reader was Luke Grazier. The organist, Gloria Jennett and members of St. Elizabeth’s Church choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “Only a Shadow” and “Silent Night”.The Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, August 28, 2017, also at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church with Father Louis Kim Nguyen officiating. The organist, Gloria Jennett and the church choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “Psalm 23: The Lord is My Shepherd”, “Just as I Am” and “How Great Thou Art”. Special music was provided by Dana Duncan who sang, “Be Not Afraid”, “Here I Am Lord” and “Amazing Grace”. The readers were Brittney Maddaford and Brett Hickie. The prayer intentions were led by Kennedy Geddes, the cross bearer was Ethan Hubic, the gift bearers were Kimberly Grazier and Kelslyn Geddes, the ushers were Devin Maddaford and Justin Leifso and words of tribute and eulogy were shared by Rhiannon Stromberg. Piper, Kim Walker played the recessional music and at the grave side. The Interment Service followed in the parish cemetery with Matthew Grazier, Landon Hick ie, Conner Walker, Logan Nagy, Kyle Nagy and Dwayne Todas serving as the casket bearers. In John’s memory, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors, a charity to honour and support Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, First Responders and their families (www.woundedwarriors.ca). Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Our family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to our many family and friends who sustained us with many mass offerings, mementos, gifts, prayers and many acts of kindness that we received since the passing of our mother, Anne Bisschop. Thank you to everyone for the visits, all the beautiful flowers, the great food, compassion, hugs, phone calls, texts and posts as well as your attendance at Mom’s services and the many donations made in her memory. Thank you…. two small words for such a big feeling. It is greatly appreciated and won’t be forgotten. Thank you to the staff at the Jowsey House and the Yorkton Nursing Home for the wonderful care Mom received. Thank you also to Father Louis Kim Nguyen for your guidance and support during the services. Your words of encouragement and prayers were appreciated by everyone. Thank you also goes out to the CWL for providing the honor guard for Mom. It was very touching. Thanks to the choir for sharing your talents and to the St. Gerard’s ladies for the wonderful lunch. A huge thank you to Vern and Kathy Novak and staff from Christie’s Funeral Chapel for your guidance, genuine compassion, true professionalism and your respectful ways. It is appreciated more than you know. You have become like family over the last three years. It means a lot to us to know people are thinking of us as we journey through this time in our lives. PLAN NUMBER 1-2624 TWO BEDROOM STRAIGHT ENTRY HOME This attractive twobedroom home is designed for a lot that slopes to the back. The unusual lay-out means the garage, along with the extra-large laundry room/mud room, extends at an angle from the main part of the home, creating a V-shaped stairway to the unfinished basement included with the plans. The spacious covered porch at the entryway is large enough to accommodate potted plants and some outdoor furniture, perfect for summertime evenings. The foyer, with stairs to the basement on the right and a coat closet to the left, leads directly through an archway into the great room. A built-in fireplace will make the open-plan great room/dining room/ kitchen especially welcoming during cooler months, while sliding doors to a covered deck, with its adjacent sundeck, will ensure the

space is equally appealing during the summer. The roomy kitchen boasts a central prep island, and the G-shaped counter configuration promises to save steps for the cook. A walkthrough pantry leads into the laundry room/mud room and from there into the double garage, which features a bay window on one side. The master suite overlooks the back garden for privacy, and includes a spacious en-suite with a soaker tub with a window, as well as a separate shower stall. Access to the walk-in closet is through the en-suite. The second bedroom boasts a window with an extra-deep sill. There is a four-piece bathroom next door. The home’s exterior includes partly-mullioned windows, shingled gables, decorative wood and stone accents, and painted trim. The garage has handsome barn-style doors, topped by a narrow strip of windows. This home measures 75 feet, 11 inches wide and 64 feet deep, for a

total of 1,773 square feet. Plans for design 1-2624 are available for $775 (set of 5), $835 (set of 8) and $8834 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7% Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $35.00 for Priority courier charges within B.C. or $65.00 outside of B.C. Please add 5% G.S.T. or 13% H.S.T. (where applicable) to both the plan price and postage charges.
