YASCHUK - Ernie was born in Strasbourg, SK on February 26, 1936, the son of Harry and Mary (nee Derkach) Yaschuk. Ernie grew up on the family farm in the Walkerville district, near Ituna, SK with his sister, Eva and brother, Mervin. Ernie attended Walkerville School, then moved to Toronto in 1954 and worked at Avro Arrow in Toronto, until the company (of 17,000 employees) closed in 1959. Ernie met Pauline Kitzul prior to his move to Toronto. Pauline was in Portage La Prairie, in training at the Mental Hospital in that city. Ernie made several trips to Portage La Prairie to visit and Pauline became the love of his life. He also attended her graduation at Portage in 1957, where they announced their engagement. Pauline went back to Toronto with Ernie, but they came home to Foam Lake, SK to be married at the Foam Lake Ukrainian Orthodox Church on August 9, 1958 and this year celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary. The couple made their home in Toronto and bought their first new home in New Market, ON. Following his lay off at Avro Arrow, Ernie and Pauline moved back to Foam Lake and purchased the Pendlebury farm. The farm was Ernie’s pride and joy and was a successful farming operation and even built a brand new home on the farm. He was very proud of his new lease on life and he and Pauline welcomed their children, Beverly in 1961, Carla in 1962, Darryn (who died in infancy on July 25, 1965) and Tannis in 1968. Ernie, Pauline and their daughters, sold their farm in 1974 and moved to Yorkton where he built Yorkton New Holland. He worked as Maintenance Manager at Queen Elizabeth Court and he and Pauline lived there for 13 years until his retirement in 2001. After Ernie’s retirement, he and Pauline purchased a new home on Russell Drive. Ernie enjoyed every minute there and loved the neighbourhood as everyone on the street were friends not just neighbours. Gardening was his passion and he won 1st prize for his well tended vegetable garden. He passed away peacefully, at his home, following a lovely supper and evening of playing cards with friends. Ernie was predeceased by his infant son, Darryn; his parents, Mary and Harry Yaschuk; his parents-in-law, John and Dora Kitzul; his brother-in-law, Harry Charanduk; his nephew, Nolan Kreklevich; his brother-in-law, Johnnie Kreklevich as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; his daughters, Bev (Brent) and their kittens that Ernie loved so much; Carla (Mick) and their sons, Tyler (Theresa) and Bradon; Tannis (Stephane) and their children, Brandon and Brielle; his sister, Eva Charanduk (and her children Sharon and Darryl); his brother, Mervin (Edna) Yaschuk (and their daughter, Robyn) as well as many other relatives, neighbours and good friends. The Prayer Service was held on Monday, November 23, 2015 from the Chapel of Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, SK with the Very Reverend Mel Slashinsky officiating. Yvonne Panchuk and members of the church choir led the responses and the reader was Ernie’s grandson, Bradon Pihowich. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the Very Reverend Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. Yvonne Panchuk and members of the church choir led the responses and the Cross Bearer was Ernie’s Granddaughter, Brielle Baraniuk. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens, Garden of St. Luke, with Brent Kindratsky, Tyler Pihowich, Mick Pihowich, Bradon Pihowich, Stephane Neveu and Brandon Baraniuk serving as the casket bearers. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. KOZEY - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandma/Baba Olga Kozey on November 12, 2015 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina at the age of 87. Olga arrived on this Earth August 2, 1928 in Goodeve, SK. A beautiful daughter to Wasyl and Kateryna (Bekesh) Pankiw. Olga grew up in the Goodeve area on the farm. She attended Halech School for approximately 8 years when a decision came about to quit school to help her family out on the farm as 2 of her brothers set out to join the military. Here now, Olga helped without complaint on the farm, in the fields, with livestock, in the home cooking, cleaning and keeping (at her best) all her siblings in order. Olga perfected the art of cooking and baking. Her passion was making dozens upon dozens of perogies and cabbage rolls. Upon her perfecting the skills of homemaking, Olga was ready for marriage. Meeting the love of her life Peter Kozey, they married in Goodeve in 1950. They settled on the Kozey family homestead just North of highway 15 between Goodeve and Hubbard, with Hubbard being home. Farm life and working hard was what Olga knew. Never complaining and always working tending to the cattle, feeding and milking, cleaning stalls, raising chickens, pigs. All the while raising 4 children, helping out with her live-in in-laws, keeping everyone fed, keeping the house clean, cutting grass, looking after her enormous garden, tending to the fields upon harvest. It was a tireless non ending cycle for Olga, with sleep being a foreign word for her. Olga was used to getting up on Mondays at 3 am to do laundry. This was the norm for her. Olga and Peter regularly attended Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Holy Ghost in Goodeve. Olga enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She enjoyed dancing, visiting, playing 3 spot, cribbage, picking mushrooms and chokecherries and always being the one to have enough food made for everyone - always! This all the while keeping up with her daily duties of being a wife, mom, grandma and homemaker. Olga always had that one stick of Juicy Fruit gum in her purse and always was willing to let another have it. She never complained and always provided for others first. After almost 50 years on the family farm, retirement was in hand and they sold the family farm and retired to the city of Yorkton. Keeping with her faith, she attended the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Yorkton. Upon Peter’s passing in September of 2002, Olga lived in their ‘dream home’ until July of 2006. Here is where she decided to move to her own condo in Regina where she lived out her final years close to her family and friends. Always having thoughts of visiting and having visitors, she became extremely close to Jake Dorish, son of Robert Dorish. It was as she described ‘her boy’ and never a day went by that she didn’t find time to see Jake or at least talk to him. Olga was predeceased by her father Wasyl (1974), mother Kateryna (1978), husband, Peter, brother Nicholas (1984) and sister Mary (2014). Olga is survived by 2 daughters, Elaine (George) Dorish, Karen (Nick) Oltean; sons, Richard (Mabel) Kozey, Donald (Linda) Kozey; sisters, Linda (Brent) Simmons, Darlene (Mike) Baran and brothers John (Catherine) Pankiw, Mike (Helen) Pankiw and Russel (Rosalie) Pankiw. Grandsons Rob Dorish (Rhonda), Rylan Kozey, Corey Kozey (Lynelle), Evan Kozey, Michael Kozey, Tyler Oltean, Brent Oltean and granddaughters Kimberly Dorish, Tiffany Kozey and Nichole Oltean and great-grandchildren Mathew, Samantha, Breanne and Jake Dorish, Hunter, Reid and Hudson Kozey. A Prayer Service was held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 and the Funeral Service on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Yvonne Panchuk & parish choir members. The cross bearer was Ron Pankiw. The Interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Rob Dorish, Jake Dorish, Andrew Kozey, Russel Pankiw, Mike Pankiw and Brandon Krushelnicki serving as the casket bearers. Memorials honouring Olga’s life may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com. Vichnaya Pamyat! Memory Eternal!

Sophie was born on February 6, 1932 to Peter and Kathrine Hadubiak (Malowany). She grew up on the farm and attended Monastyr School. Sophie grew up in a family with four other siblings and being the oldest she took on many responsibilities of looking after the younger brothers, working on the farm and helping her parents. On July 17, 1950, Sophie married Mike Madarash of Buchanan, a marriage which lasted 55 years until Mike’s passing in May of 2005. Sophie and Mike farmed northwest of Buchanan in the Olesha district, raising grain, livestock, chickens, having a huge garden and in the meantime, raising seven children and looking after Mike’s elderly parents. Sophie, along with husband Mike, made the big move to the big City of Yorkton in December 1974. Sophie worked at various jobs, but the one she cherished the most was working for the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate until her retirement. She volunteered her time at funerals and must have pinched a million perogies. She washed and ironed the purificators for the fathers at St. Mary’s. Thank you to the Dutchak family, the Canora Ambulance Service, the Canora RCMP and a special thank you to Johnny, Wayne’s friend and hunting buddy, for their heroic efforts that day. Thank you to everyone that attended the visitation on Thursday and the funeral on Friday and thank you to Bailey’s Funeral Home for their guidance and support. A special thank you to Dean, who helped us through the funeral preparations with so much care and compassion, allowing us to include Wayne’s life passions in the service. Also a huge thank you to Reverend Karen Kuzek for the lovely service and her endless patience. -Forever grateful Barry, Connie & David, Roy and families.
