The Conference is designed to bring together NZ businesses from across ASEAN and NZ in one place, to experience workshops, keynote speakers, site visits and more. Andy is on the Executive Team at Fintech Venture Studio Centrality where he leads a portfolio of smart city, transport and travel focused startup and early stage ventures. As a former Auckland City Director and Executive Leader Andy was responsible for numerous private public partnerships in Auckland including smart city platform City On. His experience with City On and user data privacy issues led him to his current mission to solve the City experience problem with CentraPass.

CLARE WILSON Regional Director, East Asia NEW ZEALAND TRADE AND ENTERPRISE BASE: SINGAPORE
Clare is based in Singapore and oversees NZTE’s activities and business relationships across the East Asia region. Most recently Clare was NZTE’s Regional Director for Australia and the Pacific, leading work in three offices in Australia and one in Port Moresby. Prior to this she was New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner/Consul General with responsibility for offices in Milan and Istanbul. Clare brings a broad experience in the private sector to the team. She has worked in senior Marketing and Management roles in the tourism and sport sector, including Marketing Manager of Tourism Holdings and Sponsorship Manager of the Blues and Auckland Rugby. Prior to joining NZTE she was Marketing Manager at St John, where her particular interest was in telehealth and packages of care for the elderly to provide better health outcomes. In 1996, Clare and her business partner formed Philadelphia Consulting Group which continues today to provide SME business consultancy in New Zealand. Although born in Auckland, Clare is fluent in Italian having undertaken a student exchange in Sardinia for a year. She received her undergraduate degrees in Art and Commerce from the University of Auckland and her Postgraduate Diploma in Packaging Technology from Massey University. In 2005, she completed her MBA from the University of Auckland.

DANIEL BRUNT New Zealand Customs Counsellor for South East Asia NEW ZEALAND FOREIGN AFFAIRS & TRADE BASE: THAILAND
Dan Brunt is the New Zealand Customs Counsellor for South East Asia, based in Bangkok. Dan’s responsibilities cover all four Pillars of the NZ Customs Service’s focus areas being Protection,

Revenue
collection
and
importantly for Trade facilitation. Prior to coming to Bangkok, Dan was the Operations Manager, Service Delivery where he oversaw the operations of the goods clearance function of the NZ Customs Service and was part of the team who developed and implemented the Trade Single Window. Dan was also responsible for the effective operation of the NZ Customs Excise and Licensing regime, Secure Export Scheme and public facing goods clearance business units nationally.

GWEN ROBINSON Editor-at-Large NIKKEI ASIAN REVIEW BASE: THAILAND
Gwen Robinson is Editor-at-Large of the Nikkei Asian Review, an English-language journal and website focused on Asian affairs, and a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Security and International Studies at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, where she researches contemporary Southeast Asian politics and economy. From 1995 to 2013 she was a correspondent and senior editor with the Financial Times, based in Europe, the US and Asia, including in London, Tokyo, New York and Bangkok. In 2004 she was a visiting fellow at the Lowy Institute in Sydney. In the 1990s she was Tokyo correspondent for The Times of London and an editor and writer at the Nikkei Weekly. From 1985 to 1990 she covered Southeast Asia from Manila and Bangkok. She was born in Japan and educated in Australia where she attended the Australian National University and studied Asian history.

Jane is NZTE’s Business Development Manager for food and beverage in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, based in Bangkok. Jane’s career has been dedicated to the food and beverage industry. Beginning with the United States Potato Board, Thailand representative office, Jane worked to educate and increase consumption of US potatoes in across multiple channels. Later Jane joined Unilever’s South East Asia regional office, based in Singapore, as a Regional Assistant Brand Manager. As part of Jane’s education and career development, she has lived and worked in Europe, Asia and the USA. It’s her passion to learn and gain insights from different cultures – especially food culture. Jane graduated with a first class honours in Liberal Arts (British and American studies) from Thammasat University and went on to earn a master’s degree in European Business from École supérieure de commerce de Paris (ESCP Europe). She is currently undertaking an Executive MBA from Thailand’s SASIN School of Management in Bangkok.

Lena currently acts as the Chief Investment Officer for Amata Corporation Public Company Ltd and oversees Smart Cities development, Urban Transformation, Strategic Investments and Mergers & Acquisitions. Mr. Mario Jordan Fetalino III is the Founder and CEO of Acudeen Technologies, Inc., an online peer-to-peer marketplace for Receivables Discounting in the Philippines – winner of Seedstars Global 2017 & Founder Institute’s Best Global Fintech 2017, and enlisted by IDC at the Top 10 fastest growing Fintechs in the Philippines. Mr. Fetalino created a facility that provides accessible financing to underbanked SME’s in the Philippines by letting them sell their receivables from multinationals and blue-chip companies to Acudeen’s funders. Today, Acudeen is present in 2 markets, Philippines and Myanmar. Magellan, as how his family, colleagues and friends call him, took up B.S. Pannee Chengsuttha (Ms.) is an Executive Investment Advisor, Thailand Board of Investment. She graduated from Kasetsart University and did her MBA at the University of Wales, College of Cardiff with the full scholarship of British Government. She has been working at Office of the Board of Investment since 1986. Her past experience include various jobs in investment promotion, attending the international bilateral and multilateral fora in ASEAN, ASEM,APEC, IMT-GT, BIMSTEC, FTA Thai-US, FTA Thai-EU, and etc. as a representative. She used to be the shepherd of ASEAN countries in Investment Working Group (IWG) in ASEM Forum. She was Head of a BOI overseas office in Paris, France during 2005-2009. She was responsible for FDI promotion activities in 9 countries in Western Europe including the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherland, Luxemburg and Ireland. Her current responsibility, among others, is an advisor on investment promotion activities. She is an author of many articles both in Thai and English which appeared in national newspapers, BOI’s journals and newsletters.

DR PAVIDA PANANOND Associate Professor of International Business THAMMASAT BUSINESS SCHOOL, THAMMASAT UNIVERSITY BASE: THAILAND
Pavida Pananond is Associate Professor of International Business at Thammasat Business School, Thammasat University. Pavida received her Ph.D. in Economics (International Business) from the University of Reading (UK), MBA from McGill University (Canada), and BA in Accounting from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand). She studies the internationalisation of firms, global value chain, and economic upgrading, with specific reference to strategies of firms from emerging economies. Her research has appeared as book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Multinational Business Review, Journal of International Management, and Asia Pacific Journal of Management. Her commentaries have also been published, and cited in local and international media, including The Economist, Financial Times, and the BBC. Pavida serves on a number of editorial boards of academic journals, including Journal of International Business Policy, and is Honorary Adviser to Asia New Zealand Foundation, New Zealand’s leading non-government authority on Asia. In addition to MBA and executive teaching, she also provides briefings to diplomatic missions, chambers of commerce, and multinational companies. Pavida regularly appears at a broad range of public seminars as speaker as well as moderator. Her professional affiliations include Associate Member of the John Dunning Centre for International Business, University of Reading, in the UK, and of Emerging Market Internationalization Research Group, University of Sydney Business School, in Australia. Pavida also serves as independent director and audit committee member of Precious Shipping Public Company Limited (PSL), Thailand’s largest listed company in dry cargo shipping.

Shaun Paulian is the Corporate & Commercial Partner of Malek, Paulian & Gan | Advocates & Solicitors, a specialist advisory legal firm in Malaysia. Shaun has had a wide experience base on the development of fintech companies in the region, wherein he advises Malaysian entities and foreign-owned companies on the ever-changing regulatory and compliance landscapes involved in this space. Shaun has spent the past 4 years focusing on regulatory changes of Payment Systems linked with the Malaysian National Bank, and watched the vast growth in the space of B2C facing e-wallets and the like. DR THITINAN PONGSUDHIRAK Director of the Institute of Security and International Studies and Associate Professor of International Political Economy CHULALONGKORN UNIVERSITY BASE: THAILAND
Dr Thitinan Pongsudhirak is a sought-after speaker on topics ranging from Thailand’s domestic politics, political economy and foreign policy to ASEAN dynamics and international affairs more broadly. He has delivered stand-alone public lectures and private briefings on these topics to leading financial institutions, multinational corporations, international chambers of commerce, and diplomatic missions, and has lectured widely at local and international universities, military colleges, and international organisations. He has provided many individual consultations to investors on both portfolio and direct investments in the context of Thai politics and macroeconomy with coverage of ASEAN markets, with reference to Mainland Southeast Asia and Greater Mekong Subregion. Apart from his occasional speaking engagements, Thitinan is Director of the Institute of Security and International Studies (ISIS) and Associate Professor of International Political Economy at the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University. From a multicultural and bilingual background, Thitinan was born and raised in Thailand through primary school, and completed high school and university in California. His post graduate work in international economics and international relations at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) later led to his PhD at the London School of Economics where his work on the political economy of the 1997 Thai economic crisis was awarded the United Kingdom’s Best Dissertation Prize in 2002. In March 2018, he was appointed ASEAN@50 Fellow by New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In May 2019, he was selected as Australia-ASEAN Fellow based at Sydney’s Lowy Institute.
