Young Back Interior Design
The combination of People, Art, Business and Technology thats the beauty in interior design and the source of my inspiration to being an interior deisgner. I have always loved interacting with people and learning more about different cultures and their ways of teaching. I see interior design as a psychology based art in which it reflects an individual’s behavior and needs. Raised in South Korea and moving to the United States in highschool, my journey has shared with me many stories and ideas through the mixture of my Korean culture and Western experience. My skills in painting and drawing has opened up my mind to visualize interior space as a 3D blank canvas. Interior design is a process of solving problems that can be enhanced with creativity. It is a daily experience and observation to every people around, helping in creating stroies and capturing memorable experiences. It is an understanding of building systems and a mixture of technology, design and psychology, which leads to createing a habitable environment for the people.

According to Attention Restoration Theory, the staff will recover faster from mental fatique and focus better on work and leading to better productivity. Therefore, the space provides nature oriented working space which gives sense of freedom in order to extricate the workers from the ordinary and repeating atmosphere of the working space. The choice of wood furnitures and finishes are to bring warmth into the interior space.

Ooze is a collaborative learning center that aims to encourage positive interaction and reduce stress for youth in Hong Kong. Water becomes the predominant element in the user journey. Through the journey, human centric design is applied based on psychology and humanities thvat plays with the user’s 5 senses. The occupants can experience different educational spaces through the unique circulation.
Ooze Ramp Detail
The main concept is derived from the natural flow of water. As water flows downwards the interior and exterior ramps take on the concept guide the visitors down flowing waters.
Water Exterior Journey Interior Journey
As the school is located in front of a mountain, the project took the principle flow of Feng Shui; mountain in the back and water in the front.
The entrance of the building will provide a welcoming environment through interactive elements of architecture. Water from the top floor blankets the entrance of the elevator to initiate the journey. The elevator in the entrance of the building encourages people to follow the water all the way to its source. LED columns will enhance interaction between program and client. The columns will also provide help with information and mapping. Warmer colors were chosen to exemplify the mood of positive energy. G/F Entrance Lobby
R/F Roof Top
The rooftop is where the water journey starts and provides green space to users providing them with the feel of nature in middle of the compact city.
R/F Roof Top Garden
Like the flow of water, the journey moves downwards. Starting from the top of the building the water guides the users down the building. The design form is inspired by the natural flow of water. Due to the small area of the plan, the windows and higher ceiling provides a sense of openness in the space.

/Rit/ is about both a physical and spiritual embrace. It redefines the meaning of spa by ritual cleansing through space. The project is located in Little Havana where people from all over the world corrugated in the small town to witness and partake in the celebration of Cuban American culture. This unique cultural characteristic reminded me of a religious service in which people get together and become a single congregation, in which an outsider takes his initial steps in becoming part of the congregation. The concept is intrigued by the idea of “out of many people become one” through rituals and got the inspiration from the thought of people come to a place to find peace and soul to be cleansed.
The first floor represents the physical world. As it provides massage rooms for the users, a room for physical cleansing; the space is designed with earthy elements to connect the body with the physical aspects of the world. The color palette is inspired by earthy toned elements.
The second floor represents the spiritual world. Providing spaces for yoga and meditation, it is a space that will allow users to cleanse their minds. The color palette is inspired to enhance the senses, using lighter colors and natural light to elevate the mood of the users.

Hong Kong Gold Coast Rendering Rhino/ Photoshop
Hong Kong Gold Coast is an accessible yet idyllic retreat merely 30 minutes drive from the hustles and bustles of the city. Situated by a beautiful marina and golden beach, Hong Kong Gold Coast spans hectares of lush greenery and landscape that offers a relaxing leisure lifestyle, attracting international and local tourists as well as friendly neighborhood communities attracted to the outdoors, sun and sand.
Interior Furniture Selection Rendering Photoshop
Selecting interior finishes is one of the key skill that interior designers should have. This project was to understand interior style such as Neoclassical, Shakers, Elsie de Wolfe and more. The furniture selections, color palette, and the design details were made based on my own understanding of periodical characteristic of each style.

Childhood Amnesia Not Measurable Installation Adults are unable to retrieve episodic memories periodically before the age 10. But it does not mean the memories are gone. Cumulated memories are still part of us and contribute to what we are now. I created a small room, which seems to have been neglected in the forest. I wanted the viewers to imagine how our childhood memories exist in the basement of our mind. Lighted candles show a sorrow of it’s loss.
Thrall (Aprox) 1’ x 1’x 1’ Mixed Media A book inspired from a Velasquez’s painting, “Portrait of Juan de Pareja”. The person in the painting represents an African American, who was not readily accepted as an artist because of his dark skin. The ‘lace’ mentioned in the book represents his class. The higher their class, the bigger and more beautiful the lace they wear. The man in the painting wears a small thin piece of lace around his neck. Big beautiful lace around the torso represents dignity and value. Lace is a visualization of our worth whereas the crystals on the left chest describe a heart; much like the diamond that is hard yet beautiful. The work is telling us that we should not be discouraged because of someone’s prejudice.
Hangul 31.5”x 46” Mixed Media Hangul’s principle of creation is based on the theory preached by the school of Yin-Yang. Made of straight lines and dots, The ‘ ㅡ’ represent the earth, the ‘.’ represent the sky and ‘ㅣ’ means humans. The bottom half of the artwork is rectangular shape based on the letter that represents the ground. On the upper half of the artwork, there’s a round shape of a hall that represents the shape of the sky. The complicated symmetrical patterns that surround each shape carry the meaning of humanity in connection with the sky and the ground. The whole design of this piece is trying to show the beauty of the universe and the Korean language.
