SHEARWATER HOTEL, BALLINASLOE, CO. GALWAY
Welcome from
An Taoiseach I invite you to join me at the YFG National Conference in the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway from 25th –27th November 2016. I look forward each year to this event and the opportunity it presents both to reconnect and to get to know our new members. This year, as we prepare to mark 40 years of YFG in 2017, we reflect in particular on the growth of our Party’s youth wing and also look at its potential into the future. Of course, we will also reflect on Fine Gael in Government and the unique circumstances in which our Party now finds itself. The fact remains that the Government of the 32nd Dáil is quite unlike any other established in Ireland since the foundation of the State, comprising of Fine Gael, members of the Independent Alliance and a number of independent TDs. And, whilst these new circumstances might present some challenges, they present also a valuable opportunity for Fine Gael to continue its work for the betterment of the lives of all the people of Ireland. For the past five years I and the previous Government have worked to end the economic crisis, exit our international bailout and to help create new jobs. And, though the sense of crisis has now passed, we still have much work ahead of us to ensure that work and opportunity is present for all families across Ireland. Today Ireland also faces other challenges in the areas of housing and homelessness, in healthcare provision and in providing relief for working families. And these are the very issues which we are working to resolve in the period ahead. So it is clear we have a lot to discuss in Ballinasloe! I do hope that you will be able to join us. Best wishes,
Enda Kenny TD Taoiseach and Leader of Fine Gael
