NEW S OF T H E WORL D L EA DER IN ESS ENTIAL OI L S
A MESSAGE FROM MARY Hello, Everyone, Now that the excitement of the holidays has faded and the newness of the first month has shaped our plans, it’s time to move forward with imagination and creativity to stay focused on our goals, expressing positive determination as we help each other achieve our Highest Potential. Gary always said, “If you speak your intentions out loud, you put that energy into motion. Then allow your focus to carry you to your destination. That is how I have accomplished so much in my life.” It's a wonderful example of how we can reach our goals with absolute belief in self-knowing. This new year promises to be fulfilling and rewarding for those who keep their eyes on that goal and never give up until it is reached. I look forward to hearing of your successes and celebrating with you, as we open new markets, meet new people, and share our experiences. My best to all,
LIVE YOUR PASSION RALLY FOCUSES ON FRESH STARTS January’s Live Your Passion Rally spotlights a better earth, a better business, and a better you
A Young Living Live Your Passion Rally (LYPR) is the best way to spark new excitement, and January’s LYPR was no exception! Close to 200,000 members in 44 countries at more than 3,600 events celebrated Young Living’s accomplishments from the last 25 years while looking toward a bright future fueled by our 5×5 Pledge. They also learned skills for achieving success in building a business and beyond. The year’s first LYPR provided tools for achieving whole-life wellness, from tips on supporting a better earth to using YL products to become a better you. A BETTER EARTH The Young Living 5×5 Pledge will redefine our industry leadership and elevate our positive impact on the earth, communities, and individual families—5 million families, to be exact. Here are some changes you can make to help us achieve the pledge’s goal of zero waste by 2024. • Go paperless whenever possible. • Replace single-use plastics with reusable ones. • Turn off lights when you leave a room. A BETTER START We were proud to launch a new Premium Starter Kit featuring the return of Peace and Calming® and Valor®, as well as refreshed tools and materials. We are excited to offer this better-than-ever resource to our newest members. A BETTER BUSINESS Starting a new year with new goals and a fresh perspective is exciting, but sometimes it’s difficult to maintain motivation and consistency. No matter the size of your business, setting S.M.A.R.T. goals is the best way to grow! • Specific: A specific goal has focus. Instead of saying, “I want to be a Royal Crown Diamond,” say, “I will build my business at least 5 percent per month this year.” • Measurable: A measurable goal is based on metrics. An example is, “I will bring five new people into my downline.”
THE FOUNDATION REMINISCES ON 2018 Recapping a year of empowerment
Celebrating the Young Living Foundation’s most successful year yet!
Looking back at 2018, The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation is grateful for the boundless generosity of Young Living members. Thanks to your support, the Foundation has been able to empower more individuals than ever before through our projects and partnerships.

Research shows that being accountable is the strongest driving force for reaching the finish line. • Relevant: Set goals that are consistent with other established goals and fit in with your immediate and long-term plans. • Time-Bound: You can have daily goals, monthly goals, yearly goals, or even lifetime goals. Be very specific with the dates and deadlines you choose. A BETTER YOU The new year is the best time to take charge of the wellness of your mind, body, and soul. After a year of being under construction, the Young Living Foundation Hope Center, Sole Hope’s new jigger treatment center, opened its doors on January 11. The Sole Hope team is elated with this new building, an upgrade to their program that will allow them to treat and empower twice as many patients. In May the Foundation successfully completed rebuilding 100 homes and a primary school in Yarsa, Nepal. Members and staff witnessed as 100 families moved into their new homes at the same time. At the close of this project, the Foundation assessed where Nepal’s needs still existed and announced new projects to restore 16 schools and two women’s centers. The passion and dedication of Young Living members shined bright at the 2018 International Grand Convention as over $1 million was raised in support of our partner Hope for Justice. With those funds the Foundation will support the expansion of the Shine Career School, two lighthouse centers in Cambodia, three in Uganda, and five in Ethiopia. Healing Faith Uganda has extended the hours of the Young Living Foundation Malaria Center from three days per week to five. This Malaria Center, located on the banks of Lake Victoria at the onset of the Nile River in Jinja, Uganda, is an area where malaria transmission is at an all-time high. The extended hours are allowing the Healing Faith team to maximize their outreach, ultimately saving more lives. The Young Living Academy celebrated 23 new graduates in February, marking four consecutive years at a 100 percent graduation rate. Over the course of two service trips during 2018, five homes were constructed for five Young Living

INNOVATION ABOUNDS AT THE D. GARY YOUNG RESEARCH INSTITUTE
Continued from page 1 Academy students’ families. Family members and Young Living members worked side by side building homes for those who needed them most. As we reminisce on a very successful 2018, we are excited and look ahead to more surprises and successes in the 10th year of The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation in 2019!
Young Living strengthens position as world leader in research and formula development for natural products
Last June Young Living’s Research and Development team became the D. Gary Young Research Institute. Chief Science Officer Dr. Michael Buch renamed the team to honor the legacy of Young Living Founder D. Gary Young. The name fits; the Research Institute has a strong commitment to Gary’s vision and commitment to quality, as well as his drive for continuous improvement and innovation. The Research Institute has a dual focus, carried out by two branches: Research and Product Development. The Research branch works shoulder to shoulder with the Sourcing team and oversees our industry-leading analytical laboratories. They also develop new claims, verify our compliance with current product claims, and set testing specifications for YL products. The Research Institute’s method for creating precise testing specifications helps Young Living set the standard for authentic, effective essential oils. The institute distills authentic plant materials on a small scale and analyzes the pure oil collected. They use the data to establish rigorous quality standards and then apply these standards to evaluate batches of essential oils for quality. “This is key to adulteration prevention,” says Richard
Carlson, PhD, executive director of research and analytical sciences. “We want to have the world’s largest essential oil knowledge base.” The Product Development branch helps bring Young Living products to life. The team includes certified food scientists, cosmetic chemists, and engineers and specializes in creating in-house formulas for YL’s clean products, including our Thieves® and Savvy Minerals® lines. They build on the innovative ideas created by managers, members, and consultants to develop new YL products. The institute also ensures the safety and efficacy of our label claims. Last year they partnered with third-party laboratories to conduct over 50 studies to ensure our products do what we claim they do—which means you can feel confident using our products. You can get up close and personal with the Research Institute at Young Living’s new Global Headquarters, where the research lab will be located front and center on the first floor. The new lab will allow visitors to learn more about the Science pillar of our Seed to Seal® quality commitment and see the Research Institute’s dedication to discovering new technologies, new applications, and new oils for you and your family.
ROYAL HAWAIIAN SANDALWOOD VS. SACRED SANDALWOOD Why you need both in your collection
Close your eyes and breathe in the warm, woodsy aroma of Sandalwood essential oil, and you’ll be instantly reminded of a relaxing day at the spa. But did you know that there are two varieties of this self-care staple? Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood® and Sacred Sandalwood™ are similar, but each has a unique origin and aroma that makes it ideal for certain uses. Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood If you think of these two Sandalwoods as sisters, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood is the peppy, bright little sister. This oil’s sweetness lends a more concentrated punch that wonderfully complements snappy citrus oils and complex spicy oils. We recommend diffusing Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood during long commutes and rush hour traffic when you need some brightness in your life. Sacred Sandalwood Imagine Sacred Sandalwood as the calmer, more grounded big sister. This oil’s balmy, warm aroma brings you all the comfort and rejuvenation you need after a tough day. Sweeten its base notes with the honeyed scent of Neroli or diversify its sultry tones with a fresh touch of Cypress. To promote radiant-looking
skin, take the advice of this EO big sister and add a drop or two of Sacred Sandalwood to your daily moisturizer. Just as no family is complete without the wild child or the steady role model, no Young Living essential oil collection is complete without Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood and Sacred Sandalwood. Think of Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood when you want a hint of sweetness added to your diffuser blends; then reach for Sacred Sandalwood when you’re craving a calming presence to center you during yoga practice. Either way, these woodsy aromas will be an indispensable part of each day!

ESSENTIALLY YOURS
Here are some of your responses from December’s Essential Edge question: “What are your favorite essential oils or blends to add to a hot bath?” “When I want a nice, relaxing bath, I add 7-8 drops each of Peppermint and Lavender. I love to lie back, close my eyes, and take deep breaths of the soothing scents while I soak. My husband prefers to put Stress Away™ in his bathwater; he loves the Lime and Copaiba in it!” —Elizabeth M. “After a long, busy day, I like to unwind by adding half a cup of Epsom salts and 10-12 drops of PanAway® to a warm bath. Peace & Calming® is also a great go-to for the bath at the end of the day.” —Kristy T. “Sometimes a good soak is exactly what I need after a long day. I will fill up the tub, add 5 drops of Copaiba and 5 drops of Lavender, and settle in with a good book. It is true bliss.” —Ricky W. “I use Lavender for so many things, and I especially love it in my baths. I turn off the light, add some candles for ambience, and put on some nature music. I also like Geranium. It smells so floral and feminine, and it’s such a lovely aromatic experience.” —Kate T. “I love adding a little Lemongrass and Spearmint to my warm bathwater. I get out of the bath feeling inspired and refreshed— and it leaves my bathroom and my skin smelling incredible!” —Jo P.

MEET THE NEW WINNERS IN AUSTRALIA! YL partner farm recognized for innovative distillation process
Because Young Living pioneered the modern essential oils movement, we tend to attract others who are innovative in their respective industries. Vince Collins, who owns YL’s Outback Botanical Reserve and Distillery partner farm, is one such innovator. He was recently recognized for his inventive distillation method at the 2018 Chief Minister’s NT (Northern Territory) Expert and Industry Awards. Vince and his wife Maryann partnered with Young Living in 2007. The lush cypress trees that fill their land are surrounded by a gorgeous red-rock backdrop in Darwin, Australia. It’s here that Vince turned his dream of creating Blue Cypress essential oil into a reality by developing a new, now-patented method of distillation that resulted in our unique oil. Now he’s being recognized for his breakthrough! EO enthusiasts and business gurus alike can see how Vince’s pioneering techniques resulted in new users and lovers of Blue Cypress across the globe. As the 2018 winner of the Territory FM Small Business Award, Vince shows that innovation and perseverance go hand in hand in creating success. His hard work and dedication to Young Living’s Seed to Seal® quality commitment blend beautifully with our mission to inspire wellness, purpose, and abundance. If you’d like to experience the culmination of Vince’s hard work and Young Living’s mission, use Blue Cypress in your daily regimen. Try adding it to your favorite moisturizer to boost hydration! That’s not all for Australia! Phil and Dee-Ann Prather, owners of our Gihndagun Farm, were finalists for the Agribusiness Award and won an award at the Australian Export Awards in October 2018. The Gihndagun Farm provides Young Living with Tea Tree essential oil, and the Prathers are an important part of the success of Young Living! Thanks to the passion of these Young Living partners, you get to add Australian beauties like Blue Cypress and Tea Tree to your essential oil collection. We’re thrilled to congratulate our partner farms on their recognitions and awards.
Young Living Canada added a new reason to celebrate the 2018 holiday season with the second Canadian Convention, which took place last November in Vancouver, British Columbia. The event united 3,000 members of our YL Canada family, who came together to learn, share, and celebrate “The Future You.” CEO Mary Young attended the convention, where she inspired attendees and emphasized the importance of showing gratitude by loving and supporting one another. She also reminded members that they have the power to motivate others by example. “What defines you as a leader is how you make someone else feel," she told the crowd. Along with treating attendees to motivational speakers and special performances, Young Living Canada launched 15 limited-edition holiday collections. Launches included the eagerly anticipated Advent Calendar, which sold out in 48 hours. The collections and calendar accounted for $3.8 million USD in total sales and played a large role in Young Living Canada experiencing its first million-dollar sales day in 2018. The weekend of the Canadian Convention was full of product launches, uplifting keynotes, and holiday cheer; it was also brimming with the opportunity to discover, grow, and celebrate Young Living Canada’s bright future. The convention wasn’t the only thing Young Living Canada celebrated during fourth quarter. It also wrapped up 2018 with two new Royal Crown Diamonds and four new Diamonds. What a wonderful way to finish the year! We’re excited to see what our Canadian members accomplish in 2019!
