IN JORDAN’S WORDS:

“During my time at YSU I have become involved in many organizations which have provided me with amazing leadership opportunities. During my freshman year I interviewed against thirty other candidates for one of three freshmen representative positions. After receiving the position, I have continued to grow in the organization. I am now serving as the Parliamentarian; which oversees our governing documents/legislation, constitutional procedures, and efficiency of meetings. I have learned how to work with many students and convey complicated information to them. I have learned how to assess difficult situations and make tough decisions as my time as parliamentarian. YSU has truly given me so many opportunities to grow as a leader and I am extremely thankful for that as well as looking forward to the years to come at this institution.”

ADVISOR’S THOUGHTS:

“Jordan is a Political Science and Philosophy tutor for our center, and can be characterized as responsible, friendly, and a great-role model. Jordan has demonstrated many leadership qualities throughout her work as a Peer Tutor which includes a focus on others, reliability, empowerment, and empathy. She also exhibits a great deal of professionalism, exceeding all expectations set forth by her supervisors. I strongly believe that YSU benefits from having Jordan on campus. She is an inspiring leader, and through her roles as a Peer Tutor and Parliamentarian, I can confidently say that she is more than deserving of this recognition.”

IN CASSANDRA’S WORDS:

“Being involved in many diverse organizations has not only helped me develop my leadership skills and become more well‐rounded, but I have been able to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. These student leadership experiences have enriched my overall college experience by introducing me to new people, specifically those not in the business college. Not only has this allowed me to network with peers but gain friends as well.”

ADVISOR’S THOUGHTS:

“Cassandra is truly an impressive individual who excels academically as well as interpersonally. Through her leadership in various organizations, she demonstrates a commitment to service and inclusion throughout campus and in the community. One of the most rewarding and beneficial to our YSU students, is her role as the Founding Chapter President of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). As President, Cassandra is the main driver behind all of the planned activities such as networking events, social gatherings, and community service projects that the YSU chapter hosts regularly. These activities allow members be part of a prestigious community of high-achieving students who exemplify scholarship and provide many opportunities for leadership and community service. The impact of her service and leadership within this prominent group of scholars is immeasurable.”
