n THE COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO WHAT’S ON IN YORK

Now the year can begin! ight, are we all warmed up after January? Good – let’s start 2018. February is such an amazing month that it sort of feels like a new beginning, allowing us all to put the problems and difficulties of January behind us. Roll on fab February! And what a place to spend some time during this awesome month. Unlike other towns and cities, who spend this month wrapped up in a duvet awaiting the springtime, York is alive and kicking, staying warm by Events p.10

we would love to hear from you! WHATSONINYORK.ORG

EVENTS

Residents of York know that February is the month when our Norse ancestors return to the city to retake it for their own. Fortunately the returning Viking hordes are less interested in slaughtering us all, and more concerned with fun and education. The Jorvik Viking Festival will be stocked with talks, walks, stalls, activities, battle re-enactments, and beard competitions. Seriously.

And we have the full festival listings contained herein. Apart from that, York will play host to lots of other fun stuff, from gigs, theatre shows, charity events, exhibitions, attractions, and even a real life space ship at the National Railway Museum. Yep, a space ship next to the trains. Why not, eh? It’s Fab Feb!

Have a great month and keep this issue close by! Food & Drink p.30

Fronted by lead singer Jordan Brown, previously of New Law, the five piece describe themselves as ‘five mates having a good time’. You would believe them, with their uncoordinated aesthetic and laid back stage presence, but their sound is much more serious than that, think indie rock laced with deep grove and hard hitting choruses.
