Good choice... ello there, stranger. Congratulations on picking this cutie-pie of a magazine up – there's nothing we like better than being handled by a curious person, eager to discover what is indeed 'on'. Usually we thank our readers for scooping up copies of What's On, but this month we really want to hug you. Go ahead, hold the magazine against your chest and squeeze. Ahh... that's the stuff. The reason we're so happy that you've decided to seek the answer to 'what's on' in this very Events p.10

copy of What's On, is because June is probably our favourite time of the year. June in York is like all the other best times of the year, in all the other cities of the world, rolled into one. Trust us; York does June like Yorkshire does puddings, Cornwall does pasties, and the Houses of Parliament does a fruity sauce. The sheer wealth of stuff happening in June is amazing; from Roman legions marching through the Museum Gardens as part of the Eboracum Roman Festival, to an authentic recreation
of an Elizabethan theatre and village at Shakespeare's Rose Theatre by the castle. Normally you need a Delorean, some plutonium, and an elderly scientist friend to see all that. As well as the headline-grabbing events like those, there are dozens of smaller things kicking off all over the city, and wandering around, this copy of What's On in hand, is the best way to soak up all the loveliness. Whatever you get up, keep us handy, slap on some sun cream (the sun is closer to the earth, here in York) and have fun! Food & Drink p.30
