n THE COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO WHAT’S ON IN YORK
Mad hares need not apply Yes, it is March, and yes, it may bring to mind the image of rabbits running around, all amorous and crazy, but come on... this is York. In York we like to take March easy, following a pretty intensive few months. We had Christmas (which we do better than any other city – even the secret North Pole city where Santa lives), and then back-to-back festivals
through January and February to keep us all warm. So you can hardly blame us for taking it easy in March Mind you, York’s version of taking it easy is way more intensive than you might expect, resulting in yet another packed month of awesome goings-on. We have, however, managed to keep our heart rates down by staging the York Literature Festival this month,
so booklovers can curl up and enjoy a good read, hear from authors, take part in workshops, and also watch films. As well as that, other highlights include the York Model Railway Show at the Racecourse, the Living North Live Spring Show, and a whole host of interesting exhibitions, performances, walks, talks, and things that involve sitting down and
relaxing. Ahh... Oh, and don’t forget to bring mum to the city on Mothering Sunday. Do so, and you’ll win big points. And we all know what points mean? Yes, being left more in her will. Ha! So take a load off this March, get you and yours to York, and enjoy the most relaxing time of the year. Because from next month we’re kicking it into overdrive. Probably.
Front Cover Illustrated by Elliot Harrison from Bishopthorpe Rd, York. Cards and prints available from local independent shops or (york360.co.uk/prints). Also a new exhibition of drawings in 'Owl & Monkey', Heslington Rd in April. Events p.10
