The Albany Trio is a versatile and innovative ensemble whose repertoire focuses on works by female composers, both current and historic, alongside the traditional canon of piano trio music.
York Minster, Deangate, York
Critically acclaimed as “a poet of the keyboard”, his playing described as “effortlessly refined”, Pavel Kolesnikov has been in huge demand since winning the Honens International Piano Competition in 2012. This thought-provoking and fascinating programme takes us from darkness to light by way of some of the most characteristic music ever written for the piano.
Judith Bingham’s trio was written for them and was premiered by them live on BBC Radio 3. They will also play Beethoven’s haunting Ghost trio, and Ravel’s beautiful essay in the genre.
York Musical Society Chorus & Orchestra, four soloists.
Brought into the limelight in 2016 by her success in the BBC Young Musician competition, Jess Gillam’s status as one of Britain’s most exciting musicians was confirmed by her performance at the 2018 Last Night of the Proms, bringing the house down with Milhaud's popular and mischievous Scaramouche. Zeynep Özsuca is considered ‘one of today’s great ensemble pianists’ performing worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.
