York Against Cancer has got the keys to its brand-new, purpose-built headquarters at the LNER Community Stadium in Huntington. Preparations are well under way to create an exciting new gift and card shop and to fit out a modern workplace for York Against Cancer’s six full and part-time office staff, who are currently based at North Moor Road, Huntington. Julie said York Against Cancer hoped to complete its move within three months, opening a new chapter in the charity’s 30-plus years of providing local cancer care, research and education. “This is huge for us,” said Julie. “It is a massive step forward that will put us in front of a brand-new audience and give us a springboard into the future. “We’ll have great visibility that we hope will bring us new customers, supporters, fundraisers and volunteers, and we’ll be able to get the word out that we are there as the go-to place for people to turn to when they most need help.” As well as welcoming customers to its new shop once lockdown rules are relaxed, York Against Cancer will continue to operate a shop within York Hospital.

The portraits cost just £10, with all the proceeds going towards Keep Your Pet. For an extra £5, you can include a personalised message, too. This cheeky chap is bursting with energy and after living his life so far indoors he can’t wait to feel the grass under his paws and the sunshine on his back. Thomas has never had the opportunity to go outside and express his natural cat behaviours so a home with a good-sized garden away from busy roads is a must for this handsome boy. He will also benefit from experienced owners as although he is incredibly loving he can play a little rough sometimes! If you can offer Thomas lots of interaction and regular play sessions, then he may well be just the cat that you have been looking for.

We have a treat in store for you this month with the adorable and devastatingly handsome Toby. Poor Toby was handed in for rehoming after his previous owners could no longer afford to keep him. He was pretty shell-shocked when he first arrived but has since settled into cattery life and loves nothing more than a good old head rub from one of his adoring fans (which there are many!) Toby doesn’t ask for much in life, he just wants to feel safe and secure again with a warm bed, regular grub and an endless supply of love and affection. Not too much to ask, is it? A unique opportunity to buy a rather large teddy bear in aid of the Animals Asia Foundation from Stonegate Teddy Bears has arisen.
