SALE e PEPE
from Your West End
Now under control of The Thesleff Group, who own MexicanJapanese restaurant Los Mochis Notting Hill, Viajante87, and soon to open Los Mochis City; Knightsbridge favourite Sale e Pepe is entering a new era.
49 years on from its inception, Sale e Pepe’s distinctive decadent style has charmed many, transcended time and has become a stalwart of the London dining scene. Featuring the same red marble and neon signage adorning its front, it emulates elevated Italian luxury and The Thesleff Group is bringing a revitalised energy and refinement ahead of its golden anniversary.
Located on Pavilion Road, just around the corner from Harrods, the iconic restaurant opened in 1974, before fast becoming a must-visit destination.
With a community feel, Sale e Pepe offers the perfect cultural melting pot of local neighbourhood regulars and the international jet set, hosting some of the world’s most famous film stars, fashion icons, rock stars, aristocracy and media moguls including Rod
Stewart, Sir Roger Moore, Priscilla Presley and Ringo Starr. The carefully and thoughtfully refreshed menu boasts a range of modern day Italian classics made from the highest quality ingredients and seasonal produce. New dishes include insalata di granchio - crab and avocado salad with tomato concassé, spring onions, chives, pimiento de espelette and lemon dressing; and the buttery costoletta di vitello alla milanese - bone-in pan fried veal chop in breadcrumbs which is not for the faint hearted.
Other highlights include yellowfin tuna tartare with basil pesto and sundried tomatoes; and flaky baked cod with cherry tomatoes, pine seeds and taggiasche olives.
Signature classics also remain including the delectable linguine al’aragosta - linguine with lobster, cherry tomatoes, basil, and garlic; and dover sole.
Welcoming, warm and with a service that is unrivalled - and quite frankly, hard to find these days - Sale e Pepe is a true trattoria in the capital that has stood the test of time.
