WATCHES

TIME FOR HELP Watchmakers are not physicians. However they can craft timepieces that directly support emergency medical assistance. To this end, Nomos Glashütte has cooperated with Doctors Without Borders for more than eight years already and is now continuing this cooperation through two new watches - the self-winding model Ahoi in a ladies’ as well as a men’s size. Both will help field physicians respond to emergencies thanks to each watch sold delivering EUR 250 directly to Doctors Without Borders Germany. As with the previous model, these watches are distinguished by their red twelve. Drawing upon its experience with previous pandemics, the Nobel-Prize-winning organization is currently helping people in over 70 countries worldwide battle Covid-19. Doctors Without Borders advises governments, sets up health centers, and provides medical assistance to those in special need. What will this money accomplish? With the proceeds from the amount Nomos contributes for every watch sold, the organization can buy 15 suits of protective clothing for its doctors and nurses, provide 5,500 people in a refugee camp with essential medications for one week, or ensure one week’s worth of clean drinking water to as many as 15,000 people. Customers, however, pay no premium for these watches - Nomos Glashütte and its retailers forfeit their margins for the benefit of Doctors Without Borders Germany. Nomos Glashütte is a craft manufacturer of fine mechanical timepieces. Their watchmakers construct and assemble in-house the movements for all of the manufactures watches and do so

primarily by hand, in Glashütte, the world-renowned city of watchmakers in Saxony, where Germany’s best watches have been made for 175 years now. The special model Ahoi date für Ärzte ohne Grenzen costs £3,780 (40 mm diameter, with date display), while Ahoi neomatik für Ärzte ohne Grenzen is priced at £3,440. This smaller version of the watch has a diameter of 36 mm and works with the neomatik caliber DUW 3001. Both models are water-resistant to a depth of 200 meters and feature a screw-down crown with crown guard. Their highly innovative movements, made in-house, are ultra-thin and self-winding, otherwise known as neomatik.

WATCHES

Anchors away for Frederique Constant and the Riva Historical Society In 1988, over 30 years ago, a young and independent family company was established in Geneva, the heart of the Swiss watch industry. Meanwhile, on Italian shores, an association was set up to celebrate La Dolce Vita by preserving the famous Riva. This legendary yacht, the first examples of which were made by hand entirely out of wood, embodied the easy-going Italian way of life from the 20s to the 60s. In 2009, the two entities came closer together, giving rise to a continued partnership, the fruit of which can be seen in the Runabout collection. This year, Frederique Constant is introducing its new Runabout RHS Chronograph Automatic model in honour of this collaboration and available in two limited series each composed of 2,888 pieces. The 2020 collaboration sees the return of a complication that hasn’t been available for some years - the chronograph. It even echoes Riva’s sporting past. From 1962, it produced certain models with a powerful motor (2 x 185 bhp) for enjoying the heady exhilaration of water sports on Lake Iseo, birthplace of the Riva.

calibre, ensuring a power reserve of 46 hours. The Swiss origins of these timepieces are revealed through the guilloché dial either anthracite grey or silvered, depending on the edition. Two luminescent hands glide over a date window at 6 o’clock and are complemented by a large central seconds hand in blued steel, recalling the colour of the great Italian lakes. This maritime hue is picked up in the topstitching on the version that comes on a black calfskin leather strap and adorns the strap on the second model, which is finished with grey topstitching. The exclusive nature of these editions, each of which is strictly limited to 2,888 pieces, is indicated on the back of each watch in two places. Firstly, by the individual number engraved on each watch, and secondly, by an original imprint representing the official Riva Historical Society flag, which features on the sapphire crystal of the watch. Through it, fans of watchmaking will be able to appreciate the FC-392 calibre in detail, ticking at 28,800 beats / hour (4 Hz), complete with a gold coloured oscillating weight.

Housed in a 42 mm steel case, the two new Runabout RHS Chronograph Automatic models share a tricompax chronograph (12 o’clock - 6 o’clock - 9 o’clock) powered by the automatic FC-392

Each watch will be presented in a special case with a miniature replica of the legendary Riva moored alongside it.

THE POWER OF INSTINCT

Tonda GT

Parmigiani Fleurier reimagines its Tonda collection to create a sportier, everyday watch. Following the successful launch of its first ever Hijri calendar wristwatch, the Tonda 1950 Tourbillon Double Rainbow and the Toric Tourbillon Slate, Parmigiani Fleurier announces the new Tonda GT. The Maison’s dress watches have long been revered among collectors for their elegance and fine craftsmanship, the result of its in-house manufacturing prowess combined with Michel Parmigiani’s master watchmaking talent and commitment to excellence. This commitment continues in this new introduction, a line designed to appeal to the modern gentleman looking for a watch he can wear on every occasion. Three distinct sporty, yet elegant designs will kick off the release of the Tonda GT in polished and satin-finished stainless steel or 18-ct rose gold, embodying Parmigiani’s years of expertise and design ethos following golden ratio parameters. The case shape is inspired by the Tonda Chronor watch, which was awarded the Chronograph Watch Prize from the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2017. Parmigiani Fleurier worked with watch designer, Dino Modolo, to reinterpret its design codes, resulting in a reimagined case with updated lugs and an integrated bracelet ergonomically designed for ultimate comfort. Its fluted bezel recalls another Parmigiani Fleurier icon- the Toric collection- and the dials are finished with traditional “clou triangulaire” guilloché. All watches are available on a polished and satinfinished bracelet or on a rubber strap with a motif that recalls the finishing on the dial. The Tondagraph GT is powered by the PF043 automatic caliber and combines two of watchmaking’s most useful complications an annual calendar and a chronograph. This

is an uncommon combination and once again Parmigiani Fleurier fills a void in the watchmaking world by presenting them together at a level of quality seldom rivaled, and yet, with an exceptional price. The dial displays a wealth of information and remains legible: it has delta-shaped hands with black luminescent coating indicating hours and minutes, a small second, two subdials for the chronograph function, and a big date aperture at 12 o’clock. To draw attention to the annual calendar function, the date and month are displayed in a vibrant orange color. This impressive watch is water resistant to 100m, has a screw-down crown, a 45hour power reserve, and is finely finished with Côtes de Genève stripes visible through the open caseback. The Tondagraph GT is limited to 200 pieces. Two additional models will accompany this new launch, the Tonda GT Black and the Tonda GT Rose Gold Blue. The beauty of the guilloché decoration shines through on these dials, which have a big date aperture at 12 o’clock and a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. They are powered by the PF044 automatic movement, which is finely finished, has a power reserve of 45 hours, and is water resistant to 100m via a screw-down crown. The 18-ct rose-gold model is particularly stunning when paired with its sporty blue rubber strap matching the dial and the Tonda GT Steel easily transforms into a sportier watch when paired with its black rubber strap. From classic to sporty, both watches allow today’s man to easily transition from a day full of activities to an elegant evening. The Tonda GT Rose Gold Blue is limited to 150 pieces, while the steel model is limited to 250 pieces.

PANERAI LUMINOR BLU MARE Evoking its glorious history and exhibiting a proud and daring character, Panerai continues in the tireless pursuit to expand and enhance its legacy with the Luminor Blu Mare 44mm, which possesses a strong, unmistakable presence. The name “Blu Mare”, or “blue sea” in English, is a clear reference to the marine heritage of Panerai. Forged and turned in AISI 316L steel, a high-performance lowcarbon metal characterized by good resistance to corrosion, the Luminor Blu Mare 44mm has a look that recalls in the clean, angular lines of the case the visual codes of the Luminor of the 1990s. Revived in the aesthetic dimension with carefully perfected mechanical components, it conforms its design codes to the latest generation of manual Luminors. The first Luminor Blu Mare in the collection to feature a blue dial, it is enhanced by satiné soleil decoration along with hour and minute hands with a rhodium finish and with a view to respecting tradition - includes a strap attached to the lugs with the Panerai Screw System. The typeface applied to the numerals at the cardinal points of the dial are a further reference to models from the end of the 20th

century. They have been etched exactly like the linear indexes and then filled with green Super-LumiNova™ enabling a sharper and more lasting legibility in low light conditions. The presence of the double arrow “OP” logo is another distinctive brand signature. The stylized representation of the Officine Panerai’s initials dates back to the 1980s and has become an icon of the brand. Consistent with Panerai’s long tradition of mechanical watchmaking, Luminor Blu Mare contains a manually wound movement, entirely designed and developed in-house by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. Extremely secure, thanks to the twin bridges supporting the regulator, the Caliber P.6000 is equipped with an Incabloc™ shockproof device and possesses a three day power reserve driven by a single barrel. Water-resistant up to 10 bar (about 100 meters), the new Luminor Blu Mare is completed by a calfskin strap in blue with beige stitching and secured with a pin buckle in brushed steel. An additional complementary blue rubber strap is also included as part of the package, along with a special screwdriver for changing the straps and removing the buckle. panerai.com

La Prairie’s White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire is the latest innovation from the luxury Swiss skincare brand. Rich yet delicate, enriched with both Golden Caviar Extract and the powerful illuminating molecule Lumidose, the light reflecting formula has been created to diminish the appearance of grey, brown, red, violet and yellow chromatic disturbances on the skin around the delicate eye area. More noticeable due to the fact skin is thinner around the eye, these pigments increase with age and absorb light, making eyes look dull and less luminous. Born from stresses such as pollution, stress, sun, micro-organisms and free radicals, the rich cream aims to reduce these pigments and restore the feeling of firmness, moisture, smoothness and elasticity. Applied using the cooling Ceramic Pearl, which has been designed to massage and de-puff the skin, it is left feeling comforted and more radiant with age spots dramatically reduced. Encased in white and silver case, reminiscent of a sleek jewel box, the innovative airless pump releases the perfect dose of product each time while also preserving the illuminating properties of Lumidose. Extraordinary. White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire, 20ml £435.00 from La Prairie. Available at Harrods, John Lewis and Selfridges.

DUBROVNIK

Thanks to its location on the Dalmatian coast, in the extreme south of Croatia, Dubrovnik enjoys beautiful Mediterranean sunshine for much of the year, making this very much a year-round destination. Renowned as one of the world’s most magnificent walled cities and fondly known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, the stunning 6th-century Old Town is truly a sight to behold. This famed city has received further interest following its use as the location of a number of scenes from the iconic Game of Thrones series, with much of the filming taking place in within this historic site. If you are a fan, there are numerous tours on offer to explore the incredible set locations used and equally if you are one of the few who haven’t subjected hours to the screen, it is a fantastic way to take in the Old Town and see some of the places you might otherwise pass by. Wander the bustling boutiques, markets and bars, before enjoying a hearty lunch of freshly caught seafood and a long walk along the iconic walls. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old Town and its towering walls rise above the central 13th-century main street and there are plenty of passageways and staircases to explore. It’s a fantastic way to avoid feeling guilty for eating all the delicious seafood as there are some long and steep staircases to tackle should you so choose. It will also help you justify indulging in one of the many superb ice cream parlours dotted throughout the Old Town. Offering every flavour under the sun, it is the perfect way to refresh and cool down after your exploration. Outside the old walls, the cable car, which rides up to Mount Srđ, offers spectacular views of Dubrovnik and beyond, with the beautiful turquoise waters stretching out as far as the eye can see. If the view isn’t quite enough to quench your thirst, then you can head back down to the Old Town Harbour and jump on a boat to enjoy the water a little closer. A regular ferry will take you across to the supposedly cursed island of Lokrum - which also features on some Game of Thrones tours which is only open during the day, but affords a worthy trip to either explore or relax. Cursed or not, the stunning scenery of rocky beaches, lush greenery and the Adriatic Sea will make the visit one to remember. You can enjoy a long walk, take pictures of the peacocks - the island’s only inhabitants explore the Benedictine monastery or even the Game of Thrones centre - it’s well worth the day trip. The origins of the Croatian language and its classic literature can be traced back to Dubrovnik, and the city remains an epicentre of culture, art, music and science. It also makes the perfect starting point for exploring the rest of Croatia’s charming beaches and idyllic islands. adriaticluxuryhotels.com | croatia.hr

PALMA MALLORCA

Palma de Mallorca Just a 15 minute drive from the airport, Palma, Mallorca’s vibrant capital offers up a hidden secret.

Located in the south of the island and a great starting point should you wish to explore further, Palma looks out over the expansive Mediterranean sea. Instantly recognisable, the enchanting Gothic Cathedral is the conveniently placed by the seafront, leading back towards Palma’s old town which is full of historic passages, unique architecture and quirky island shops and lively restaurants. The city was named after the Roman city of Palmaria, founded around 120 BC, which still exists a metre or two beneath the ground. Next to the cathedral is L’Almudaina, a 13th century palace with spectacular gardens and behind them, the old Arab quarter containing a number of small museums and narrow streets.

Tucked away in the pretty surrounds of Palma de Mallorca old town, would-be visitors to Palma have the opportunity of staying at their very own striking 18th-century Palace. Located in Palma’s vibrant La Lonja district, just a mere 100m from the bustling harbour, former private Palacio Can Marques has been lovingly renovated and transformed as a luxury boutique hotel. Opening its doors to the public for the first time in 250 years, the palace was built in 1760 and is considered to be one of the city’s most historic properties. As the singular palace in the neighbourhood, which was frequented by sailors and merchants who came from all over

As you would expect with any capital, the atmosphere is lively and fun, with many bars, restaurants, landmarks and shops to explore and discover. That said, it’s easy to get lost in the melee and we have the perfect location for some laid-back luxury right in the heart of the city.

GOLF

Club de Golf Alcanada It’s not uncommon for amateur golfers to be forced to defend their sport against those who make a wild accusation it might be dull. The non-believers will simply never experience that moment of watching your tee shot soar off into the blue skies set against a backdrop of a glorious island lighthouse. Dull? You won’t find many more satisfying experiences than that one. Welcome to Club de Golf Alcanada in the north of Mallorca - surprisingly, the only course on this fabulous island which is next to the sea. The seventh hole is the course’s signature hole, which offers the kind of postcard view you could admire for hours. It’s a downhill par-five with views all the way down to the Bay of Alcúdia and its iconic lighthouse. Group selfies are commonplace on this tee, but there is also an added bonus of a swing analysis camera, which is there to capture your tee shot. Hit a good one and enjoy it back in the clubhouse afterwards, send it on to your email to impress your friends. Scuff one a few yards and quietly dispose of your ticket when nobody is looking. But these are golfing memories to savour at Alcanada - even if your golf isn’t quite ready for the Tour. The mid-19th century lighthouse stands as proud as the club itself these days but there are plenty of breathtaking moments to enjoy. Perhaps in keeping with the owners - a certain German family by the name of Porsche, which has been known to deliver some spectacular experiences with their cars - it’s also a club with ambition. Thanks to a €700,000 revamp over the winter, all 18

greens were replaced among several other improvements. As our welcoming host - Alcanada director of golf, Kristoff Both – told us: “Very good simply wasn’t quite good enough for Alcanada”. This follows on from a host of other upgrades over the last year or so, such as a new halfway house called the Lighthouse Bar, where golfers can enjoy a mid-round break for a chilled glass of something, a light snack and to enjoy a short mid-round break. That relaxed vibe runs through the fabric at Alcanada - a club which knows its roots but has added a modern touch in all the right places - none more so than the pro shop, which carries a huge selection of modern clothing and equipment in a converted building with exposed authentic Mallorca brickwork on view. That tradition and history is epitomised in the centuries-old Mallorca clubhouse - a 19th hole brimming with style. After the round, the inviting sun terrace is the ideal spot to catch a few rays, enjoy some liquid refreshment and drink in those glorious views all over again. Around 45 minutes’ drive from Palma airport, the north of Mallorca remains relatively unspoilt in contrast to some of the mass tourism areas in other parts of the island. Of course, there is still nightlife, culture and plenty to see away from the golf course. But it is a more authentic Mallorca and well worth venturing north for some of the incredible scenery and experiences waiting to be discovered. Those who stay in the south on their visits to the island are simply missing out on so much more.

Formerly known as West Polmear with a population of 9 and a small fishing fleet that used the beach as a harbour, the Charlestown Quay project saw the construction of the pier and by the 19th Century various businesses had popped up, from shipbuilding to lime burning, and the population grew to almost 3,000. CHAMPAGNE

Harvest Time THE MAKING OF VINTAGE CHAMPAGNE As the first heralds of autumn sound their horns and September rolls around, so arrives the most important moment of the year for champagne producers: the harvest. This is the culmination of a year’s tender care of the vines and the first step towards ensuring our future supply of gorgeous golden bubbles to enjoy! From the very first day that the grapes begin to change colour, months before and usually around mid-summer, what is known as the ‘Ripening Observation Network’ swings into action in the Champagne region. Monitoring colour change, average weight and mean values for natural acidity and alcohol content of the grapes, they transmit these results across the regional governing bodies to ensure all the vignerons are in sync. These elements are determined by the amount of frost, sunshine and rain the vines have endured throughout the year, and it is these qualities that determine whether that year will produce an exceptional vintage for us to drink.

Traditionally the harvest takes place in mid-September through to October - although the start date can fluctuate. Just last year, 2018 was an extraordinary wine-growing year of bountiful sunshine and the largest rainfall since 1965, so the harvest started early on August 21st. This was one of the earliest dates since 1950, preceded only by 2011. The near-perfect quality of the grapes last year have led producers to hope for fantastic vintage - so that’s one to look out for when it appears on the shelves in about 2 years (after a minimum ageing of 3 years)! This year, the harvest is forecast to start later during mid September, although the official date has not yet been released. This will give the growers more time to source the 120,000 pickers who are annually given bed and board by the winegrowers and Champagne houses during this time - increasing the population by approximately 10%. The pickers will descend in teams of four per hectare, known as hordons in French, across all 34,300 hectares of vineyards. It is a

020 7244 1930 | info@champagne.co.uk | champagne.fr

COLUMN task done with urgency and cool efficiency, as pickers have roughly a three-week window in which to work - beyond that point the grapes will sadly be past their best. And, just to complicate matters, all Champagne grapes reach their peak of ripeness at about t h e

same time. As the British saying goes - you wait endlessly for a bus, then they all come at once… As in the 18th century, all Champagne grapes are hand-picked because the demand for whole, undamaged grape clusters is the same today. The aim is to prevent any grapes from macerating in their own juice (red skins colouring the juice) - ensuring we have the option to create clear, golden hues if so desired. There are over 1900 pressing centres in Champagne that press the grapes to a specific yield - usually 10,400 kg per hectare to manage the quantity of wine and keep it to 66 hectolitres per hectare. This is revisable upwards or downwards depending on the quality and quantity of the yield. In good years - such as 2012 - every Champagne producer is required to set aside a percentage of their wines as a precaution. This is to safeguard against disappointing future crops, or to meet exceptional levels of demand like in 2,000 when the whole world came together to celebrate the Millennium! These wines are stored in temperature-controlled tanks in the cellars, forming a reserve stock that is managed by the Comité Champagne. To be clear, houses and growers do not choose to create vintages every year. It would of course be possible, but not advisable. In years where there is an outstanding harvest, producers “declare” the vintage and make wines using only grapes from that particular year, before maturing them for a minimum of 3 years for release. As such, when Champagne vintages are released you can be sure to expect something truly special - and from the very best years, something legendary.

VANTAGE

Pocket Sized Punch Luxurious British marque Aston Martin have struggled for a number of years in an ever competitive market to make a substantial mark. Now, there's no denying that the brand has returned to its roots with a stunning collection of cars that finally deliver something a little different and the all-new Vantage offers up the epitome of this new and improved Aston Martin. Inspired by the racing arm and intent on delivering a driving experience like no other, the team had a serious job to do, but it appears to have paid off, in a big way. On first look, the design team have taken the iconic AM styling cues and thrust them firmly into today's aesthetic. The shaped

front grille synonymous with the brand has been adapted to created a vast gaping 'mouth' integrated with an equally apparent front splitter to help with the down-force which is contrasted with smooth, sleek lines running across the bonnet and beyond. Distinctive features have been introduced along the body with a sharply designed intake and beautifully shaped side window which raises towards the back to exaggerate the wide, powerful aesthetic of the rear arches. The rear end hasn't been forgotten either. A striking tail light setup follows the rear spoiler line mirroring that iconic front grille shape while the quad exhaust system and rear diffuser further illustrate this cars performance credentials.

YOUR DRIVE

And credentials it has, in buckets. Hidden under that sweeping bonnet sits the impressive 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 AMG unit from Mercedes, so there's no need to worry over reliability issues that have previously caused some concern and you certainly don't need to worry about performance problems. Set low and as far back in the chassis as possible to create a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and packing over 500hp with a whopping 685Nm of torque, you can be sure to leave the line in sufficiently swift fashion. Zero to sixty-two mph occurs in just 3.6 seconds - not the quickest in the sector, but you're not going to notice too much in real-world driving - and a top speed of 195 mph ensures that you can keep up with the pack. It's not all about speed though, and this car demonstrates that in a spectacular way. They have always been renowned for crafting beautiful cars, and this is no different, but now, the design and engineering teams have clearly worked very closely to create a car that takes both the form and function up to the next level. That front splitter and rear diffuser combination doesn't just look incredible, it serves important purpose in keeping this car on track. Delivering substantial down-force - something that is a rare occurrence on most production vehicles - the Vantage sticks to the ground like glue. Sharp, pointed and very deliberate cornering results utilising the car's incredibly low, wide platform and impressive chassis. Alongside this, the new electronic rear differential which is linked to the stability control system, continuously measures the car's behaviour and reacts accordingly giving you even more straight-line stability and cornering performance.

'Every aspect works in perfect harmony delivering a package that is hard to come by.'

ASTON MARTIN The Vantage is all about balance. From the fundamental base, the chassis, which comes in the form of the latest generation bonded aluminium structure first seen on the DB11 that has been adapted and improved to suit this car - with a total of 70 per cent new components - to the fine balance of performance and style. Every aspect works in perfect harmony delivering a package that is hard to come by. Granted, it doesn't pack the same level of performance as some of its competitors, but then, you would be hard pushed to find one that looks quite as good as this and provide such high levels of quality. One look at the interior and you could be mistaken into thinking you had just entered a concept model for a Mars explorer. Such an outlandish design would look out of place anywhere other than the interior of this car, but here, it is ideally suited to compliment that futuristic exterior aesthetic. A striking central console houses everything you need from the welcome return of Aston Martin's clean and simple gear selection and ignition button setup, to the conveniently positioned infotainment selection system with interactive touch pad and scroll wheel. An array of buttons and switchgear feature too, allowing you to easily control climate settings and heated seats - a winter

8" LCD screen rests within the plush console at a suitable viewing height for ease of use while driving. This design ethos isn't just reserved for the centre console however. Glance across to the right and your eyes set their sights on a uniquely shaped steering wheel which clearly takes a little inspiration from the motorsport world, but brings it into an equally luxurious, leather-bound setting complete with handy switchgear. As a result of the cars incredibly low stance, the driving position is always going to be equally low, but the comfortable, encompassing bucket seats are on hand to ensure you feel suitably secure whilst driving, or enjoy a ride in the passenger seat. Leather and luxuriously soft Alcantara combine to create a comfortable, high quality, inviting interior space that you would expect from any ÂŁ100k plus car while flashes of optional carbon fibre integrate

Despite being an outright two-seater, it is also functional as an everyday car thanks to the surprising 350-litre boot space. Shopping becomes a breeze and trips to the golf club don't have to be compromised. On top of that, the silky smooth 8-speed ZF transmission works to provide as efficient a ride as possible affording a combined consumption figure of 27.4 mpg, meaning you can enjoy the ride without having to constantly fill up relatively speaking. Of course, you will find yourself running at a considerable lower level when you inevitably press your right foot a little harder, but no one will judge you for that. The pleasure it brings and sound from that quad exhaust it delivers are undeniably worth it. Aston Martin have been through considerable turmoil, but this new Vantage is a clear demonstration that they are coming out the other side all the better for it. Improvements across the board have combined to create a true track oriented car for the road. Taking inspiration and knowledge from the race world and bringing it into production form, this is a car that packs a serious punch both in

1965 Austin Healey 3000 MK 3 BJ8 ÂŁPOA

Austin Healey Mk III

Rare right-hand drive example of the iconic Austin Healey 3000 from 1965

This beautiful British sports car found most of its fame across the pond with over 90 percent of all Austin-Healey 3000's manufactured in 1963 making their way over to North America. Crafted at BMC's MG works with some help in the coachwork department from Jensen Motors, the 3000 was produced from 1959 through to the end 1967 when all Austin-Healey production ceased. Ending its production life as an outright sports convertible in this Mk III guise, the Austin-Healey 3000 started out as a 2+2 open sports car variant. This example demonstrates the last iteration if this iconic car.

The car presents itself beautifully in black over burgundy coachwork with original type red square pattern with gold piping interior. The car is completed with chrome wire wheels, overdrive, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen and tonneau cover. Bought new by an Italian gentleman it was taken to Italy where it has covered just 48,000 miles from new which is believed to be correct. He owned it and it stayed in a dry climate until last year. This is an unmolested, unrestored original car which is very rare for a right hand drive example. It has recently had refurbishment of suspension, brakes and running gear and a new full set of tyres. The car drives like an unrestored car should and comes complete with UK heritage certificate. As a result, this is a very rare opportunity to purchase the most desirable model 3000 MK 3 BJ8 matching numbers Austin Healey in completely unmolested form.

Will the E14 property market face up to post-lockdown challenges? Manfacturing Construction Retail Food and hotels IT and comms Finance Technical Admin Public sector Education Health

The performance of the E14 property market in the second half of 2020 is still anyone’s guess I’m afraid. However, there are now some concrete features I can talk about. The withdrawal of lower-deposit mortgages by Nationwide says quite a lot about their expectations. The building society is clearly worried about the ability of new low equity home buyers to make their monthly mortgage payments. It’s important not to overstate the similarities between Covid and the Credit Crunch. The former is a natural disaster; the latter was about poor financial governance. However, the housing market will be shaped by both events through the prism of mortgage lending. Both will have strengthened the position of more equity-rich movers and weakened everyone else.

So how vulnerable is E14? Average earnings in the wider district are between £30,150 and £73,243, with £42,602 as the midpoint. The most common industry of employment here is financial services which accounts for 23% of workers. With jobs in retail being quite risky at the moment it doesn't look like our housing market is too exposed, but anyone fearful of losing their job probably shouldn't stretch for a new home right now. However, if your employment position is stable, it’s worth remembering a great quote from Warren Buffet; that it is wise to be “Fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful”.
