UR-100 GunMetal From time immemorial, humans have shared the universal habit of looking skywards for guidance. Instinctively we all know that wherever we are in the world, the sun, our celestial clock and point of reference, rules our daily lives. Thus, Urwerk have devoted an entire collection of watches to our spinning journey around the sun, starting with the UR-100 GunMetal, derived from Urwerk’s SpaceTime models. Urwerk takes its name from the dawn of civilization - the 6,000-yearold city of Ur in ancient Mesopotamia. It was there that the Sumerians divided the daily track of a shadow into 12 parts, creating our basic unit of time. These first crude measures have since evolved into today’s highly sophisticated chronometers, but the principle remains the same - our days are governed by our silent spinning orbit around the sun. We passengers unwittingly travel several billions of kilometres through space every year on our rotating planet at an average speed of 30 kilometres a second. It’s now a journey displayed on the dial of the UR100 GunMetal. In addition to URWERK’s trademark satellite configuration of the wandering hours and minutes, the UR-100 GunMetal brings your spin through space into sharp focus. When the minutes hand has completed its 60-minute journey, it reappears on a 20-minute scale of 555 kilometres. This is the distance you travel in 20 minutes if you are standing on the equator of our rotating planet. The opposite scale tracks your journey through space around the sun - 35,740km every 20 minutes. In the display on the UR-100 GunMetal, time and distance are on a par, the hours and minutes in vivid green, and the kilometres in bright white. urwerk.com
Under the UR-100’s dome, Urwerk’s calibre 12.01 movement drives the carousel carrying the hours on three satellites that travel in succession along a 60-minute scale. Each is forged from anodised aluminium then sanded and shot-blasted. The satellite screws are each circular sanded. The satellites rest on a carousel of sanded brass plated in ruthenium. The structure on top of the hours display is in sanded and shot-blasted aluminium and the bi-directional selfwinding rotor of the UR-100 is governed by a profiled airscrew known as the Windfänger. UR-100 GunMetal Limited Edition of just 25 pieces.

R OYA L A I R F O R C E R E D A R ROW S Breitling launches exclusive Avenger Royal Air Force Red Arrows Limited Edition Breitling and the Royal Air Force have a long history, dating as far back as the 1930’s when Breitling on-board flight chronographs featured in the cockpits of legendary RAF bombers and fighter aircraft. The collaboration with the Red Arrows has continued for over 25 years and today the pilots wear Breitling chronographs built to ensure accuracy and reliability under the most demanding physical conditions, reaching up to 7G on any given sortie. This limited edition is the latest in a line of coveted partnership releases between Breitling and the Royal Air Force, including the exclusive RAF100 Anniversary collection, and represents a unique opportunity for the public to have their own Breitling RAF Red Arrows Limited Edition timepiece. As the only luxury watch brand granted exclusive permission to feature the Red Arrows distinctive emblems, this is a collector’s piece with a generational legacy, limited to just 220 pieces. The Breitling Avenger RAF Red Arrows Limited Edition has a 45 mm stainless-steel case with a ratcheted unidirectional rotating bezel. Its striking blue dial features the famous Diamond Nine on the dial at 9 o’clock, as well as red accents reflecting the colours of the Royal Air Force. The red-tipped second-hand GMT ‘Red Arrow’, highlighting the second time zone adds another dash of colour. The hands and indexes are coated with SuperLumiNova®, a luminescent material that makes them easily readable in all lighting conditions. The caseback is engraved with the Royal Air Force Red Arrows crest alongside the unique limited-edition number of each piece. Powered by a Breitling Caliber 32, a COSC-certified chronometer movement with a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, the piece is water-resistant to 30 bars (300 meters) and is presented on an elegant brushed stainless-steel bracelet with folding clasp. Thanks to its rugged bezel and its special grip-pattern on the crown, the Avenger can be easily operated wearing gloves and offers unrivalled safety and reliability to any airborne adventurer. breitling.com
NAVITIMER RATTRAPANTE The rattrapante is one of the most sophisticated complications in all of watchmaking. Put simply, with two superimposed central chronograph hands, it can measure two elapsed times simultaneously. The rattrapante feature in the new Breitling Navitimer B03 Chronograph Rattrapante 45 is very special indeed, and there are some additional details that define this watch as an instant classic. This timepiece is as aesthetically impressive as it is technically sophisticated. Housed in a big, bold 45mm 18k red gold case, it is distinguished by a Stratos Gray dial. Its hour markers and hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova®, which guarantees legibility in all lighting conditions. The watch has a bidirectional rotating bezel with the circular slide rule that has long been associated with Breitling’s Navitimers. Normally, a Breitling Navitimer features a stylized “B” logo with an anchor symbol adorning the base of the chronograph hands. But here there is a subtle refinement, with the logo divided between two hands. The B is on the red chronograph hand, while the anchor sits on the split-second hand. As a result, the two elements of the logo are separated when the split-second hand is stopped and reform when the hands realign with each other. The split-second pusher, which is housed in the crown at 3 o’clock, serves to stop and restart the split-second hand as often as desired during a timing operation, allowing the wearer to measure split times or compare the results of several competitors. The Breitling Manufacture Caliber B03 was produced by the brand at its Chronométrie facility in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The COSC-certified chronometer, whose performance can be viewed through the watch’s transparent sapphire caseback, offers a power reserve of around 70 hours and is protected by a five-year warranty. The watch, with its striking 18k red gold case, is presented on a black alligator leather strap with a pin buckle. breitling.com

Reservoir Hydrosphere Everyone has heard about climate change and plastic pollution, but how much of what exactly it means for the planet is realised to very different degrees from person to person. The Antarctic continent, uninhabited by Man, could be and is often imagined and perceived as preserved. It is, however, the first observatory in the world of real and alarming climate change. Its high biodiversity is endangered by the loss of the fragile balance it relies on which leads to the disappearance of many animal species. During the last 5 years, the melting of the ice cap has accelerated and has become alarming. Icebergs and ice patches released
by glaciers disappear with currents and pose a major threat to biodiversity. In order to observe, identify and relay these fundamental issues, a team set out to explore this hazardous land. Three adventurers set out aboard a sailboat to share the image, the fragility of the frozen world and its fauna. A visual testimony of the behavior of local species and their mutual dependence through the eyes of photographer Greg Lecoeur, a filmmaker and an apneist. In order to have the least possible impact on the environment, the expedition took place on a legendary yacht Kotick, in a rather small space. A challenge for the protagonists and experienced members of the polar crew, witnessing changes over the last 20 years. The journey was itself driven by climatic hazards a capricious nature making access to its uninhabited land even more complex than a few years ago - the melting of ice disrupting the natural clock of seasonality creates an ever changing and unpredictable landscape. The animal encounters from the expedition are aimed at transmitting knowledge to younger generations in order to interact and open them up to the understanding of this very real place and its key role as an indicator of the health of the entire planet and the interdependence between the species. One incredibly small part of the global puzzle, Krill - which is vital to the biodiversity around the Antarctic - would cause a catastrophic snowball effect should their numbers suffer significant loss. This small crustacean

WATCHES sits at the base of the food chain, consuming algae under the frozen surface, yet it supports a plethora of species above it in the chain either directly or indirectly. Equally, the landscape itself is already causing issues for Emperor penguins who need icy surfaces to hatch their eggs and raise their young. Many glaciers have already retreated, and some ice floes have completely collapsed reducing this essential habitat. The ultimate predator of this part of the world (only the killer whale is above), the leopard seal feeds on all kinds of food - almost anything it can find in the region: from krill to baby seals with a preference for penguins. However, they are incredibly difficult to study in their hostile habitat. Documentation of penguin life during the main predation season of leopard seals highlights the correlation between the two closely related species in the food chain. International multiaward winning ocean and wildlife photographer Greg Lecoeur joined
realise his dream. A year around the world with his underwater camera. The trip took him to explore the Americas, starting with the Galapagos, then continuing on to Ecuador, Florida, Bahamas, Honduras, Yucatan, Baja California, California, Hawaii and British Columbia. Since then, recognized by many international awards, he has been living his passion to the full, traveling across the blue planet, presenting the underwater world through his eyes and his photographic style. He continues to aim to attract the attention of the general public through the capture of unexpected scenes of life, to raise awareness of the fragility of our ecosystems and the preservation of biodiversity. Clamped to his wrist on this latest adventure, Hydrosphere, a watch resembling Scuba diving pressure gauges - the first survival instruments for divers - provided support during dives. Having a unidirectional, rotating bezel with a double scale, helium valve and power indicator, Reservoir’s Hydrosphere asserts its uniqueness with a single needle on the dial. Featuring a 45mm, 316L steel case with a brushed finish, superluminova black, white or blue dial and black hour markers set in a magnifying glass on the jumping hour window, this is timepiece designed with quick and easy readability at the fore.
the expedition to photograph and document the teams findings. A native of Nice, on the French Riviera, the Mediterranean Sea seduced Greg from his childhood - developing his interest in marine biology and his desire to explore. When he wasn’t working, he was diving, growing a devouring passion for the sea. At 32 with the Diving Instructor Certificate in his pocket and developed knowledge and skill for underwater photography, he left his comfortable life, sold his company and took off to
The automatic mechanical movement boasts a 37-hour power reserve and offers a retrograde minute and jumping time set behind anti-reflective sapphire crystal. An essential unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel with double scale for reading the dive stop time before and after the return of the retrograde needle and Helium valve combine with the screw-down case back and screw-down crown to offer the ultimate diving companion with water-resistance up to 250m. Upending the aesthetics of diving watches, it possesses the mainstays of a successful dive - security, functionality, confidence in itself and its equipment. “I’m excited about becoming a brand ambassador for Reservoir watches. Our partnership was born out of our shared passion and enthusiasm in both of our respective fields - myself bringing to life the beauty and fragility of our deep blue eco-system through the lens of my camera and Reservoir’s innovative way of showing us the measurement of time beautifully with their unique dial and movement designs. I love how the Reservoir Hydrosphere resembles a scuba diving pressure gauge and find the helium valve and superluminova extremely helpful, which I use regularly for my dives.” says Lecoeur.

PROJECT COSMOS
Set to be a colossal 80m and boast a top speed of almost 30 knots, Heesen Yachts’ Project Cosmos is currently in build. She will be the shipyard’s largest yacht built to date and the fastest in her class, marking a succession of new technological firsts for the iconic Dutch shipyard - a thoroughbred racehorse and the next evolution of the Heesen breed. The brief was for speed and size, coupled with muscular sportiness and a timelessly elegant aesthetic. A combination of speed, aluminium and length required Heesen to devise new methods of bringing longitudinal strength into the design without adding extra weight to the overall structure. A world leader in large aluminium yachts, Heesen are well versed in developing new ideas and thus a brand new patent was born - ‘The Backbone’. Reminiscent of the I girder, the ‘I’ section design means it is far stronger than a flat metal bar. To deliver on the promise of speed - a desired 30 knots - the Fast Displacement Hull Form will be fitted with four MTU engines to drive two controllable pitch propellers, which are required to handle the enormous amount of power - a staggering total of 19,000hp in total. A project of such proportion requires an equally epic collaboration and thankfully renowned British studio Winch Design were on hand to pen her exteriors and Sinot for her interiors. Winch Design have created a sleek and contemporary profile, while still maintaining the style elements unique to Heesen’s DNA. Remarkable features include a breath-taking 270 square metre Sun Deck; a completely flushed foredeck that doubles as a helicopter landing area and a chic outdoor cinema; a seven-metre pool with a glass bottom and waterfall that plunges from the deck above; and a spectacular beach club with a sunken walk-around bar, that features illuminated onyx panels
and opens up to the transom and portside platforms. Award-winning Dutch studio Sinot have created an interior inspired by elements from nature, including mathematics, such as the Fibonacci sequence. Glass, natural light and optimised ceiling heights create a sense of balance and a clean aesthetic. These details are offset with the use of backlit onyx, crystal glass panels, straw marquetry, hard wood flooring, silk carpets, leather wall panelling and stainless-steel. Key interior design features include a stunning spiral staircase with stainless-steel detailing that wraps around the full glass elevator and a spacious foyer on the main deck, that combine to form a highly desirable entrance to the boat. The yacht will accommodate 12 guests in four guest suites on the lower deck, a VIP with an adjacent private studio on the bridge deck, and the striking master stateroom on the main deck forward. Nineteen crew in eleven cabins will be able to discretely service the guests.
Project Cosmos will be delivered in April 2022 | heesenyachts.com

EPILIUM & SKIN
Epilium & Skin
Vampire Face Lift + Dermapen Tucked away in London’s French Quarter, pioneering Medical Beauty Clinic Epilium & Skin promises to enhance your true beauty in the most natural way possible. Offering non-invasive treatments as well as surgical procedures, this clinic first established itself in France and has been serving clientele there for over fifteen years. Located on George Street in Marylebone, facilities include a tranquil surgical theatre for procedures and day care patients alongside stunning wall art and super slick interior design, making clients feel welcome, safe and comfortable. Industry pioneer Dr. Bernard Hayot, who is a revered antiaging specialist, has brought a wealth of experience and expertise from his three successful skin clinics in Paris and has captured the essence of his vision in Epilium & Skin in London. He maintains that a more radical approach to beauty is essential and under his medical directorship and watchful eye, Epilium & Skin brings a little ‘Je ne sais quoi’ and with their famous ‘French touch’ and modern approach, their procedures help patients look rejuvenated and fresh rather than cosmetically enhanced. The ethos of Epilium & Skin is to educate clientele on how to best restore volume lost through age, UV damage and pollution without being obvious and they offer a range of cutting edge surgical and non-surgical treatments to help restore the natural beauty of their clientele. Non-surgical treatments are very popular for all men and women who want to improve or adapt the look of their skin, body and image but an increasingly popular trend in the quest for glowing skin is the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) facial otherwise known as the ‘Vampire Face Lift’. Popular with many high-profile
then created. After applying an anaesthetic numbing cream and depending on which areas need improving, a small volume of your blood is taken from your arm which is then placed in a centrifuge for approximately six minutes. This separates the platelet-rich plasma from other denser components such as red and white blood cells. To activate the extraction of the plasma, the tube of the centrifuge is slowly tipped from top to bottom. Only the plasma which is present in the sample is extracted using a syringe or micro cannula. After about half an hour during which time the numbing cream should have taken effect, the practitioner performs the hypodermic injections into your face and neck where it gradually releases many growth factors. The depth of the injection depends on the age of your skin and deeper penetration is needed for older skin to create maximum effect. PRP boosts the production of collagen, fibroblasts and blood vessels and the proteins in the syringe are adept at cell stimulation. This is a fantastic choice for deep tissue regeneration. The reason why this works so well is the fact that the body’s first response to a cut or injury is to send platelets (found in blood cells) to the injured area. The platelets clot which in turn encourages the damaged area to regenerate. To compliment this treatment, Epilium & Skin offer PRP plus Dermapen. However, as the dermapen procedure only penetrates up to 0.5mm of the skin your practitioner might recommend another procedure using Mesotherapy instead. This is more effective for older skin as it can penetrate up to 4mm of the skin and has more of an effect on older skin that is tired, dull and
celebrities, this innovative treatment results in the complete rejuvenation of the skin tissue and there is a strong scientific case for its use. As always, there is an initial consultation to determine whether this procedure is suitable for you and a tailored treatment plan is
dehydrated. The difference between the two is that while mesotherapy injects deeper into the skin, dermapen makes little wounds on the skin surface but both therapies can be extremely effective especially if they are used with PRP.

Mesotherapy is an aesthetic medicine technique which involves injecting micro doses of nutrients such as hyaluronic acid directly into the dermis where classic creams cannot penetrate. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our body and its main function is to retain collagen and increase moisture. It attracts water and has an almost immediate hydration effect making the skin look visibly smoother. Originating from France, Mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid nutrients is a subtle non-surgical treatment which can stimulate the fibroblast cells in the skin. This produces more collagen enabling it to combat the signs of ageing and improve texture and appearance. It also reduces water loss and provides an ideal environment for healthy skin allowing it to better cope with the ageing process and is the best way to keep your skin glowing and radiant. As a further boost and to get the most out of your treatment, a hyaluronic sheet mask is applied for ten minutes followed by a sunscreen. This entire process will take a couple of hours but its definitely worth having and is certainly nowhere near as daunting as it sounds. There is some post treatment downtime where your skin may be a little red but that soon subsides and eventually your skin will start to look plump and feel tighter and much firmer. It will start to positively glow and appear smoother as well. For the best possible results, Epilium & Skin recommends to a course of three sessions over three subsequent months and then a top-up treatment every six months. As one of the few hotels in London with a river view, the stylish hotel offers guests all-suite rooms, a spa and wellness centre, indoor swimming pool, and on-site parking. created Coast-to-Coast menu features just-shucked Morecambe Bay rock oysters, juicy Lyme Bay scallops and fresh grilled fish caught by day boats on the coast, as well as unusual foraged, seasonal vegetables and quality seasonal game. Highlights from the new menu include; peppered Newbury Estate venison carpaccio with cobnuts and spiced pear; hand dived scallop ceviche; line-caught Cornish Turbot with mermaid’s kiss and seaweed butter; miso black cod; Romney Marsh lamb cutlets with Hoggs pudding and collard greens hash; and roast Whitfield Estate grouse with red cabbage and bramble dressing. The Road from Mexico to the UK and Beyond Born and nurtured through the forward thinking of all its valued employees and guided by the directors and founders of this uniquely styled company, through its experience of working in the nightclub, bars and the restaurant business for many years. variants to join the collection. In January 2020 we launched Mis Amigos Chocolate Cream and Strawberry Cream Tequila, both with a 15% ABV. We received our first shipment which amazingly sold out in the first 48 hours! Our set up for quick reaction insured that by 20th January we had new stock delivered, which allowed us to continue our
that we wish to pursue. We believe customer service and genuine interaction is the way to upsell in addition to high quality, unique products that stand out from the crowd. At the end of the day, the liquid has to be exceptional for all this to come together and it is. Our Mis Amigos Tequila range aims to educate the bars and venues we work with, so that it is moving away from the sharpness and bitter taste experience that most people associate with tequila, and moving towards mouth-watering flavours with smooth texture. People in general do not drink traditional Tequila as much as other spirits, except in either cocktails or the infamous party shot, for which there are many options now. They don’t drink as much Tequila as we would like, but they want to. It still holds that exceptional elegance and mystery plus there is nothing that draws the attention as a round of Tequilas being ordered, it just has that “je ne sais quoi” associated with it. The versatility of Tequila is undoubtedly one of its key strengths, being consumed not only as a party shot but also sipped with or without ice and used in cocktails. The variants in flavoured Tequilas is leading the way in the education of this to the general public through bartenders who enjoy the challenge of experimenting and getting away from the norm. As more consumers become aware of that, the diversity of variants, and increased quality available to them, we will continue to see this category grow year on year. Taking this into consideration we have worked for nearly 3 years to produce the Mis Amigos Tequilas Familia. Our first range which launched just a little over 7 months ago consists of Chocolate, Chocolate & Lime and Coffee Tequila all 25% ABV. So far we have received awards for all three flavours, and continuous outstanding reviews. Through the fantastic reception they are receiving sales growing in excess of 35% growth per month we pushed forward with our planned R&D on two more

Gina Duke Spirit Development Director at G&I Spirit Group said “We are overwhelmed by the response we are and have been receiving. We focus as a company on not only amazing products but on fantastic customer service. The Mis Amigos Tequila range will not stop there, we have 3 more flavours in R&D which will be launching Spring/Summer 2020; Mocha, Mocha Cream and Latte. A m p é l i Located on Charlotte Street in the heart of Fitzrovia, new Eastern Mediterranean restaurant, Ampéli is an exciting new addition to London’s ever-growing dining scene. Founded by Jenny Pagoni, and taking cues from the modern wine-focused restaurants of Athens, Ampéli serves dishes inspired by both Jenny’s native Greece and its neighbouring cultures. A key focus for the stylish restaurant is the indigenous wine list, curated by Greek Master of Wine Yiannis Karakasis, showcasing a strong focus on the innovative producers creating a stir in the country’s wine scene. Heading up the kitchen is Head Chef Oren Goldfeld, who previously worked at Nopi and Tel Aviv’s acclaimed Toto restaurant. Oren has worked closely with founder Jenny to bring her favourite Greek dishes and family recipes to the capital. Diners can start their meal with an array of hot or cold sharing plates. Highlights include Whipped feta with pistachio, Aleppo pepper; Pan-fried lamb sweetbreads with Jerusalem spice mix, almond sauce, pickles; and Salt cod croquettes, samphire and yoghurt tartar. Moving on to mains and the Whole grilled Cornish mackerel with jerusalem artichokes and vine leaves is impressive; as is the succulent Braised short ribs with date molasses, dried Moroccan peppers and quince. The desserts include poppy seed loukoumades, doughnuts with Greek mountain tea syrup. Jenny’s enthusiasm for indigenous Greek wines, combined with Yiannis’ extensive knowledge, has resulted in an exciting and varied wine list at Ampéli. The list features a wide range of Assyrtiko, a thrilling and
intense grape which has boomed in popularity over the past few years, as well as rare native Greek varieties produced in very small quantities. Perfect for those looking to expand their wine knowledge. Set across three floors, the interiors are modern and stylish with pale green walls, brass accents and a range of artworks from a rotating line-up of artists. The first exhibition is from acclaimed watercolourist, Leonie de Lange, and Greek sculptor Vasiliki Maliopoulou, who crafts her works from fossils and reclaimed materials found along the Greek coastline.

Mr. White’s English Chophouse Award winning chef Marco Pierre White teamed up with New Road Hotel to launch his first ever chophouse in Whitechapel, East London. Just a three-minute walk from Whitechapel tube station and based on the ground floor of this stylish, boutique hotel, Marco’s signature restaurant took its inspiration from the traditional Chophouses which served individual portions of meat known as ‘chops’ and were started in London in the 1960’s. Marco’s restaurant celebrates everything that chophouses are famous for and the varied menu cleverly combines English classics whilst also introducing the French flair that epitomizes Marco’s cooking style. As you would expect, the menu centres around steaks, grills and chops and there is plenty of it. Marco has also adapted the menu to suit modern day tastes. Starters include classics such as Marco’s French Onion soup with croutons and plenty of deliciously melted Emmental cheese or cocktail of Atlantic prawns with Marie Rose sauce. Steaks are sourced from the finest quality twenty-eight-day grass fed beef which include RibEye, sirloin and a daily special. Cooked to perfection, you can choose toppings such as grilled shell on king prawn or grilled woodland mushrooms with garlic butter. It all comes served with Béarnaise sauce, roasted vine tomatoes and triple cooked chips but it would be a shame not to try a side of crispy battered onion rings. If you have any room left, there is a selection of ice creams and sorbets as well as apple crumble with vanilla ice cream or farmhouse cheeses.

GERMAN POWERHAUS . Few cars still in production carry as much historical gravitas as Porsches truly iconic 911 and thankfully, the story is set to continue with the latest release of the incredible rear-engined sports car.
PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 4S
Almost 60 years in the making, it’s not especially surprising that Porsche have come to understand their customer base when it comes to the 911, and they’re not short of understanding the wider automotive community either for that matter. Performance, style, technology and of course,
porsche.co.uk
an extra dose of that instantly recognisable style previously mentioned. Bringing the ever evolving 911 design up to date, the latest release actually brings a touch of the past back into the fore with design features taking inspiration from models of yesteryear. The eighth generation of this powerhouse from the German marque adds a wider stance, more assertive aesthetic and the most technologically advanced iteration yet. Maintaining the round and upright form synonymous with the 911, the newly developed LED headlights offer a visual demonstration of how technology has advanced while a continuous LED light strip and distinctive third brake light at the rear - which is set into the vertically arranged rear louvre designed air intake - continue the dynamic and modern aesthetic theme. The latest 911’s headlights are entirely and almost seamlessly set into the front wings while the forward-extended bonnet harks back to the earlier G Series 911 from the 80’s creating a sleeker, dynamic look. Adding to the new visuals, the front intake in black perfectly integrate the latest running
YOUR DRIVE
lights which add to the cars presence during the day. It is at the rear that you will notice the most obvious visual changes on the 911. That sleek, aggressive aesthetic comes in the shape of not only bigger wheels at the rear, but extended wheel arches and a considerably wider stance creating a much lower, even sportier look. Add to this that striking air intake with its structured louvres and enlarged extending spoiler which includes its own additional brake light to replace the fixed louvre setup when raised - and you have one of the most aggressive 911 Carrera 4S’ to ever grace the road. Talking of gracing the road, this car has it all when it comes to driving pleasure. A ride that is both firm and comfortable, you will never be short of responsiveness through corners or stability on the straight whilst maintaining the everyday usability that the car has become renowned for. With its softer, more comfortable side, you can enjoy driving through towns and cities with all the added ground features - speed bumps and potholes to name a few - just as much as the open road. That is however where this car really comes to life. Boasting a new generation of their spectacular
turbocharged flat-six engine, the latest 911 packs a 3.0-litre block producing a whopping 450 PS and 530 Nm of torque which combine to offer a blistering zero to sixty-two time of just 3.6 seconds - or 3.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package - and top speed of 190 mph. Needless to say these are impressive figures in their own right, but when
porsche.co.uk
PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 4S
you consider everything else this car has to offer, you begin to understand - at least to some degree - why the 911 Carrera 4S coupé’s price tag starts at just shy of £98.5k. Combined with the silky smooth and lightning fast gear changes offered by the 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), you will enjoy unnoticeable changes at light load and immediate, unfathomably quick changes when driving a little more aggressively. This is thanks to the double-clutch, dual half-gearbox setup meaning the car is able to prepare the next required gear before you even think about making the change. The system is so efficient that you will rarely find use or necessity to utilise the paddle shift option, however, it’s always enjoyable to have a little play every now and again with your own gear selection. Performance relies solely on gears one to six offering sports ratios with top speed achieved in the latter, while two overdrive gears - seven and eight - provide improved efficiency and comfort by reducing the revolutions at low load and high speed. Also helping to adhere to continually tightening emission and efficiency regulation is a completely redesigned air intake system which features newly positioned intercoolers now sitting centrally under the tailgate grille to improve the inflow and outflow of cooling air dramatically improving efficiency. At the same time, the new piezocontrolled injectors directly inject fuel into the combustion chambers and asymmetrical
porsche.co.uk
intake camshafts improve fuel management and combustion in order to reduce consumption and emissions. All of that power and combustion has to go somewhere and thankfully, Porsche have created a suitably apparent exhaust system through which to expel it. A central rear silencer leads into two laterally positioned tailpipes uniquely designed with two pipes positioned either side of the lowered number plate mount. Available in silver or black to suit your style, the system is not only a fitting finish to the cars look, but offers a superb soundtrack for your weekend drive - or even commute should you so choose. Inside, Porsche have continued the sleek, athletic theme from the exterior. Bringing a clean aesthetic with simple, easy to use controls and switchgear along with one of the
YOUR DRIVE
most user friendly interfaces around, you can maintain full concentration on the road whilst making alterations on everything from the music your listening to and temperature of the cabin to the cars setup and safety functions. This is where the technology comes in to its own. Taking cues from the marque’s sister companies along with development of in-house technologies, Porsche have created a virtually autonomous setup. Collision and brake assist combine with adaptive cruise control and lane keeping and changing assist including traffic sign recognition and night vision to deliver one of the most responsive and safe experiences on the road. Everything you need is neatly displayed on a combination of analogue and digital displays. An analogue rev counter is the central element while to the left and right of this sit two high-resolution 7-inch displays that provide all the essential car information on virtual instruments. Next to this positioned in the centre console is the high-resolution 10.9inch touchscreen display which offers access to everything through the Porsche Communication Management system. The latest iteration of the 911 continues this cars rich history as one of the most functional luxury sports cars
around and now provides the added benefit of further improved styling and vastly improved performance, efficiency and safety. Yes, you will find yourself delving a little deeper into your bank balance should you choose to go for the range topping Carrera 4S, but with that, you will get the most advanced 911 to hit the road and can drive in the knowledge that you should be able to handle any situation on almost any road regardless of the conditions thanks to the all-wheel drive system. Lets not forget those performance figures too.

1957 Mercedes 190 SL ÂŁPOA
190 SL
Predecessor to the iconic 230 SL 'Pagoda', this two-door luxury roadster from Mercedes-Benz was produced from 1955 to 1963 and featured a 1.9-litre straight-four engine based on the incredible 300 SL's straight six variant. This car paved the way for a stream of vehicles out of the Mercedes-Benz stable with an ethos that has continued right through to the current model line. Presented in the desirable combination of red coachwork with magnolia leather interior, this spectacular example is offered with a black mohair soft top and factory hard top. It is a stunning car from every angle and is perfect for cruising the countryside in the sun, but it must be seen in the flesh to be full appreciated.
The example on offer has been meticulously taken care of with a full restoration circa 5k miles ago including all new panels with invoices to show work carried out ensuring the clean curves continue to look perfect. It has received a recent brake master cylinder and Roger Edwards have also completed a top end engine rebuild. A recent visit to marque specialists Rees Bros for a ÂŁ5k mechanical recommissioning complete the works. The car comes complete with a large service file and original green log book. There are few examples from the 26,000 produced that have been maintained and restored to this standard in right-hand drive guise for the price on offer.

SAVILLS
To Bid or Not To Bid
How Brexit framed the question for buyers at auction in 2019 with Chris Coleman-Smith, Director of National Auctions at Savills Looking back on 2019 - a year of our national property auctions
was clearer than ever. In April, for example, all the properties we
- Brexit uncertainty appeared to send buyers into one of two camps, either opting to wait for greater clarity or seeing it as an opportunity to trade. At the beginning of last year, it was clear the theme would be the importance of pricing - people simply wouldn’t bid if the price wasn’t right. To get deals over the line it was crucial that clients were on board when it came to offering properties at a suitable level. Come spring and Brexit delays brought further caution - at this point the need to have a spread of asset types and regional variety
were offering in the north sold, reflecting the fact that investors had begun to concentrate their searches in regions with good long-term prospects. Uncertainty lingered, but by early summer we began to see some buyers adopt a business as usual approach and there were signs of positive activity. While stabilising success rates around the mid-70 per cent mark were becoming the market norm, what this period in particular revealed was where, and for what, the auction appetite lay.

COLUMN
Cue the rarity factor. Where a lot was offered on the rostrum that was unlikely to present itself again, buyers were motivated and competitive bidding ensued. We sold several lots of this nature, not only to investors seeking assets with future potential but to owner occupiers too. Stand-out London sales included a well-presented four bed St John’s Wood house which went for £1.9 million and a Maida Vale mid-terrace arranged as five self-contained flats which eventually sold for £2.525m. And while school was out for summer it didn’t stop buyers from doing their homework, some deciding to go ahead while others were in the room to get a sense of what was selling and selling well. Moving into autumn, EIG highlighted that the industry sale rate remained steady and rolling quarter and yearly figures pointed to small gains against the same periods in 2018. It was around
this time that a pool of buyers began to emerge, convinced that uncertainty signalled a good time to buy. Meanwhile, price falls since the 2014 peak in prime central London coupled with the currency play saw the capital looking increasingly good value to international buyers and a number of our seven figure lots went to those who came through our global network. As the year came to a close, and the fog began to clear, an air of confidence started to return. There’s no denying the market has been tough over the last 12 months but looking ahead we anticipate confidence will grow, and more normal trading conditions will emerge particularly once we have more of an understanding of our relationship with the EU. What we do know is that, once again, success rates will also hinge on a well-curated and sensibly priced catalogue.
