DISHOOM WOOD WHARF
Reminiscent of a railway station in the 70s, Dishoom's brand new cafe is now open in Wood Wharf, Canary Wharf. Paying homage to the old Irani cafes of the past, and bringing to life the glittering-shimmering, big-business, metropolitan scene of ‘70s Bombay, Dishoom is a celebration of food and people.
With a host of small plates, grill dishes, curries and breads, there is something for everyone. Standout dishes include the IndoChinese inspired garlic, ginger, soy, chilli chicken; chilli cheese toast; house silky black dahl; chicken ruby; and mutton pepper fry ruby murray. Dishoom's famed bacon naan rolls; okra fries; and roti rolls are also all available.
Designed to share, add complementing naans, rice, and vegetable dishes - such as the refreshing Kachumba with cucumber, onion and tomato; or chilli butter corn on the cob - to really finish the meal.
Canary Wharf also offers a number of specials. From the creamy, lime infused Malai lobster, sustainably caught in British waters and fresh each morning via Billingsgate, to a spectacular martini flight - inspired by the scandalous three martini lunch in
1959 where Commander Kawas Nanavati was tried for the murder of his wife's lover in India's most infamous court case.
Alongside the martinis, the menu is packed with innovative cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic cocktails - including the rumless mojito - to a wide variety of beers and spirits.
What's more, for each and every meal you eat at Dishoom, the company donates a meal to a child. Working with two charities - Magic Breakfast in the UK and Akshaya Patra in India, who provide free meals to schools - over 15 million meals have been donated so far, ensuring children aren't distracted by hunger and instead, are ready to learn.
A clever use of space, the Canary Wharf location is perfect for residents of the Wharf as well as workers. Lively and atmospheric, Dishoom is ideal for catch ups with friends, drinks after work, and business lunches with colleagues. A much-welcomed addition to the growing foodie scene at the busy Wharf.
