Big screens will be placed at Putney Bridge on both sides of the water and at Bishop's Park behind the South Stand of Fulham football ground Craven Cottage, you'll find food stalls, family attractions and a large beer tent. The warm-up starts with the reserve crew race between Isis and Goldie held before the main event, but the build-up starts well before, from midday at the Fan Park’s in Bishop's Park and Furnivall Gardens. Maestro Blues Raymond Weil are set to present two new additions to its emblematic maestro collection at this years Baselworld watch show. The Maestro Blues play tribute to the brand’s source of creativity and historic muse, music. These two new models are inspired by the bewitching sounds of the “blues”. Equipped with a mechanical automatic winding movement housed in a 40mm case, these timepieces feature a captivating dark blue dial, endowed with a delicate wave-like decoration. The refined contemporary hands offer an elegant match for the dial’s white Roman numerals. The Maestro Blues piece finished with rose gold PVD plated case features a date aperture at 3 o’clock, while the stainless steel version is equipped with an aperture at noon, subtly revealing the heart of the watch. Both of these versions marry perfectly with the blue leather strap punctuated with white stitching. This smart new style from the Swiss brand continues the manufacture’s long standing relationship with music and brings a new tone to the line-up. raymond-weil.com

Villeret Quantième Complet GMT Blancpain’s complete calendar GMT complication established itself as a mainstay with its original debut in 2002. For Baselworld 2018, the manufacture reinterprets this practical complication and brings it back with the new Quantième Complet GMT enhanced with Blancpain’s patented under lug correctors. Blancpain’s complete calendar moonphase timepieces have been a signature of the house since the early 1980’s, but the addition of the GMT function elevates the timepiece to a high complication. Ensuring that the watch places itself as an ideal travel companion, the calendar indications are linked to the local time display shown on the principal hands. Home time is shown with a red tipped hand. The introduction of this combination of complications in the Villeret Collection brings with it innovations that were developed after the original version of the Quantième Complet GMT was launched. The in-house movement now features a silicium balance spring with its superior anti-magnetic and timing precision properties. Setting of all the calendar and moon phase indications with a finger tip, instead of the standard tool, is made possible with the exclusive under-lug correctors. Rapid adjustment of local time in one hour increments is accomplished via the crown. There are two versions of the new Quantième Complet GMT, in red gold with an opaline dial and applied red gold Roman indexes; and in stainless steel with a white dial and white gold applied Roman indexes. Both are fitted into 40 mm diameter cases with the traditional Villeret double stepped bezel with alligator straps and metal bracelets available for each.

Launched at SIHH 2018, the Freak Vision contains a host of horological game-changers: a super-light silicium balance wheel with nickel mass elements and stabilizing micro-blades and a super-thin new case design made even thinner by a box-domed crystal. Now, the aesthetic techniques showcased in the Coral Bay incarnations provide a perfect foil for this technological masterwork. The two one-of-a-kind Freak Vision timepieces have swum out of the depths of Ulysse Nardin’s unique nautical universe. Named after the famous snorkeling reef of Coral Bay in Western Australia, the two Freak Vision Coral Bay timepieces showcase an exciting new decorative bonding technique and the meticulous micropainting for which Ulysse Nardin has long been Haute Horlogerie’s acknowledged master. The Swiss Manufacture is famous for its exploration of new technologies from other domains. The best example of this is its unique use of silicium, a material adopted from the electronics industry. Freak Vision brings another electronics technique bonding - which uses thousands of 24 carat gold threads to create painstakingly delicate patterns. Computer chip manufacturers use this to convey electricity, Ulysse Nardin uses it because the fabulously intricate designs it creates delight the eye. A bonding machine squeezes gold thread on each side, one thread after another, to draw a coral reef motif on the watch

movement’s barrel spring bridge. Each thread is a different size, and all are tied only at the top and bottom of the thread, but not in its center. To create blue and yellow gold coral reef patterns, the watchmaker colors the component and the coral reefs with a chemical vapor disposition process in blue. The entire surface is colored except the departure and arrival points of the yellow gold threads, which are laser cleaned. Then the yellow gold threads are bonded to the component. The Freak Vision Coral Bay also stands out for its miniature painting technique with red and white acrylic painting on the spring barrel bridge on a CVD blue surface treatment. The master artisan uses lacquer colours that are applied and mixed directly on the dial. The dial is heated in an oven at 90 degrees between each color application enabling the colours to dry and remain firmly in place. Tiniest details are hand-coloured using extremely fine brushes under a magnifying glass. The complexity of the motif requires approximately 20 hours of painting time. True works of art, the unique, on-demand pieces have two bar tack loop stitches on their straps in matching yellow gold or coral red, and a gear train bridge and escapement bridge in matching blue or coral red. If neither of these spectacular pieces are quite to your liking, other colour possibilities could also be explored on demand.

HOROLOGICAL HYBRID The motoring industry have, for many years now, been developing and working with hybrid technologies, amalgamating the mechanical of old with the electronic of the future, now, for the first time, hybrid technology has been presented in a traditional automatic timepiece thanks to Frederique Constant. The Hybrid Manufacture FC-750 calibre is in-house developed, in-house produced and in-house assembled - of course as a result, it is also patented. The mechanical part of the FC-750 is an in-house automatic calibre with date, set by the crown at 3 o’clock and 42 hour power reserve. The electronic part of the calibre is also crafted entirely in-house by the Brand. This electronic part enables the Smart Functions of the Hybrid Manufacture watch and brings traditional watchmaking into a new era. By integrating the two technologies inside a unique calibre, the technological challenge was always going to be removing the negative magnetic effects experienced between the mechanical and the electronical parts. This is how their highly skilled designers and watchmakers develop and patent a unique anti-magnetic shield case. Connection between the watch and the Hybrid App is

“We were the first Swiss Watch Manufacturer to introduce the Horological Smart Watch in 2015. Now, we are the first to combine a Manufacture Mechanical Calibre with Smartwatch functionality.” Peter Stas, President Frederique Constant Group

frederiqueconstant.com

achieved through the pusher button located on the left side of the watch case with bluetooth technology. The Smart Functions are integrated seamlessly and are visible on the watch on the counter at 12 o’clock as well as in the Hybrid App. Inside the calibre, the Manufacture have integrated their proprietary calibre analytics functionality, an algorithm to measure rate, amplitude and beat error. Results are communicated to the Hybrid App via bluetooth and can be seen in the form of graphs over time. Once per day at 4.00am, the watch automatically analyzes oscillations to measure the health of the mechanical movement with the results being displayed in the App. If it appears that the mechanical caliber has an issue, you will be informed via both the App and the Cloud. This piece is delivered in a luxurious wooden winder box offering a removable charger for the electronical Smartwatch functionality and a winder rotating box that charges the mainspring in the mechanical calibre. However, the Hybrid Manufacture watch can be charged anywhere out of its wooden winder box by a simple USB cable.

You are given a pair of headphones to block out any outside noise and you then listen to your chosen programme which gently guides you in the meditation of your choice. During this time, you are bathed in LED coloured light which compliments your chosen track. Scientifically-tested binaural beats technology is integrated into each track and these beats use varying inaudible frequencies to help guide the mind during meditation. It is recommended that you use the Somadome before any spa treatment. On this floor you will also find two beauty rooms where you can relax and enjoy a whole range of treatments including bespoke facials and massages as well as the unique St. James’ Experience. Lasting two hours, highly trained therapists carry out a consultation beforehand to determine your needs. Using renowned Carita products, a specially selected anti-ageing facial is administered

It also does a does a full body composition analysis including body fat percentage and visceral fat levels. A DNA Fit swab analysis is also done which determines your unique genetic make-up, fitness and nutrition markers. You can then log into a secure platform where you can see your 3d image and then tailor your fitness regime to either tone up or lose weight with a personal trainer. CEO Mark is a keen golfer himself and he knows people working in London invariably don’t have the time to spare visiting an actual golf course during the working week and the idea is that they can come along and just play or practise their swing for an hour or two without disrupting their day too much. You can get lessons with a leading Tour Professional and you can even have made to measure golf clubs. The simulator room can also be booked as a screening room for that special game and comes with a licensed bar. Please visit 3sjs.club for more information.

COURCHEVEL Another Level of Luxury Ski

Located in the heart of Les 3 Vallées, the largest ski area in the world - which is set to become even bigger with the future addition of a fourth connected valley - Courchevel offers the epitome in French Alps ski holidays. Offering the best skiing around in truly exceptional surroundings, there is no place more suited for an escape to the slopes. What’s more, it doesn’t even matter your level of ability or chosen snowsport, as the resort is accessible to all. With ski schools and beginner slopes in abundance, you can make

the most of the scenery whilst learning the ropes and once you’ve mastered them, the only question is, which valley are you going to enjoy first! Courchevel 1850’s location isn’t just a fantastic spot within Les 3 Vallées, thanks to 80% of the ski area being set above 1,800 metres, you can enjoy guaranteed snow cover from the beginning of December through to the end of April! There is of course some extra help utilising optimal artifial snow production.

Despite unrivalled skiing potential and breathtaking landscape, this resorts true beauty is its year-round plethora of activities and events. Nothing comes close to the offering available in Courchevel, whether it’s art exhibitions, sporting events or even shopping, it competes with the very best. There is of course much more fun to be had during the more snow covered months and a new addition is set to cement its place in the holiday diary. An all new toboggan run has been built from the summit of the newly refurbished Ariondaz Gondola lift all the way to Courchevel Moriond’s snow front...a staggering 3 kilometres! With its “racing” themed backdrop, 8 tunnels - which make up an impressive 400 metres of the run - 450 metres of vertical descent with an average gradient of 15% and a few unusual obstacles for good measure, this ultra-fun, illuminated nighttime descent guarantees a brilliant time for all. Perfect for a change of pace if you are more of a casual skier on the slopes. It’s important to remember when you’re participating in so much activity that you might not usually have the opportunity to do, that you keep your energy levels up. Thankfully Courchevel has the answer for that too. With eight restaurants in Courchevel boasting Michelin Star status totalling a record 14 stars between them, this is the epitome of French gastronomy in one of the most unique locations in the world. First of the restaurants to earn the highest rank in the Michelin Guide of three stars is Le 1947 who achieved the coveted recognition last year, a strong indication that there is no sign of Courchevel’s restaurant scene slowing.

TRAVEL There are a number of five star hotels to choose from in Courchevel, lending themselves to the Michelin Star feast, luxury boutiques and premium spas on offer, but some come with a little extra exclusivity than others, with just a few able to offer such options for arrival and departure, so make sure you check before you jump in. It is certainly worthwhile enjoying a helicopter transfer though, if only to soak up the spectacular views. The slopes of Courchevel have plenty of scenery to enjoy, but this is on a whole other level. Adding a new dimension and an enormous sense of scale, it provides a view of the Alps that you just can’t get anywhere else.

© Patrick Pachod | courchevel.com

Named after Château Cheval Blanc’s most prestigious and sought-after vintage, Le 1947 is the perfect setting for Yannick Alléno’s culinary art. The 48-year-old is currently the only chef in France to have received the three Michelin Star award twice, the first achieved at his own restaurant in Paris. For Le 1947, he has created a distinctive, modern high-mountain cuisine available only to the few. In complete privacy, a voluntarily restrained number of guests are welcomed every evening to experience this unique gastronomic experience. One of the main draws for many to this resort is its accessibility, just over two hours by car from Geneva or Grenoble airports with regular flights during the ski season and continually maintained roads for year-round access, there really is no excuse. However, if you did decide that two hours was just too long to wait in a car, you could opt for a much quicker transfer. Thanks to the highest runway in Europe - at an altitude of 2,006 metres - and maintained to such a degree that it is kept clear of snow throughout the winter, the Altiport offers access to almost 12,000 passengers a year via light aircraft and helicopter. Slashing the transfer time from Geneva to just half an hour by helicopter, you can arrive fresh and ready for some skiing. What’s more, you could even arrange to have your ski boots and skis meet you when you arrive to hit the slopes the second you touch down to fully maximise your time.

LES GRANDES ALPES

The Perfect Partner One hotel in the resort that could be considered the very foundation of Courchevel 1850, today brings a unique luxury hotel experience to the mountains in the shape of Les Grandes Alpes Private Hotel. The hotel’s founders were visionary pioneers in the creation of the resort. Created in 1948 it was the first ever hotel in Courchevel 1850, and opened its doors simultaneously with the resorts first ever ski lift. It’s unrivalled location at the heart of the resort - where the resorts three main ski slopes arrive - meant that during it’s early year’s, the hotel was even home to the resorts post office, bank, tourist office and ski school. Seventy years on and it is a very different story indeed. Recently renovated to an incredible standard, the building now home to Les Grandes Alpes Private Hotel boasts one of the finest hotel options in Courchevel. Not only that, but this unique destination offers something unlike any other in the resort. Perfectly combining luxury chalet and five star hotel, Les Grandes Alpes delivers a service that will leave you wondering why you haven’t been before. Offering the expected comforts of a luxury hotel complete with concierge, restaurant, bar, spa and of course in-house ski shop and room - perfect for getting straight out on the slopes - you could be fooled into thinking this was simply another hotel. However, you must

not be too hasty to judge as this hotel’s secret is kept behind closed doors, nine of them to be precise. It’s true, just nine apartments are available at the hotel ensuring its exclusivity and position at the top, but what does that mean as a paying guest? This is where the chalet aspect really comes into its own. As you would expect from a chalet holiday, you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay, from luxurious living area with wood burning fire to fully stocked kitchen and opulent dining room, but that’s just the beginning. Every apartment comes complete with personal butler who will be on hand around the clock to accommodate your every need. Whether it’s an extravagant evening banquet to impress some guests, to organise some ski lessons for you, or simply to make a coffee in the morning, nothing is too big or small for the experienced staff on hand. Each of the apartments are uniquely designed by renowned French interior designer, Jean-Marc Mouchet and feature natural tones and an abundance of wood. Displaying the perfect combination of modern luxury with traditional alpine warmth throughout, each apartment is truly stunning.

TRAVEL

Away from the private apartments, the hotel’s ‘public’ spaces remain somewhat private themselves. An inconspicuous doorway with steps leading up to the main entrance maintain a substantial air of exclusivity whilst removing any desire for passers by to take a look inside. Once you do pass the threshold, you are welcomed into a reserved, understated lobby area - home to the reception and concierge desks. It is important to note at this point that as a guest checking in or out of the hotel, you will not find yourself standing around in the lobby area waiting for keys or processing information. Everything will be ready for your arrival and you will be shown directly to your room to complete any necessary details in the comfort of your new home. From the entrance hall, you will find access to the simply devine Valmont Spa, complete with heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room. Here you

can indulge in treatments to help you relax and maybe recover from a day on the slopes or just take some time to unwind. A full range of treatments are available, from customised Valmont face treatments to manicures and pedicures and a whole host of scrubs and massages for the ultimate relaxation. You will also find the stunning Bellini’s Bar area with open fire to enjoy a drink or two. Jackson +Rye

With six locations from Soho to Richmond, Jackson + Rye is a New York style brasserie inspired by classic French flavours. The City location, just a stone’s throw from Bank station is a great example of the brand with a large bar and Manhattan style, art deco dining room with banquette seating. Open from breakfast until late, Jackson + Rye recently introduced a new menu featuring an array of brasserie dishes inspired by classic French flavours with an all-American twist. Starters range from moreish Salt and Pepper Squid with crispy vermicelli noodles, house sesame and lime dressing; and Crunchy Chorizo Prawns with mango chilli mayo; to Beef Carpaccio with walnut and celery salsa; and fresh Burrata. The American influence is clear to see with well-executed dishes such as the BBQ platter, featuring brisket, smoked St Louis ribs, Peri Peri chicken wings, pickles and fries. Fish dishes are plentiful with the likes of Lemon Sole Meuniere served with capers and lemon; Seabass Fillet; and King Prawn Linguine with courgette, capers, garlic, chili and rocket. As you would expect there are also a number of steak cuts on the menu from Sirloin and Ribeye, to the newly added Bavette, Dry-Aged Bone-In Rib Steak and a succulent Veal Chop. Luckily the varied wine menu, is large enough to cater for both the lighter fish dishes and richer meat flavours. Allowing you to choose by the glass or bottle with ease from a number of countries. Ranging from 200g to a meaty 500g, all of Jackson + Rye’s beef comes from Black Angus herds and is aged for a minimum of 42 days before being chargrilled on the robata grill and brushed with herb butter. The Fillet is also an exceptional choice and like all the steaks is served with your choice of sauce. We recommend the Truffle Béarnaise along with some homemade triple cooked fries as a side. Speaking of sides, the tender stem broccoli almondine is a good choice, as well as the Truffled Mac and Cheese. Dishes are generously portioned and if you have room for dessert, decadent treats include Pecan Pie and Fine Apple Tart. However, you could always opt to finish with an equally indulgent Espresso Martini, which Jackson + Rye happen to make extremely well.

PERFECT FOR YOUR PALATE

Made In Italy The original Made In Italy site in Chelsea has just relaunched after having undergone a full renovation re-establishing itself with a brand new look and feel. After celebrating 25 years of trade, and with other sites in Notting Hill and Clapham, siblings Giuseppe, Sara and Angelo Corsaro, the family behind the concept, have returned from several months of travelling around their homeland, sourcing inspiration to better understand what makes pizza lovers tick. The result is to stay as authentic as possible delivering dishes that are true to Italy’s roots and quality. With this in mind and the everchanging dietary needs of the capital, the new menu allows customers to select from four different dough bases, each made from specific premium Italian flour. Giving off a wonderfully welcoming feel, the 100-cover restaurant has been split over two levels giving customers a distinctive taste of Italian hospitality thanks to the exposed brick arch ceiling, rustic terracotta walls and large bar located on the upper level. The cocktail menu will have you longing for warmer climes with a range of signature Spritz’s and Negroni’s. The wine menu also features a range of organic Italian wines ensuring that you will not be short of choice. To start guests should opt for a classic sharing board from the seasonal menu. The Misto board features Parma ham, pistachio mortadella, Salami, homemade burrata, homemade ricotta, and

marinated olives, served with toasted bread. Not only is this a great way to taste the freshly made burrata, which is made daily in Battersea but also the homemade creamy ricotta too. Other antipasti treats include Aubergines Parmigiana; Crispy calamari and zucchini with aioli sauce; and chips with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil. Moving on to mains and although there is a range of salads and pastas, it has to be said that the pizzas are the highlight of the new menu. The new concept menu has been created in partnership with Made in Italy’s group executive pizza chef, renowned for his expertise in natural yeast, sourdough & natural fermentation. He has crafted four dough bases consisting of: Multigrain, classic Neapolitan, stone ground semi whole wheat and gluten free; with a monthly changing special to come. Pizza highlights include La Gianluca Vialli - Tomato sauce, Mozzarella, spicy spreadable salami, spicy salami, stracciatella di burrata & fresh chilli; and Calzone al Forno - Folded pizza with ricotta cheese, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, roasted ham. There are lots of vegetarian options available as well as a number of vegan choices made with vegan mozzarella. A great choice for a hearty Italian meal right along the King’s Road.

Sophisticated Pub Grub in The City The White Swan Pub and Chophouse

Tucked away in Fetter Lane in the heart of the City lies the White Swan Pub and Dining Room. Having recently undergone a full refurbishment, its new concept is that of the traditional English chophouse. Boasting new menus based on traditionally cooked meats and offal as well as responsibly sourced fish and shellfish from the south coast, the White Swan is spread across two floors with a mezzanine floor in the middle and it offers the best in classic British cuisine in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. From the outside it does look like a normal pub and indeed, the ground floor houses a traditional pub offering traditional ales and spirits and hearty British recipes from its own menu that are quite different to the à la carte menu offered in the first floor dining room. Full of character, the comfortable and stylish dining room is like entering another world where you are away from the hustle and bustle of the busy bar area. Here, new meets old with the high ceilings and expansive bay windows blending in to the exposed brickwork, butcher’s tiles and vintage champagne racks. Having taken inspiration from the traditional Chophouses which served individual portions of meat known

as ‘chops’ and were started in London in the 1690’s, various meats are the star attraction here. Offering classic British dishes with a competitive wine list, starters include old favourites such as dressed Dorset crab with aioli and melba toast and a half pint of prawns with Marie Rose sauce. For the more adventurous, there are various forms of offal such as tripe and onions on toast or faggots with fried offal and pease pudding. Committed to serving only the finest quality meat and fish the British Isles has to offer from renowned suppliers, the menu has been adapted to suit modern day tastes and mains consist of traditional British dishes with an up to date approach. Mouth- watering sixty day Highland beef rump steak with big chips and béarnaise sauce or Suffolk chicken ‘flat iron’ with garlic and rocket have distinct flavours and won’t leave you disappointed. In keeping with the Chophouse theme, Devonshire kid goat with king cabbage and gribiche as well as dishes such as liver and bacon with mash and onion gravy are also served. Vegan options and catch of the day are always available. Desserts include a delicious dark chocolate mousse with salted caramel or you can opt for the cheese board with a selection of cheeses from Dorset, Yorkshire and Suffolk served with Peter’s Yard crispbread and fruit leather. All in all, the White Swan offers extremely good value for money and a deliciously unusual menu at a great location.

The Broadleaf Having opened its doors in November 2017 in the City of London on Old Broad Street and adjacent to Level 42, the Broadleaf bar, restaurant and sports lounge is the latest edition to family run ETM (brothers Ed and Tom Martin) Group’s growing list of pub restaurants. The impressive, outside floor to ceiling tinted windows are inspired by tropical Victorian glasshouses and the inside is spread over two floors which can hold up to two hundred people. The ground floor features a statement, art deco bar complete with six huge, copper beer tanks at the very top and in keeping with the Victorian theme, botanical cocktails as well craft beers, wines and artisanal spirits and various bar snacks are available. The interior which includes beautiful parquet flooring and natural woods as well as botanical themed walls gives the Broadleaf a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. As you enter, the open plan brasserie style restaurant area is to the right-hand side of the bar. Here, in the comfort of your own private oak booths which seat up to eight people or a more intimate table for two, guests can enjoy modern British cuisine from theatre of the open plan kitchen whilst soaking up the atmosphere of the busy bar. ETM are committed to using only the highest quality British produce from renowned suppliers and all their menus are created by expert chefs. Serving up popular starters such as salt and pepper squid with sriracha mayonnaise and roast, half shell scallops with chilli, lemon and garlic butter, you won’t be disappointed. Simple yet beautifully presented mains such as eight ounces rare breed Cumbrian Sirloin with hand cut chips, watercress and peppercorn sauce or Devon crab linguini with chilli and garlic all hit the spot and of course, there is also the delicious sticky toffee pudding with vanilla bean ice cream which is just one of the desserts on offer. With the seven large, plasma televisions upstairs in the sports lounge showing competitive, international sport throughout the day, there is something for everyone making this the perfect venue to relax and unwind and even play a spot of shuffleboard if the fancy takes you. Offering good value for money, the modern British menu will be available for lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday and will include brasserie-style dishes and bottomless brunch on Saturdays. Calabrese’s Cocktails with Gerry Calabrese

East End drinks maverick Gerry Calabrese has built a reputation as one of the greats in London’s bar scene. From bartending in top London venues such as Lab, Dust, and Sex in the City he went on in 2008 to launch his own multi award winning East End bar, The Hoxton Pony followed by most recently in 2016 Wringer and Mangle situated in the neighbouring London Fields, to much critical acclaim. His pedigree has also seen him act as a drinks columnist as well as consultant and event planner for numerous high profile private clients including Giles Deacon, Swarovski, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Channel 4, and Mulberry.

While winter is finally coming to a close, it is still fairly cold outside, so if you’re tempted to stay indoors while we wait for spring to bring us some warmth in the capital, why not use the time to invite some friends over for dinner and impress them with an old tradition - the lost art of the Aperitivo? Over on the continent it’s a common tradition to enjoy an appetiser drink before dinner to wet the palate and set the mood, but it’s been long lost on this side of the channel, most likely due to our hectic lives. There was a time when the Brits would enjoy a small, pre-meal tipple typically in the form of a port or sherry and I think there was quite a romance in formalities of your evening meal. Originally the aperitivo was a Northern Italy idea, thought to be promoted by Antonio Benedetto Carpano who believed that his special blend of fortified wine with herbs and spices would be much better suited than wine to prepare the stomach to receive food and there is a little scientific argument to support it. A little booze before a meal could kickstart the metabolism and wet the appetite. Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s easy for the Italians to maintain the aperitivo lifestyle, they have some of the worlds’ favourite appetiser liquids and they commonly choose to sup their local amaros, what do we have in the British Isles? Well you’re in luck, over the past few years, the UK has had a small boom in creating their own! We have Kamm & Sons, a beautiful aperitif made in London consisting of 45 botanicals, including ginseng, citrus peels, hibiscus

and fennel seeds. It’s got a unique, fresh taste that is light with a subtle spice, perfect for cleansing the palate. However, if you fancy something a little richer, you can’t forget about Pimm’s. The staple of summer pitchers is amazing served neat from the fridge, it offers a sweet, rich and full bodied appetiser for red meats and creamy dishes. Sipsmith’s have long produced their Summer Cup, which is much drier and herbaceous, while remaining in the fuller bodied spectrum. It’s created using their London Dry, infused with bergamot-heavy Early Grey with a crisp cucumber finish. Of course if you’re cutting down or cutting out the booze, we also have some amazing soft drinks manufacturers gracing our lovely shores who produce some brilliant mixers that also happen to work as aperitifs. Fentimans, produced in Hexam, Northumberland offer a variety of suitable softs that double as aperitifs including their traditional Dandelion & Burdock, their Rose Lemonade, a light and refreshing palate cleanser and of course their Ginger Beer, that is beautifully dry and spicy. Square Root Soda produce small batch sodas hand made in Hackney, including their brilliant bergamot soda and a traditional root beer. They also produce seasonal expressions, so you’ll have something to suit you all year round. Whatever your predilections, you will always be able to find something you’ll like. Let’s introduce a little culture back in to our lives, bring on the aperitivo!

THE LISTING Based in the heart of the Square Mile in the new Cannon Green development, Drake & Morgan’s latest venture The Listing is the perfect spot for after work drinks, catch-ups and business breakfasts alike. With similar style and flair of its sister branches, the Listing also boasts botanical-inspired interiors fusing together the industrial chic of the space with luxe natural materials like marble, leather, rich walnut, oak and antique brass together with soothing colours and plenty of natural light. The bar curves round to reveal a large dining area and impressive open kitchen. A clever use of the space, diners welcome the slightly quieter area to enjoy a meal yet don’t miss out on any of the buzzy city atmosphere. Sliding doors lead to a year-round al fresco terrace complete with planters, palm prints and botanical-inspired lighting. Great for now thanks to outdoor heaters but be sure to check it out in the summer months too when hopefully plenty of sunshine will be warming the patio. Food wise and the all-day menu is similar to that of the other Drake & Morgan restaurants with lots of small plates, large sharing boards and a nice balance of both hearty and lighter main courses. Standout dishes on the menu, which includes a variety of steaks, burgers, sandwiches and salads, include the N’duja spicy sausage flatbread with mozzarella and rocket; and the massive beer-battered haddock and chips. REVIEW You can’t go wrong with some of Drake & Morgan’s famous fries and other sides include Mac & Cheese; Onion rings; and Tenderstem Broccoli with almonds. Known for their innovative cocktails, the Ketel One Vodka Vanilla Espresso Martini and Tipsy Affogato with Vanilla ice cream, espresso, kahlua and amaretto are perfect for those too full for a dessert but still fancy an indulgent sweet. Wine fans can also try one of the new wine flights with both ‘Easy Drinking’ and ‘Discover’ selections of red and white from across the globe. Those who prefer the grain to the grape, can opt for a selection of craft beers and lagers are available on tap and by the bottle. With a fantastic atmosphere, stylish surrounds and a upbeat, friendly team, The Listing is perfect for all occasions whether work or play. Just minutes from Cannon Street Station, make sure you check it out when you’re next in the area.

The Parlour Canary Wharf Located in the Park Pavilion on Canada Square, Canary Wharf, Drake & Morgan’s The Parlour has long been a favourite among locals in the wharf. With a fantastic range of innovative cocktails, beers and wines, their large outdoor terrace is certainly one to check out in the summer months. For now though, immerse yourself back into the warm in the large indoor bar area. Slightly industrial in style with long wooden tables, banquettes and quirky lighting, you will be surprised, given how open the space, the number of nooks and crannies to position yourself in, whether for team drinks or more intimate catch-ups with friends. Towards the back, overlooking the Park Pavilion itself is the dining area where you can enjoy a meal from the all day dining menu. Slightly quieter, here you can enjoy a meal with friends after a long day washed down with a few of The Parlour’s signature cocktails. Start with the Prawn Lollipops served with sweet chili and soy before moving on to one of the many mains from the Wagyu burger with blue cheese and tomato chutney to the Chargrilled tuna salad with green papaya, cucumber, peanuts and lime dressing. Side wise you can’t go wrong with the trio of fries, comprising of Cajun spice Louisiana; honey, chilli and garlic Cowboy; and parmesan, truffle and rosemary Roman fries. There are also a number of classic upscale pub dishes such as Beerbattered haddock and chips; Madras curry; and bangers and mash. Perfect for after work; or on the weekend for a leisurely lunch or breakfast; the drinks are king here and you won’t regret trying them. Le Pont de la Tour With an enviable view over Tower Bridge and the city ahead, Le Pont de la Tour is a classic French restaurant from restaurant group D&D London serving elegant dishes with an innovative twist. Situated in Shad Thames and housed in a 19th century former tea warehouse, this stylish restaurant is a neighbourhood favourite thanks to the impressive food and elegant interiors that are reminiscent of 1930s Paris. Welcoming and friendly with a number of tables facing out toward the water, the dining room also features a leather banquette lined wall and large feature mirrors, opening up the room and offering a different perspective on the view. Light and airy in the daytime, ideal for a business lunch; the soft lighting and wonderful views allow for a completely different, more intimate atmosphere in the evening. It must be said, however, that Le Pont de la Tour doesn’t rely only on its iconic backdrop and elegant setting. The menu is varied and well executed with dish highlights including, the Cured salmon, miso mayonnaise, pickled cucumber and lemon gel starter; as well as the Ham hock terrine served with pickled baby onion, truffle mayonnaise and capers. Moving on to mains and meaty Cornish line caught cod, served with truffle mash, flavourful mushroom raviolo, roscoff onions and chive oil is an excellent choice; as is the slightly sweet and smoky Slow cooked Old Spot pork rib-eye, quince, black pudding and smoked pomme puree.

Other highlights include Gigha halibut with curry veloute and mussels; and Launceston fillet of lamb braised shoulder with black garlic emulsion also feature on the diverse menu. There are sides from buttered French beans to New potatoes, but most dishes are quite hearty and you will want to leave room for dessert. Speaking of dessert, while slightly disappointing not to see more French cheeses on the artisan cheese board; those with a sweet tooth will be pleased to try the Chocolate delice, milk chocolate ganache, caramel cremeux and passion fruit ice cream. There is also a classic Tarte Tatin served with vanilla ice cream. The wine menu has been curated by D&D London’s top sommeliers and Club Gold members and features boutique champagne house, NV Lallier’s Grand Cru, Grande Reservé, Brut, Champagne which is a great choice to start with before moving on to a wine matched to your meal.

Italian on Ice The GranLusso and GranSport trims launched on the Quattroporte have come to Ghibli and Levante for 2018 and there's plenty to shout about, not least the new Q4 all-wheel drive system available in Levante. The 'Maserati of SUVs' is instantly recognisable thanks to its imposing grille inspired by the sensational Alfieri concept. The concave grille pays homage to historical Maserati models like

the Tipo 60 Birdcage and has become a signature feature of all Maserati models since its adoption by the Levante. Its emblematic shape is accentuated by the front wings, highlighting the flow of the bonnet. Its silhouette flows along the side of the car from the sleek headlights to the characteristic Maserati rear pillar, creating a coupĂŠ look that is enhanced by frameless doors - Maserati's

MASERATI

signature look. The muscular shape of the rear haunches underscores the car’s definitively powerful Italian style. Adding to this sporty appeal, the new GranSport trim brings with it unique detailing and even sportier features including body-hugging front sport seats with 12-way power adjustment and memory function. There’s also a firmly bolstered powered sport steering wheel with multi-function buttons, brushed chrome gearshift paddles and power foot pedals with a clean aluminium sport finish. Along with the GranLusso option, the two offer important new advanced driver assistance features, a significant power boost for the Maranello-built V6 petrol engine and an innovative new power steering system. Power in the Levante S is provided by a spectacular twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine built in Maranello which delivers an impressive 430 hp and 580 Nm of torque. All of this combined with the smooth eight-speed ZF automatic transmission makes for a zero to sixty-two time of just 5.2 seconds and a top speed of over 160 mph. This is every part a sports car with the added benefit of offering a luxuriously spacious interior from which to enjoy it. This cars capabilities both on and off-road are supported by the new Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system - which comes as standard in all Levante models - based on an electronically controlled mulit-plate wet clutch linked by a driveshaft to the front axle through a transfer case. The system has been designed and developed to produce a typical Maserati rear-wheel drive experience even on low grip surfaces, acting immediately to transfer traction to the front wheels when required. In a matter of just 150 milliseconds, the torque split can alter from 0:100 to 50:50 providing instant variable control in every condition. Everything combines beautifully to deliver a comfortable and luxurious car that is as at home on ice as it is on the road. With the support of some necessary studded tires, there is plenty of fun to be had on a private ice track setup in the Italian alps, taking full advantage of the cars all-wheel drive capabilities. Not only allowing you to test the cars performance in even the toughest conditions, but providing a clear understanding of the impressive levels of safety in such an environment. maserati.com

Supporting the Q4 system, the Levante features a mechanical limited-slip differential at the rear axle - the only car in its class - as standard, guaranteeing optimal traction. As a result, the car, despite driving on ice remains incredibly responsive in both acceleration and deceleration as well as through cornering. Traction is key and there is no sign of Levante struggling in that department thanks to the numerous systems working simultaneously and in harmony to ensure maximum performance at every turn. Having the ability to put all of that power onto the ice and control it in such a dynamic manner immediately makes you aware of just how good this car is. Power on demand with the capability of stopping and turning on request makes for not only an enjoyable drive, but a reassuring one. Utilised to tackle UK roads, Levante might just leave you wanting for more of the icy conditions rather than less. In everyday driving, the systems are equally impressive and necessary to ensure maximum safety on the road. Lending itself to more advanced technological features, the car now boasts electric power steering (EPS) which has allowed the development and implementation of intelligent driver assist features. Pushing Maserati into the next phase of technologically advanced motoring, this system not only delivers responsive and adaptive steering which is able to process numerous variables and provide the most suitable action, it also allows systems such as lane assist, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control to work in symbiosis for a nearly automated experience on the road. This is not your standard SUV, and not by a long shot. If you are looking for a car that can handle some of the most extreme conditions, whilst offering sports car performance and the levels of luxury you would expect from an executive vehicle, with the added benefit of SUV volume space, then this might just be the answer. Starting from ÂŁ56,250 on the road - for the diesel variant there are plenty of reasons to take a look and try for yourself. You might not get the opportunity to take it to an ice track at your local dealership, but you will certainly have the chance to experience the cars systems working on the road and feel the impressive performance that has been perfectly balanced with luxurious comfort. Italian flare meets precision engineering in a capable car for all conditions.

AUDI RS 5 coupé

Receiving considerable redesign over the outgoing model, the new RS 5 Coupe is the first in the RS series to present Audi Sport’s new RS design idiom, but it’s not just in the aesthetic department where this car has improved. Boasting an all-new 2.9-litre TFSI biturbo, the new RS 5 delivers more power whilst improving on efficiency. Producing a staggering 450 hp thanks to the V6 biturbo design with a peak torque of 600 Nm - up 170 Nm from the previous model - which is available between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm offering immediate power through most of the rev range. A sub 4.0 second zero to sixtytwo time is the unsurprising result. You can, as with previous iterations, opt for an extended top speed of 174 mph over the restricted 155 if you so wish, but there will be very few situations you will find yourself wishing you had more than the 155 that comes as standard. The two turbochargers are positioned centrally between the cylinder banks, ingesting air flow and delivering into the combustion

chambers through a dual-branch system for immediate response. Not only does this design aid in the cars impressive performance, but dramatically improves efficiency thanks to a shortened compression stroke providing a much higher geometric compression ratio. As a result, the new RS 5 Coupe offers a 17% efficiency gain over the previous model with a surprising 197g/km CO2 and 27 mpg consumption figure. Also aiding in these improvements is a 60kg weight saving which can be visually enjoyed thanks to a carbon roof option with visible fibre structure. Transferring all of that power to the road is no easy feat, but thankfully, Audi have a rich history in motorsport for good reason. Utilising the ever improving quattro permanent all-wheel drive system paired with an impressively responsive eight-speed tiptronic transmission, the RS 5 not only has power on demand, but provides considerable traction in the process.

Cornering is again improved thanks to updates in the suspension department with updates to the five-link construction at the front axle and an introduction of the same at the rear replacing the trapezeoidal-link from the previous model. What this means for real-world driving is an improved sporty characteristic, but more importantly, improvements in the ride comfort. Something the RS models have previously suffered with, this is a big step forward for the marque. You can of course utilise the Dynamic Ride Control system if selected as an option to personalise your driving experience, offering variable stiffness and ride height, the system can alter the dynamics of the car to suit your driving style and needs. These ride and efficiency improvements stretch this cars market potential significantly. Whereas previous versions would be immediately disregarded by regular users as a result of large fuel bills and considerable discomfort during ‘normal’ driving, but with this new and very much improved car, the potential is vastly improved. Venturing ever so slightly into a realm of allround usability, this could be the ideal car for the perfect balance. Comfortable, spacious and now relatively economical, whilst offering substantial power and performance when required, could this be the perfect weekday-weekend car? A car with these characteristics finds itself in a somewhat compromising position when it comes to aesthetics. Lending itself audi.co.uk

MOTORING to a much more sporty design whilst required to remain necessarily reserved, the design team at Audi Sport have had a job on their hands in designing this car. Thankfully, the result is a balanced configuration of sharp, aggressive lines and detailing with the sleek, executive profile that the A5 model line is recognised for. Bulging rear wheel arches provide an obvious hint at the cars intentions while the rear profile remains refined and understated - with the exception of the dual oval sports exhaust nestled alongside the rear diffuser. You are of course welcome to dress your RS 5 Coupé up or down as much as you please with endless customisation options available including the obligatory carbon fibre pack which adds an extra sporty flare across numerous areas of the cars exterior. It is also important to consider the dramatic difference that your colour choice makes. Opt for a black finish and this car transforms into an inconspicuous panther on the road. Just as potent as its more in-your-face counterpart in bright red, but

a little more reserved in the need to shout about it, there's no shying away from this cars low and aggressive stance on the road however. Inside, the sleek executive finish continues with the added flare of Audi Sport RS detailing thrown in the mix. Contrast red stitching adorns the plush Nappa leather bucket seats while Alcantara provides a soft feel sports steering wheel and gear selector lever and of course, the flashes of carbon fibre continue inside to complete the sporty aesthetic. All of these are options that can be altered to suit your needs as with the exterior, so if you are looking to create an appearance of business executive inside, that is well within grasp. Just remember, when you decide to utilise the full potential of this car, a 'business executive' interior just won't cut it. audi.co.uk

The impressive Audi infotainment system continues to grow and develop, with the dual screen setup allowing the driver to enjoy full sat nav viewing on the dash or even display g-force readings if necessary, the flexibility is second to none and the interface is one of the easiest to navigate. Furthermore, the optional MMI navigation plus with MMI touch also includes Audi connect, connecting the new RS 5 Coupé to the internet via LTE. Thanks to the permanently installed SIM in the car and a flat rate data package for the connect services - which includes Europe-wide roaming - you can enjoy free roaming for three years. Passengers are able to go online with their mobile devices via the Wi-Fi hotspot option. Further high-end technologies, such as the head-up display and as many as 30 driver assistance systems enhance safety, comfort and efficiency in the new RS 5 with the relationship between systems delivering another step forward in the progression of piloted driving.

Cad Attack 1949 Custom “Cad Attack” Series 62 Convertible Cadillac

If you are looking to stand out from the crowd or simply want a crowd pleaser for the collection, there is nothing more unique than this striking 1949 Cadillac. Built by noted customiser Greg Westbury, “Cad Attack” as it is known is one of the most incredible custom Cadillacs around. It is a custom in the truest sense of the word, as nearly every facet of the automobile has been tailored, yet the car still retains its Cadillac identity. The remarkable hand-crafted body is highlighted by the simply stunning Carson-style removable cloth-covered chopped hardtop, a onepiece custom windshield, Mercedes-Benz headlamps, 1991 Cadillac tail lamps and a single blade custom grille. This coupled with the ’56 Chevy front and rear bumpers with an integrated license plate holder really set the car off. Other fine touches, including modified wheel arches, panel gap alterations, an extended hood, and shaved trim, all serve to highlight the custom coachwork. Finally, massive 18-inch and 20-inch Foose wheels that are wrapped in Z-rated BFGoodrich tires complete the exterior. The car is powered by a 454 cubic inch engine modified with a RV camshaft and Eldebrock carburetor and intake,

and is mated to an uprated 700-R4 automatic transmission. Beautiful Wilwood disc brakes are on all four corners to provide excellent stopping ability. Presented in jet black coachwork, and inside, grey cloth upholstery has been custom-fitted to the modern bucket seats, door panels, console, and headliner, while the dash and other interior metal components have been smoothed to match the streamlined exterior. This extraordinary creation reflects a labour of love that can only come from the best craftsmen. Cad Attack is the only car to have been featured on the cover of Custom Rodder magazine twice, and deservingly so.

SAVILLS

London is home to the world music scene - and its global icons with Stephen O’Kane, associate director in Savills Corporate Services It’s said there’s no business like show business and with the top 10 musicians taking $278 million in tour revenues between them in 2016, the numbers speak for themselves. London is a key destination on the international touring scene. Money generated by live music in the capital exceeded £1 billion for the first time in 2016, in part thanks to an increased number of major festivals and more global artists heading to London during their world tours. Meanwhile, in November, the MTV European Music Awards came to London for the first time in 21 years, bringing in a whole host of stars from around the globe. But the capital doesn’t only attract touring artists. Many global icons also favour London when it comes to producing their material. Abbey Road Studios is the city’s most famous, and oldest, purposebuilt recording studio, but there is now a selection of others that deliver exceptional technology, outstanding equipment and a favourable working environment. Something both recording and performing artists have in common is the need for accommodation while they’re in town. Recording can take up to four or five months and artists will often seek a place to call home rather than stay in a hotel. At the same time, rising British talent is looking to lay down roots in the capital while longestablished stars are downsizing

from their larger pads. As such, three profiles of tenants/buyers have emerged: the global superstar renter, the emerging artist firsttime buyer and the veteran musician downsizer. Making an album can result in plenty of late nights and early starts. Artists’ criteria for rental accommodation will therefore include close proximity to recording studios - the most prestigious are in north and south-west London - and a very private location. However, there is a premium to be paid for this type of property, located as they are in the most sought-after parts of the capital, with budgets soaring well into the tens of thousands per month.

The latest technology, a superior interior specification and space for members of their team or support network of visitors are also of key importance. So they can remain focused on the task in hand, recording musicians tend to want somewhere they can relax and entertain without the need to go out and socialise. Equally, they may have work commitments around the world so straightforward access to airports is often another a must-have. Emerging musicians tend to be first-time buyers and their search criteria is much the same as the global superstar renter: discretion and specification being the two main requirements. Location wise, many want to be in the centre of town, perhaps in a penthouse within a secure development or a house well hidden from prying eyes and lenses but within a community of other successful professionals. The veteran musicians, on the other hand, traditionally migrate to the capital’s green spaces, buying substantial yet very private homes in the likes of Richmond, Primrose Hill and Clapham Common. They may well have a grown-up family, not to mention numerous properties around the globe, and are now downsizing to a smaller London base. London is the headline act on the global stage, with more leading names from the music world choosing to call it home on a short or full time basis than ever before. Defining the modern working week in 2018 isn’t a straightforward process. As we embrace technology, the lines between daily commutes to work and working from remote locations become less transparent. From a property perspective, this means people with flexible working patterns can be more selective about the location of their next home. But what does this mean for E14? A ‘virtual office’ is a term that has become popular recently as more employees are given the option of working from home. By avoiding the ‘daily grind’, property searchers can relieve themselves from the burden of having to look for a home that offers them easy access to their work. Nor do they need to worry about longer commutes if it's not every day.

In E14, all the signs show that local people are working harder than ever. In fact 56.4 per cent of local workers aged 16 to 74 work between 31 and 48 hours per week. More interestingly, 22.7 per cent of the workforce actually work 49 hours or more, which means they're either working a six day week or working 8am-6pm five days per week. In summary, there is a clear indication that our approach to the working day is evolving. This is having a roll-on effect on the property market and is helping to shape people's decisions when it comes to buying and selling homes. If you have any property-related queries, mosey on down to our office, and we’d be happy to answer them. Spencer Fortag

By looking back over the last eight quarters, it's quite enlightening to see how average sales prices have changed for individual house types. Obviously the bigger types sell for more, but the quarter-on-quarter changes tell an interesting story.

The socio-economic profile is a telling measure of the constitution of people in a local market. We have to be careful when talking about the economic profile of local residents because no statistical measure will really illustrate the character of an area. However, we've used the governments 'NSSec' classification data on our area, which defines local residents in those terms.
