YOUR TRAVEL

Paying homage to the historic nature of the space, contemporary artwork adorns the walls while free-standing baths, and sumptuous beds provide the perfect setting for a fantastic night's sleep. Seven rooms are located in the main house and a further five, which feature larger bedrooms and spacious bathrooms, are located in the Coach House, all beautifully finished with a clean, modern country aesthetic. Creating that cosy pub feel, rooms are warmed by roaring fires in the colder months, and a large private garden comes to life for warmer days. And those looking to stay can enjoy their visit with four-legged friends in tow with rooms available throughout and access to the traditional pub bar, which also welcomes dogs.

The 'local' village pub which is a popular haunt for many locals and visitors from further afield flows through to a casual, lounge style setting and dining area called The Snug, where you can sink into a sofa after a long walk.

The wonderful location - between Wiltshire and Somerset in the picturesque village of Maiden Bradley in the West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - is not only reflected in the glorious surrounds of the pub, but also the menus. With a dedication to seasonality and supporting local producers, the dishes at Bradley Hare adapt according to availability from the local greengrocer, fishmonger, butcher and game dealer, ensuring the team only works with produce of the highest quality.

Working closely with the Maiden Bradley Community allotment, The Bradley Hare also grows a carefully selected mix of specialty vegetables, herbs and botanicals for use in both the kitchen and bar.

Ever changing, previous menu highlights include Pork Chop, charred hispi cabbage, anchoiade and jus; Whole grilled mackerel, fennel, candied beets, watercress and buttermilk; and Jerusalem artichoke risotto with Somerset pecorino.

Desserts are equally exciting with burnt basque cheesecake and poached rhubarb; and apple semmifreddo with shortbread.

Championing the renaissance of the zero-waste philosophy, the Bradley Hare team are working tirelessly to keep waste of any kind to an absolute minimum. Every ingredient is treated with the utmost care and attention; excess raw produce is fermented, cured or pickled, and all bones and trimmings are used to make rich stocks for soups and sauces. This philosophy has inspired the Bradley Hare Feast - a Viking-style experience that epitomises the concept of zero-waste dining. The team also prides itself on their ability to cater for specific dietary requirements and children.

While it's tempting to stay bolted up in the pub, there are so many things to do and see thanks to the close proximity to famous landmarks like Stonehenge, King Alfred's Tower, nearby Bath and tranquil woodlands. Maiden Bradley is located in one of the original clearings of the former Selwood Forest; the word ‘Bradley’ means a wide clearing of wood: Brad (broad) & ley (clearing).

The Bradley Hare is the ideal escape for those looking to enjoy a traditional British countryside retreat.
