CHOP CHOP at The Hippodrome
The latest outpost from one of London’s most renowned Chinese restaurant groups, Four Seasons, has just opened in the heart of Leicester Square. A nod to old Hong Kong, Chop Chop, the newest addition at The Hippodrome offers authentic Chinese dishes including premium dim sum, Four Seasons signature meat dishes and a range of vegan options. Chop Chop have worked very closely with the Four Seasons to ensure that their ingredients and recipes are of the highest standard.
Whilst modern in décor and approach, Chop Chop is away from the gaming floor and the food is as authentic as it gets. Four Seasons is renowned for serving some of the best Cantonese food in the country and the same care and attention that has gone into its sister restaurants, which are expanding around the world, has gone into the menu at The Hippodrome. In terms of the menu, the star of the show has got to be Four Seasons’ renowned Hong Kong style roast duck, named by The Financial Times as ‘the best in the world’ it lives up to its reputation and is exquisitely delicious. Also on the menu, reasonably priced and with generous portion sizes, guests can enjoy traditional dishes ton start such as Aromatic Crispy Duck, Salt and Pepper Squid or Hot and Sour Pork and Prawn soup which also has a vegan option. A must try is the Steamed Mixed Platter of signature dumplings and vegan dumplings with chilli oil. Mains include Crispy Pork Belly; speciality dishes such as Whole Steamed Sea Bass with ginger and spring onions in soy sauce; Steamed Garlic Tiger Prawns in shells served on a bed of glass noodles or Stewed Beef Brisket in chu hou sauce. Accompaniments such as choi sum, Chinese broccoli and morning glory are available in your choice of sauce or stir fried. As expected, a variety of noodle and rice dishes can also be enjoyed. A contemporary Chinese restaurant hidden away on the lower ground floor, this informal subterranean eatery is open from 6pm until 4am, making it ideal for those looking for anything from a quick after-work supper through to post-theatre/cinema dining or a late-night / early morning Chinese fix.
