ORBIS IN MACHINA

The new Orbis in Machina presents a dual perspective of Roger Dubuis’ iconic tourbillon craftsmanship. The astonishing creation embraces both heritage as well as modern engineering, emphasising the duality of the design, and creating a visible link between watchmaking generations. The story is told from front to back and reveals the art of tradition matched by the cuttingedge architecture of today. The name, Orbis in Machina, is a nod to the revolving nature of the tourbillon, and the circular orbit of the watch’s display. A fusion of movement and mechanical ingenuity that brings the concept to life.

Roger Dubuis has long been associated with tourbillon distinction, having developed its own line of in-house tourbillon movements over the course of more than 20 years. The manualwinding Calibre RD115 marks the Maison’s latest significant milestone and is housed inside the Orbis In Machina watch. Built from 283 components and with 29 rubies, the Calibre RD115 is a Flying Tourbillon - just like all Roger Dubuis tourbillons made since 2003. More impressive to look at, yet much more complex to build. For Mr. Roger Dubuis, the Maison’s founder, it was forever important to draw inspiration from the past and transform it into modern mechanisms. Here, that philosophy is dutifully continued with the watch’s selection bolt, which is inspired by the ancient “Ébauche” components of high horology. By doing so, it has allowed the watchmakers to place the winding and setting system at the bottom of the movement, liberating more space above for the hour hand. Innovation also comes in the use of materials: to increase resistance to magnetic fields

and keep perfect control of the weight, the lower tourbillon cage is in anti-magnetic titanium - twice lighter than stainless steel - while the upper tourbillon cage is in mirror-polished Cobalt Chrome, which is also non-magnetic and enables the weight of the tourbillon to be reduced by 16%. Finally, the power reserve is optimised to 72 hours.

Within this latest creation, the central placement of the tourbillon has given the watchmakers a unique opportunity to play with the décor - and take their aesthetics in a different and more circular direction. This is most evident in the watch’s round lines and deep volume. As opposed to the emblematic Roger Dubuis position at 7 o’clock, the flying tourbillon sits neatly at the centre, setting the stage for a beautiful concentricity. The mechanism itself has also been purified as well as compacted, thanks to a new patent-pending planetary system, not only creating more space, but firmly establishing an alternate look compared to other tourbillons of the past.

The Central Monotourbillon is indeed a rare sight within watchmaking. In creation, it poses a number of challenges, such as finding a different way to display the hands, while also redistributing the movement’s components around the tourbillon itself. Naturally, Roger Dubuis has embraced that challenge with both hands. From the front, this 45mm timepiece is therefore contemporary as well as captivating. Starting at the middle, the designers have worked outwards, delivering an aesthetic purity through contrasting concentric circles in pink gold and grey that indicate the seconds, minutes, and hours. It’s an overall

DUBUIS

reinterpretation of the skeleton style, allowing the watchmakers to play with the space and glorify the tourbillon by placing it at the centre.

The 3D discs for the minutes and hours displays are particularly prominent and are contrasted by open-worked flying hands, mounted on ball bearings, that are double-sided and sharp. This particular display required the invention of a patent-pending system, which can safely disengage the hands and allow the watch to be set with assured stability. A similar doublesided approach has been taken for the flange, which houses the hour indications on the outer perimeter. Going one step further, the Maison’s watchmakers have set all of the circles at different heights, delivering a multi-levelled décor that draws the wearer in. While revealing a glimpse of the skeletonised calibre beneath, it once again shows the high level of modern workmanship at which Roger Dubuis is able to perform.

A Caseback of Horological Excellence Roger Dubuis was one of the first watchmakers to systemise transparent casebacks on all watches within its collection. This created an unrestricted view into the Maison’s mechanical world and showcased the impeccable work that goes into every component. More to the point, it revealed the dedication to Poinçon de Genève certification, whereby the surfaces of every component within the calibre must be hand-decorated to the highest standard. In the Orbis in Machina, the sapphire crystal acts as a window to the utmost excellence of Geneva fine watchmaking. In contrast to the

front of the watch, the view through the back is based on detailed heritage, with a look that will instantly appeal to connoisseurs of high horology. Two opposing yet complementary sides that show the differentiation and duality that characterises Roger Dubuis. The artistry and hand finishing through the caseback is almost baroque in its appearance, with elaborate detailing that feels rich and exclusive. Take note of specific details, such as the sliced bridges, and the rounder lines, which are very much rooted in classic Geneva haute horologie. 19 specific finishing techniques are used, including the elegant perlage, Côte de Genève, and snailing. The ultimate reward for this dynamic skeletonised approach is the Poinçon de Genève certification, one of the most demanding signatures in fine watchmaking. Along with provenance and reliability, it sets the benchmark for quality as well as craftsmanship.

A Roger Dubuis Rarity Crafted with an 18K pink gold case and bezel and presented on a black leather strap with a quick release system, the Orbis in Machina delights with both aesthetics and performance.

This is Roger Dubuis’ first Central Tourbillon timepiece launched within the main collection - and is available in a series of only 88 editions. For collectors and connoisseurs, this immaculate timepiece is perhaps the best expression of who Roger Dubuis is today. A watchmaker who embraces the knowhow of the past - and then transforms it with modern creativity and innovation.

LUNA ROSSA EXPERIENCE

panerai.com

Panerai’s journey with the America’s Cup, a symbol of nautical excellence and innovation, marks a significant chapter in its storied history. The relationship began in 2017, when Panerai stepped into the sailing sport elite and became an Official Partner of the prestigious sailing competition and the sponsor of the Oracle Team USA and Softbank Team Japan.

Becoming the Official Sponsor of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli for the first time in 2019, it was during the 36th America’s Cup presented by Prada, held in the Hauraki Gulf of Auckland in 2021, that Panerai culminated its nautical ties with the sailing team. This partnership emerged naturally for a brand like Panerai that makes performance and technological innovation its distinctive flags. Over the six years of cherished partnership, Panerai has relentlessly developed collections of technical watches, one for each year of preparation in the run-up to the ultimate challenge, either drawing inspiration from the technologies and materials used in the America’s Cup or from the insights and needs of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team.

In the run-up to the 37th America’s Cup set in Barcelona, Panerai reaffirms its commitment as the Official Sponsor, joining forces with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team for the second consecutive edition.

“The synergy with Panerai takes us on a shared journey in pushing the limits of performance, where precision, innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence are at the heart of our endeavours,” says Max Sirena, the team’s Skipper and Director.

This collaboration intersects with all the pillars of the Panerai identity, embodying Italian DNA, the Maison’s deep-rooted connection to the marine world, and its commitment to crafting instruments for modern heroes. Watches engineered by the Maison’s Laboratorio di Idee at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel and tested for the toughest conditions, epitomizing the brand’s dedication to durability, reliability, and functionality.

The new Submersible Tourbillon GMT Luna Rossa Experience Edition Panerai, the proud partner of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team, dedicates one of the highest expressions of watchmaking expertise, the Tourbillon, to pay homage to the team in their quest for the America’s Cup.

Limited to just 20 pieces, the Submersible Tourbillon GMT Luna Rossa Experience Edition is set to debut in July 2024 in the lead-up to the America’s Cup finals. To immerse its clients in the thrilling world of sailing, owners of the watch will be invited to partake in a breathtaking experience curated by the Maison during the finals of the America’s Cup in Barcelona. This exclusive opportunity includes a behind-the-scenes view of the competition, offering unmatched access and engagement with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team, allowing clients to experience the excitement and strategy of this prestigious event up close, embracing spontaneity and genuine moments.

The PAM01405 Experience Edition is the first Submersible in 45mm to feature the tourbillon complication and also the first of its kind to marry the complexity of a tourbillon with the futuristic appeal of Carbotech™, a composite material based on carbon fibre. Indeed, the watch’s case in Carbotech™ purposely echoes

one of the materials most represented into the composition of Luna Rossa’s boat hull, made almost entirely of carbon fibre.

The manufacturing process of Carbotech™ involves compressing carbon fibre sheets at a precise temperature and high pressure along with PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), a superior polymer that binds the composite, enhancing its strength and longevity. The resultant Carbotech™ plates boast superior mechanical properties and performance in terms of strength-to-weight ratio enabling very comfortable ergonomics while being resistant to tough wear conditions. Notably lighter than titanium and ceramic, Carbotech™ excels in resistance to external forces and corrosion. Its uneven, matt black surface, which varies according to the cutting of the material, lends every singular watch a slightly different appearance.

Scaling down from previous Submersible Tourbillons, yet maximizing wearability without compromising its impressive presence, at its core, the hand-wound P.2015/T mechanical caliber results from three years of dedicated development, with the assembly of the movement and tourbillon cage demanding eight painstaking hours of craftsmanship.

The patented tourbillon completes a horizontal rotation every 30 seconds and is a standout feature of this remarkable timepiece. It rotates on the perpendicular to the balance wheel and thus compensates for the effects of gravity on the accuracy of the timepiece. The mechanism undergoes a rigorous testing phase to guarantee optimal power reserve and chronometry, meeting Panerai’s stringent quality standards. With a 4-day power reserve, whose indicator is strategically placed on the reverse side for subtle visibility, a 24-hour GMT function and a night and day indication, this new Submersible caters to the needs of the modern traveller. The watch boasts a water-resistance up to 30 bar (~300 meters), an impressive measure for a high-complication movement. Its design intricately incorporates elements inspired by Luna Rossa, including the shape of the GMT hands that resembles the Luna Rossa sail.

PAM01405’s bezel is made of titanium, finished with a black DLC coating and adorned with white lacquer indexes. To match, an open-worked display allows a glimpse into the watch’s mechanical construction, while the red and white accents on the hands and hour markers not only facilitate legibility but also complement the distinctive Luna Rossa palette. The SuperLumiNova® coating on the flange magnifies the spectacular nature of the design in darkness and serves as an aesthetic nod to Panerai’s deep connection with the field of luminescence. Hour, minutes and bezel comes with blue and green Super-LumiNova® to facilitate reading diving time or simply legibility in poor lighting conditions.

Accompanying the watch are two straps: the first, a Luna Rossa bi-material strap that combines the resilience rubber with the aesthetics of textile, features a sporty design with a striking red accent as a nod to the partnership with the esteemed sailing team. The second rubber strap, in monochrome black, speaks to those who prefer a sleek, understated look to complement the watch’s Carbotech™ case and skeletonised movement.

Prowess 1

Throughout the course of watchmaking history, breakthroughs have been made to solve specific problems. For example, the tourbillon was invented to counter the effects of gravity on precision when a pocket timepiece stays in one position (on a table, in a pocket, etc.). Once world travel became increasingly popular, dual time and world time watches were developed so travellers could know what time it was in different parts of the world.

Now, with the Récital 28 “Prowess 1,” Bovet addresses a uniquely modern timekeeping issue, and solves it in an innovative and elegant way.

The Problem: Ever since Daylight Saving Time (DST) was introduced, world time watches have not been able to adapt to

the vagaries of when DST starts and ends in different countries and which countries do not change (only around 70 countries use some form of DST).

The Solution: The Récital 28 Prowess 1 from Bovet, thanks to an ingenious roller system, can be adjusted to any one of the 24 times zones in: UTC – Coordinated Universal Time; ASTAmerican Summer Time; EAS - Europe and America Summer Time; and EWT - European Winter Time.

In addition to this remarkable way of managing time zone differentiation around the world, this timepiece also features an expanded flying tourbillon, a perpetual calendar with indications using rollers and a disk, and 10 days of power reserve from a single barrel.

bovet.com BOVET

There is no other timepiece in the world that does all of this mechanically, and every component is hand-finished and the bridges of the movement are all hand-decorated and handengraved.

Mankind has been trying to master timekeeping since the beginning of time, starting with sundials, water clocks, incense clocks, and more. Flash forward to the 1800s, when Bovet was first founded. Then, the world was in chaos regarding timekeeping. Cities, towns, and villages all operated on “local solar time,” independent of any other city. Noon on the clock was when the sun hit its zenith wherever you were - but that moment changed with your longitude. So, when it was noon in New York, City, it was 12:12pm in Boston, Massachusetts; 11:30am in Cleveland, Ohio; and 11:14am in Indianapolis, Indiana. In a metropolis like New York, local time could vary as much as a minute or more between the east and the west sides of the city. Sun time even differed by about 30 seconds between the two ends of the San Francisco-Oakland Bridge.

As you can imagine, as travel sped up thanks to the railroads, matching up the times of the trains was a logistical nightmare.

Thanks to the railroads, standard time was introduced and used throughout the railway system, and in 1884, the system of 24 time zones was adopted and used throughout the world, based on the Prime Meridian in Greenwich, UK.

The US government officially adopted standard time on March 19, 1918, though it had been used throughout the country for many years. Within a decade, most of the world was keeping time by this system. In 1972, the majority of the world adopted Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and now official time zones are indicated by +/- UTC, rather than by GMT.

DST was first introduced during World War I, then was reinstituted again during World War II, in order to save energy and have more daylight. Countries around the world variously adopted or ignored DST - countries nearer to the equator, for example, do not use DST, as the sunrise and sunset times don’t vary very much at all.

Today, things are no better. Countries like China, the UAE, and India do not use DST. Even in the USA, Hawaii and Arizona do not use DST, though the Navajo Nation in Arizona does. In addition, DST and the dates of the time change vary, which makes it difficult to determine what time it is anywhere in the world during a few weeks of the year.

There has recently been much talk about doing away with the time change altogether, either adopting standard time or DST for the whole year, though it will again come down to the decisions of individual countries.

Dating from the acquisition of Bovet in 2001, owner Mr. Raffy has always had his thoughts on the heavens and how to

best interpret the various ways of telling time. In the past, he has included celestial sky charts, Equation of Time, Sidereal Time, and Summer and Winter equinoxes, just to name a few.

Now, with the Récital 28 Prowess 1, Mr. Raffy and his team have taken terrestrial time further than ever before.

“When the Récital 26 Brainstorm Chapter Two was in development, I said to myself that one of the key things that I would love to have on my wrist is an exceptional universal time timepiece that could be adjusted for the vagaries of world time,” Mr. Raffy explains. “Every year between summer time and winter time, there are weeks that don’t match up, and countries

BOVET

that only use one time all year round. In the Récital 28 Prowess 1, the 24 time zones are on rollers at six pm and the sun (the tourbillon) is at 12. With a push of the crown, you can adjust to the four different times. It is an absolute Prowess 1 and thanks go to my team for the five years of hard work that went into this exceptional timepiece.

“In June 2022 everything was ready to go into production and I stopped the project because I did not yet have the idea to rotate the cylinders,” he continues. “The concept then was to have a world time system like the one on the Orbis Mundi, but at Bovet we always need to push watchmaking forward. We all

bovet.com
16

thought the work was done, but I challenged my amazing team of engineers and watchmakers and they rose to the occasion -- the result is truly a mechanical masterpiece.”

The entire development process for the Récital 28 Prowess 1 took more than five years, with the research and development starting while Bovet was in the middle of the complicated and time-consuming Rolls-Royce Boat Tail project.

The 24 rollers each have four positions, all controlled through the crown - UTC, AST, EAS, and EWT. Pushing the crown rotates each individual cylinder 90 degrees, so every time zone can be individually set. The date roller is based on a design by Leonardo da Vinci. This was chosen because the technical department needed a solution where the gearing wasn’t too tight. With this system, once the roller gets into position in its aperture, it is held in place by its spring, and the roller is freed from the gearing.

The movement powering the Récital 28 Prowess 1 is brand new, using Bovet’s patented double-sided flying tourbillon as a base. The tourbillon has been expanded - the escapement is completely on one side of the centre fixation point, with the cage carrying the balance wheel and Bovet’s in-house balance spring on the other side, making it even more transparent and mesmerising than before. The redesigned cage is the lightest Bovet has ever used, as well (62 components, with 39 being completely new), with a total weight of 0.35 grams). The Récital 28 Prowess 1 is housed in a brand-new size for Bovet’s trademarked Writing Desk case (46.30mm) to allow the tourbillon, which is in the 12 o’clock position, enough space at the widest part of the case.

The date, leap year indication, and the month are on rollers, so when they get to the last day and month respectively, the date

rolls back like a slot machine, with a special dampening system to stop it gently, while the other two roll forward. One more reason to stay up until midnight at the end of the month and especially at the end of the year to watch all the rollers move. On the back of the timepiece, Bovet has revealed the inner workings of the perpetual calendar mechanism for the first time ever, and it is a visual treat indeed.

Each of the 744 components are hand-finished, the plate is decorated with perlage and Cotes de Geneve, and the bridges are hand-engraved as well. Of particular attention is the bevelling of the major structures of the movement - the method used is called angle rentrant. A corner is rentrant when two chamfers meet on the inside. The intersection must be clean, with a single line formed at the meeting point. This type of corner is the most difficult to produce, and the sharper the point, the more difficult it is. It requires expert hands - at present, there is no machine capable of producing it.

The timepiece is in very limited production, Bovet can only handcraft a total of eight timepieces per year, as each movement takes weeks to assemble. The Récital 28 Prowess 1 comes in 18K Red Gold, 950 Platinum, and Polished Grade 5 Titanium.

“With the Récital 20 Astérium, the Récital 22 Grand Récital, and the Récital 26 Chapter Two, we focused on combining the heavens and the Earth,” Mr. Raffy details. “With the Récital 28 Prowess 1, we are solving the terrestrial time problem with a world timer that can be adjusted for all the variations in timekeeping around the world. With this timepiece, you will never be at a loss for what time it is anywhere in the world.”

Acqua di Parma MANDARINO

Home to splendid trees and exquisite fruits, the sundrenched land of Sicily provides the latest inspiration for luxury fragrance brand Acqua di Parma's new collection.

While well-known around the world for landmarks like The Valley of Temples and Mount Etna, Sicily boasts a fascinating history along with excellent gastronomy, sandy beaches and delicious wine. Originally dominated by the Greeks, the island was passed on to the Romans and then the European powers during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The blend of cultures has influenced every aspect of modern life in this stunning Southern Italian region and continues to amaze and delight as time goes on.

Harnessing the rich history of Castelvetranowhich boasts records dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries - these new fragrances envelop you in a fresh Italian cloak of exquisite citrus scent. Much like a fine wine or the abundance of flavourful olives which grow in the region, these fragrances reap the benefits of Sicily's topography.

Nestled away, deep in the ground, the sandy soil of Castelvetrano is richly endowed with lush underground water sources that harness the powers of the unique microclimate to provide the lush Sicilian fields with wonderful harvests of vibrant mandarins and citrus fruits.

The bountiful fields and sublime views are fondly referred to as Giardini mirroring the beauty and preciousness of private villa gardens, and the resulting fruits express distinctive

olfactory nuances, embodying the singularity of this unparalleled terroir.

In an ode to this unique land, Acqua di Parma proudly presents two new Blu Mediterraneo fragrances made exceptional through the selection of early harvest fruits as its star ingredient. Therapie Clinics

With over 70 trusted clinics nationwide and more than 10 million treatments completed, Therapie Clinic has been one of Europe's leading medical aesthetic clinics for over 20 years.

Usually when you search for top-class treatments you are directed straight to clinics in the capital, but why not head local and enjoy the latest treatments in your area.

With over an expert team that includes more than 200 Doctors, Therapie Clinic's portfolio offers a range of cosmetic injections, medical grade laser hair removal, body sculpting and toning treatments, along with the most advanced skin treatments.

From Hydrafacials to Potenza - the latest microneedling treatment that delivers dual-actioned approach to skin rejuvenation, Therapie is ahead of the curve and is always adding to their treatment catalogue. Most treatments are quick and pain free with no downtime so can even be done in your lunch break.

Anti-wrinkle injections (Botox) have long been used for tackling frown lines and crows feet, but they can be used for a number of different concerns. Therapie Clinic's Head of Injectables - Nurse Nicky explains there can be many different uses to combat a variety of issues from excessive sweating to migraines.

Hyperhidrosis is a popular choice for patients that want to reduce their sweating. It is especially popular for brides to be or people that do public speaking within their job. The treatment works by blocking nerve signals to the sweat glands to produce sweat. The treatment can be done within a 30-minute appointment and results will be seen at the 2-week mark. Numbing cream will be applied to the area beforehand to make the treatment more comfortable. Treatment intervals vary from patient to patient however expect the results to last around 4-

5 months. Hyperhidrosis can be used on the Underarm area, hands and feet. The only downfall is that our bodies still need to sweat therefore the sweat will come out of more areas. Usually, the sweat is evenly distributed throughout the body however in small cases you may find you suddenly start sweating from another area.

Traptox in recent years has become ever more popular and more recently from the Barbie movie. This is because by reducing the Trapezium muscles elongates the neck creating a slimmer more feminine look. Which created the name ‘BarbieTox’. However, this treatment has been used for decades to reduce tension and spasms in the area. When the muscles are very strong it can create chronic pain that is very difficult to live with or can travel up the neck and create migraines. By injecting Toxin into the Trapezium muscles relaxing the muscle and the chronic pain and migraines reduces significantly. Depending on how bulky these muscles are you can expect one treatment to last from 3-6 months. Having regular treatments will ensure the muscle does not build back up and therefore the treatment will last longer.

Masseter toxin is one of the most popular areas requested by patients. The main reason being is by relaxing the masseter muscle creates a V-Shaped face with the top of the face being wider and going down to a point. This is a sign of youth and beauty, with most women today wanting to fight the signs of ageing is an easy win. As well as the aesthetic benefits using Toxin in the masseter muscle also significantly reduces teeth grinding and clenching. Teeth grinding is a chronic problem that if left untreated not only grinds away your teeth enamel and tooth but can also cause severe neck pain, migraines and discomfort. The procedure can be done in a 30-minute appointment and is almost pain free.

Wonderfully fresh and perfect for the upcoming season, Escentric 02 contains 13.5% Ambroxan in a formula designed to amplify its mineral note with hedione (green jasmine bud), a 'gin and tonic' accord, "and a hint of the Austrian lemonade called Almdudler".

Ambroxan is a crystal-chemical structure identical to the ambrox derived from ambergris. For centuries, ambergris was perhaps the most prized ingredient in perfumery. It is a somewhat mysterious substance expelled by the cachalot or sperm whale, which only attains its fine scent after a long maturation floating in the ocean.

*13.5% is the maximum percentage of Ambroxan that can be dissolved in a fragrance compound. Any more, and the Ambroxan begins to crystallise out of the solution.

PATISSERIE PAIRINGS

What could be a more enticing combination than Champagne and baked goods. Champagne has long been the drink of choice for afternoon tea as well as alongside a slice of celebratory cake for birthdays and weddings. May 17, 2024, marks World Baking Day and as such, The Champagne Bureau UK highlights the perfect Champagne styles to pair with your favourite patisserie, cakes and bakes.

Berry Éclair and Champagne Demi-Sec

Smooth and delicate with a sugar content between 32 and 50 grams of sugar per litre, Champagne Demi-Secs are round and indulgent. These wines provide fruity notes that are sweeter on the palate and work particularly well with desserts. One such indulgent dessert is a berry éclair – choux pastry filled with cream and topped with berry icing – the sweetness of this treat is perfectly complimented by the Champagne Demi-Secs sweetness.

To find out more about Champagne visit champagne.fr or enrol at champagne-mooc.com CHAMPAGNE
WORLD BAKING DAY 17 MAY

Madeleines and Champagne Non-Vintage Brut

Simple yet effective, both the Champagne non-vintage Brut and Madeleine are essential classics that go with everything but, are by no means an unsophisticated choice. Brut Champagnes are those that contain less than 12 grams of sugar per litre. As they are blended wines, this style has an endless array of aromas and flavours, and each grape variety brings its own touch. We would suggest pairing your madeleines with a Chardonnay based Champagne Brut, to allow the sweetness of the madeleines to come through.

Apricot Cruffin and Champagne Blanc de Noirs

A cruffin is a hybrid of a croissant and a muffin and is becoming an increasingly popular option in bakeries and patisseries around the world. An apricot cruffin in particular would be an excellent companion for a Champagne Blanc de Noirs – a Champagne with punch and body in abundance. Made up of black grape varieties (Pinot Noir or Meunier), these wines have more body than wines that include white grapes in their blend. They produce notes of white and yellow fruits such as peaches, apricots and plums as well

as red fruits such as strawberries and cherries. It is these white and yellow fruit notes that beautifully complement the apricot cruffin.

Strawberry Tart and Champagne Rosé

Champagne Rosé is most often obtained by blending white and red grapes. This gives it a flamboyant joyfulness and aromas around notes of freshness (citrus fruits and wild strawberries) or complex wild berry fruit notes. A strawberry tart boasts similar flavours, and the sweetness of this dessert will only be enhanced by Champagne Rosé’s structure.

Salmon Choux and Champagne Blanc de Blancs

Celebrating World Baking Day doesn’t just mean enjoying sweet treats; savoury creations pair equally as well with Champagne. Champagne Blanc de Blancs is always an excellent choice when it comes to pairing with salmon because they are light and tantalise the taste buds without “overloading” them - allowing for the subtle flavours of the salmon to shine. We would opt for a salmon filled choux bun with dill and creme fraiche to pair with the citrus acidity and light mellowness of the Champagne Blanc de Blancs.

There has been a single leitmotif that has been thrilling Prancing Horse enthusiasts since 1947: the naturally-aspirated, mid-front-mounted V12, the very first Ferrari engine to roar its way through the factory gates in Maranello. The natural evolution of the company’s uncompromising powertrain philosophy, which over the decades has continued to develop without ever straying from its original DNA and the marque’s core values has now been unveiled. Introducing the Ferrari 12Cilindri.

This car is inspired by the legendary Grand Tourers of the 1950s and ‘60s, embodying the front-mounted Ferrari V12 two-seater mission with its effortless combination of elegance, versatility, and performance. It represents the latest evolution in this bloodline and continues that unique legacy, elevating it towards new standards in performance, comfort, and design and could possibly be the last of its kind.

Its silhouette exudes sportiness and class: simple yet harmonious lines feature an integrated active aerodynamic device to guarantee peerless performance, a front-hinged bonnet that exalts the view of the engine bay, and the two twin tailpipes that have become a signature of Ferrari’s 12-cylinder cars.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri’s engine is the latest development of the iconic V12 that laid the foundations for the Maranello legend, in this version unleashing 830

PS and with maximum revs rising to a heady 9,500 rpm. The impressive power curve ensures 80% of total torque is already available at just 2,500 rpm, resulting in instantaneous pick-up for maximum accelerator response and a feeling of never-ending power all the way to the red line.

A striking cockpit guarantees superb comfort for both driver and passenger, even on long journeys. Its feeling of airiness and space is heightened further still by a glass roof, prestigious materials and a central display in addition to one for the driver and a third ahead of the passenger.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri is aimed at driving enthusiasts, but also at those who demand new standards of performance, comfort and design. Longstanding Ferraristi, loyal to the unique emotions that only the Ferrari V12 can deliver, as well as new clients dreaming of combining comfort and Italian design with exhilarating driving pleasure will welcome this car with open arms to their garage. Designed for connoisseurs with a very clear vision of what Ferrari’s DNA has always been, truly making it a car for the few.

An icon in its own right, the V12 engine needs little introduction. The F140HD engine equipping the Ferrari 12Cilindri is the new version of the iconic naturallyaspirated Ferrari V12, the purest expression of Ferrari’s soul. Its peerless performance, powerful soundtrack

A crescendo of never-ending acceleration and power delivery has been a signature of all Ferrari V12s. The introduction of new gear ratios furthermore keeps acceleration levels high and allowed the engineers to define a new torque curve shape for an aspirated engine.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri sports the 8-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) that received such an unanimously rapturous welcome on other cars in the range, starting with the SF90 Stradale. Thanks in part to larger tyres on 21” rims, this solution delivers 5% shorter gear ratios in the lower gears and a 12% increase in torque at the wheels compared to previous V12 applications, all to the benefit of longitudinal performance under acceleration and gear shifting times (30% faster than the previous V12 berlinetta applications).

With the Ferrari 12Cilindri, Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari

Styling Centre design team set out to radically transform the stylistic codes of Ferrari’s previous mid-front-engined V12s. The car in fact marks a clear departure from the sculptural language that characterised the 812 Competizione, for example, instead favouring a more sophisticated language that still retains the necessary formal design rigour to achieve a sense of stylistic unity. Clean lines dominate the car’s geometry, underscoring the volumes that make up a seamlessly interconnected whole. The ultra-clean flanks sweep back along the entire car from a dihedral section. Although retaining a signature Ferrari sensuality, the wings

ferrari.com FERRARI 12CILINDRI

have been sculpted with extreme geometric precision: all the lines are the result of intersections between the volumes and a more functional approach to form has been taken that echews nostalgia. The muscular rear wing is imposing, yet also perfectly controlled geometrically. On the front wing, that muscular tension extends slightly, coming to rest along the flank and further accentuating the car’s monolithic aesthetic.

The design of the Ferrari 12Cilindri’s interior sees it split into three different levels. The first, dominated by the upper part of the dash, continues around to blend into the door panel trim. Next is the central area while the third includes the footwells and seats. Each level is clearly defined, heightening the dual-cockpit effect through the colour and material combinations. These are used to create either an elegant or sporty look for the seats and other features. Ferrari’s signature luxury and performance are flanked on the Ferrari 12Cilindri by a focus on environmental sustainability: extensive use has been made of sustainable materials such as Alcantara© containing 65% recycled polyester.

The interior style takes its inspiration from the Prancing Horse’s dual-cockpit architecture. In recent years, that layout was used for the Ferrari Roma and Roma Spider as well as the Ferrari Purosangue. The Ferrari 12Cilindri’s cabin has an almostsymmetrical structure comprising two modules for driver and passenger and offering an astonishing standard of comfort and involvement in the driving experience.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri introduces a new Human Machine Interface (HMI) comprising three displays that raise the Ferrari V12 berlnietta onboard experience to new heights. All of the main functions can be controlled from the central 10.25” touchscreen capacitive display within reach of both driver and passenger. This is flanked by a 15.6” driver display showing all of the driving and vehicle dynamics information. Lastly the passenger is always completely involved in the driving experience thanks to an 8.8” display that ensures they feel like a genuine co-driver.

Every aspect of this car has been carefully designed and engineered to provide the very best you can expect from a Ferrari V12, whether you are a seasoned collector or looking to jump into the world of these iconic cars for the first time. Future icons are often hard to predict, but if this is the Ferrari V12 swan song, there is no doubt it will find a place in the history books.

Drop Head Gorgeous

Just over 2,500 drop-head coupé variants of the XK150 were produced between 1957 and '61. Bearing an aesthetic family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was heavily revised with features such as a one-piece windscreen rather than the previous split-screen design and a wing line which carried higher with more streamlined doors.

Performance was also improved from 1958 on with upgrades to the engine and braking systems.

This absolutely stunning 1958 example is finished in stunning white coachwork with a red leather interior and lack mohair soft top. It is a left-hand drive car with automatic transmission and has been upgraded to the 3.8 S spec. The car was purchased by renowned US dealer Hyman and described by them as a concourse condition car.

When it arrived in the UK in 2015 it was treated to an engine rebuild and upgrade to 3.8 S spec. Other upgrades included electric power steering, and upgraded later 4.2 Jaguar floor change with automatic transmission, halogen headlights, period style blue tooth radio, 12volt battery conversion and a full mechanical overhaul to the tune of over £50,000 by marque specialists with invoices to show works carried out.

As a result, it drives as a well-sorted and upgraded car should and would make an ideal touring car.

PRIME RENTAL GROWTH STEADIES AFTER LONG BULL RUN

Over the course of 2021, 2022 and 2023 rental values of prime residential property in London rose by an eye-watering average of 23.1% - making this the strongest three-year period of growth in rents for a quarter of a century.

However, over the last six months, there’s been a pronounced change in market conditions, with annual rental growth slowing and an increasingly wide divergence in landlord and tenant rent expectations.

Jessica Tomlinson, a research analyst at Savills details how the turn of 2024 marked the return to a more seasonal rental market; where growth is typically seen in the busier summer market, easing back towards the later part of the year.

“Prime London rental values ticked up 0.3% over the first three months of 2024, according to our latest index results. While on an annual basis, the rate of rental growth has slowed for six consecutive quarters to 3.2% in Q1, rents still stand significantly higher (18%) than pre-pandemic levels.

Savills Sloane Street | 020 7730 0822 | savills.co.uk SAVILLS 72

“Despite a slight uptick in growth during the first quarter of the year, affordability pressures and increased stock meant that rental growth settled at a much lower level compared with the last three years. But with rents remaining at a record high paired with the prospect of falling mortgage rates, we expect to see some financial relief for landlords.

Rental growth continues to exceed capital value growth, resulting in higher yields that will support the continued investment of assets”

“In London, houses are now outperforming flats, signalling that the flats market maybe hitting an affordability ceiling, while tenants searching for houses typically have slightly more leeway when it comes to their budgets. In addition, a stronger sales market has placed a degree of pressure on the number of houses there are to rent across the capital - particularly in West and North West London.

Mismatch between tenant and landlord expectations

“As the market readjusts to a steadier pace of growth, differences in landlord and tenant expectations have widened. While Savills letting agents broadly agreed (60%) that tenant expectations on rental prices had reduced over the three months to March, just 25% believed that landlords thought the same. Rather, half of agents (50%) agreed that landlords expectations on rents had continued to increase over the past three months.

“A shift in market conditions has caused the gap between landlord and tenant expectations to widen. With more choice, tenants are more commonly bidding below asking price on multiple properties. Greater consensus on pricing will be all the more vital in the coming months as the majority of agents across London and the country agree that stock will increase further over the course of the year.”
