GOLDTECH™ OROCARBO The rare combination of innovation and tradition are something Panerai have been keen to explore. Expanding the dimensions of its collection of diving instruments with a new offering that combines two innovative materials for the first time - Panerai GoldtechTM and CarbotechTM. Once again an exponent of the well tested 44mm size, the new reference makes its distinctive character apparent through a balance between disciplined elegance and bold athleticism. Its personality is enhanced by a case made from Panerai GoldtechTM, a gold alloy with an intense and stable colour made possible by its significant copper content and enrichment with platinum. The dial features applied indexes and satinÊ soleil decoration, an unconventional embellishment in the Submersible collection. To break with the ordinary and accentuate the attitude of the model, a material was chosen to give shape and substance to functional components such as the bezel, crown and crown bridge lever. Known as CarbotechTM, this composite consists of overlapping carbon fiber sheets with alternating orientations (seven per millimeter), aggregated using controlled temperature and high pressure and fused with a late-generation polymer binder. Conceived to realize its full potential in extreme conditions, and tailored to the specific requirements of diving, the Submersible GoldtechTM is configured as a highly reliable tool able to withstand high pressure thanks to features like a unidirectional rotating bezel and screwed caseback. Luminescent indexes, hands and dots in green/blue are immediately legible underwater. High quality mechanics contribute to the model’s reliability, accuracy and precision, all functional contributions thanks to the P.900 Caliber. Notably for a watch of its diameter and thickness - 4.2mm - it combines a date indication and three-day power reserve. Water resistant up to 30 bar, the new Submersible GoldtechTM features a black rubber strap and a trapezoidal pin buckle in titanium with black DLC coating. An additional strap composed of Panerai SportechTM in black with ecru stitching also accompanies the watch, along with a screwdriver for removing the buckle and a box made from recycled plastic. panerai.com

THE FALCON PROJECT Just a few months after launching its UR-210 “final edition” model, the independent watchmaker, URWERK, has put into orbit a newcomer in its UR-Satellite collection: the UR-220 “Falcon Project”. With its manually wound movement and control board on its back, the new UR-220 goes back to URWERK’s earlier technologies in a case that is sleeker, more ergonomic and as stunning as ever. One exceptional feature is the return of the Oil Change indicator in a new guise. A quick glance to the UR-220 could be misleading. Look again because everything has changed here. Although the UR-220 has adopted some of the features of its predecessor, the entire movement has been reconceived, redesigned and reworked. Starting with the back of the watch for a change, “Falcon Project” shows how much the 200 series modules have evolved. The signature Oil Change indicator returns after years of absence to show the accumulated engine running time of the watch. A long standing feature in the UR-110 models, it now returns with some well thought out upgrades. In the UR-220, the Oil Change indicator takes the shape of a numerical counter calibrated in months, shown on two adjacent rollers. The log of the movement’s running time is started by the owner of the watch who removes a security pin and presses the pusher on the back of the UR-220. From then on, the counter displays the accumulated running time of the watch in months. When it reaches 39 months, it is time to take the watch in for a service and oil change. URWERK’s watchmakers will set the counter back to zero and replace the pin at the end of the service. On the material side, the UR-220 is clad in carbon. The result is an extremely tough but featherweight case, composed of 81 ultra-thin layers of high-resistance 150g CTP carbon compressed into a hard resin. The strap again ventures into new territory. It is the company’s first rubber strap, and therefore had to be something special. The strap is cured, moulded and textured by the Vulcarboné© process which gives it a touch like velvet. Many years of research into nano-textures were needed to create this effect. Then the strap is stitched and finished by hand to ensure supreme comfort, strength and appearance.

Project Z14 Like its predecessors, Project Z14 reconciles creative contradictions, as refined details meet bold mechanics.

The strategic staging of architectural elements to create a tridimensional timepiece is a Project Z signature. Transparent materials and varying finishes allow for an open-dial design that is defined and modern. For fourteen years, the Project Z series has balanced consistency and innovation. At the forefront of this collection is Zalium, the ultra-

The 42.2 mm diameter case is free from overhangs or excess and strikes the perfect balance between complexity and comfort. Technical, artistic and structural principles work in harmony to create

light, corrosion-resistant alloy used to craft each case. Another series signature, the Project Z14 is limited to 300 units. While key elements remain the same, the Project Z simultaneously brings unexpected newness each year. In Project Z14, a retrograde second with a 30-second range, new openwork structure and dominant gray colour palette punctuated by shades of blue make their mark. The Project Z14 case is distinguished not only by its material, Zalium, but also by its shapes, lugs, crown and signature arches that recall the entrance to Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon. This year, different from past years, the case features a chamfered bezel and arches to pay homage to the beveled finishes on the dial.

the unique identity of this timepiece, which features strong colours and finishes, as well as shapes, angles and depth. Harry Winston blue is used for the hands and indexes located in the excentered counter at noon and for the seconds arch at 120 degrees. Red is used for the seconds hand and gray dominates the remainder of the dial, as black accents emphasize the dynamic details and levels. Project Z14 catches the eye, with trickery and amusement. The overlapping segments, arcs and colors have both a technical and an aesthetic mission. By relentlessly pushing the logic of excenteredness and levels even further, Harry Winston reaches new heights with Project Z14.

PORSCHE DESIGN SPORT CHRONO For the first time in the Panamera, the must-have Sport Chrono Package includes an exclusive chronometer from Porsche Design. This will allow performance enthusiasts to keep an eye on their personal record time at every second. The exclusive clock features a high-quality metal dial, ceramic indices and manufacture-made hands. A specially developed lighting technology allows perfect readability in poor light conditions and even in the dark. In addition to the Sport Chrono Porsche Design clock designed for the car interior, the company has introduced the Sport Chrono wristwatch collection. The new product line, which includes a chronograph and three models featuring the small second, combines classic design features, materials and the typical performance characteristics of sports car construction. The automatic chronograph is powered by the C.O.S.C.-certified Porsche Design calibre WERK 01.100, while the three variants of the Sport Chrono Sub Second are equipped with the new, in-house developed Porsche Design calibre WERK 03.200, which has also earned a C.O.S.C. chronometer certificate. Like the dashboard instruments, the automatic movement puts the display of the small seconds at six o’clock into the spotlight, highlighting once again Porsche Design’s watchmaking expertise and offering customers and friends of the Porsche brand the opportunity to wear a feature of their sports car on their wrist. When the legendary Porsche 911 was first launched, the dashboard instruments included an electric timepiece as part of the 5-tube instruments. In the early 2000s, Porsche added an additional central instrument that was placed prominently in the middle. Initially displaying lap times, it was continuously refined to provide more control functions for engine and chassis components as well as the exhaust system. As part of the so-called “Sport Chrono Package,” it was not a classic three-hand clock, but rather an instrument with a digital display and a single hand.

With the new Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Design’s Sub Second timepiece, the vision of combining a sports car with a perfectly readable instrument in the form of a premium wristwatch chronometer has become reality. It is being offered in manufacture assembly, which features a highend metal dial with radial cut, ceramic indices with Superluminova coating and metal hands. In combination with the specially developed incident-light technology, the very effect of Porsche Design time-pieces is being transferred to the car interior.

Cottonmill has partnered with leading British brands, ELEMIS, ESPA and Aromatherapy Associates, to offer a wide variety of treatments. Their Sand and Water treatments in particular are a real highlight and unlike many treatments found elsewhere. Based on ancient wisdom that immersing your body in hot sand eases the symptoms of many medical conditions, including aching joints and

muscle pain, Cottonmill offers guests a range of specialist thermal therapy treatments. The ESPA Vichy Affusion Massage in particular is a unique treatment that begins with an invigorating skin brush, before a soothing aromatic ESPA salt and oil scrub is applied, followed by an affusion shower. Working with differing temperatures and pressures, the shower is both an unusual and effective addition to the treatment as the soothing sound of water mixed with the pressure of the droplets makes for a completely sensorial treat. What’s more, the treatment finishes with a personalised massage to further soothe and relax the body. After a relaxing day in the spa opt for dinner at The Brasserie. With a large open place kitchen, the a la carte menu offers a range of classics from sirloin steak cooked on a Mibrasa charcoal oven; the Sopwell House burger with Dedham Vale beef, smoked applewood cheese and streaky bacon; and truffle wild mushroom risotto. Breakfast, Lunch and Sunday roast are served buffet-style with a fantastic selection of dishes both hot and cold with daily specials inspired by global cuisines. Elsewhere, and a more casual option for cosy spa days, The Pantry provides a number of healthy options at their fresh buffet

The Carlton Tower Jumeirah’s Grand Reopening Just a month’s shy of celebrating its 60th anniversary, The Carlton Tower Jumeirah will reopen its doors in December 2020 following an all-encompassing renovation - the most extensive in its history. Once the tallest hotel in London; The Carlton Tower Jumeirah is a modern classic with a rich history in the heart of Knightsbridge. Many of the newly-created signature and junior suites will boast balconies with spectacular views over London, and guests will have exclusive access to private garden square Cadogan Gardens and its tennis courts. The Dorchester have offered up a little something to brighten up your day with J&B Rare. Step into the iconic British restaurant, The Grill at The Dorchester, and you can indulge in the stunning limited edition cocktail ‘The Tangerine Tipple’, made using J&B Rare Scotch Whisky. Keen to create something new, award winning Senior Bartender of The Bar at The Dorchester, Lucia Montanelli was called upon to create the cocktail menu for The Grill Bar and decided to play with J&B Rare’s herbaceous notes and cut through the slight hint of smoke, by introducing sharpness from cranberry whilst adding sweetness with tangerine syrup. A twist on the traditional whisky sour - ‘The Tangerine Tipple’ was born. The Grill Bar’s menu champions whisky as the perfect canvas for delicious cocktails and the selection on offer is second to none. What's more, you get to enjoy the spectacular interior space and atmosphere of The Grill inside one of the world’s most prestigious hotels. Retaining much of its original 1930’s decor, the hotel and The Grill provide the perfect setting for the delicious new cocktail. A nod to J&B Rare’s heritage - having been developed in the 1930s by Mayfair neighbours, Justerini & Brooks, for post-prohibition America, the blended Scotch whisky has been distilled, blended and bottled in Scotland since the early 1930’s. J&B Rare is a blend of 42 malt and grain whiskies, the heart of J&B Rare is formed from the finest Speyside malts including Knockando, Glen Spey, Auchriosk and Strathmill. The blend is returned to the cask for a further three years’ maturation which brings together the bold flavours of the single malts, with the lighter grain whiskies adding fullness and depth to the blend.

300 SPORT .Jaguar has gone dark with the new 300 Sport Special Edition of their F-Pace. Featuring a unique specification and sleek, head-turning style, this car combines discreet performance with in-your-face aesthetics and it does it in serious style.

ROLLS-ROYCE GHOST

NEW GHOST Reinventing the wheel is an impossible task. Reinventing the way wheels work as part of something bigger is a task Rolls-Royce have been defying the odds on for decades, and the new Ghost is no exception. Designed and built from the ground up with just two items carried over from the previous model - the Spirit of Ecstasy and the infamous door umbrellas - this all-new offering brings surprising levels of improvement in areas even the loyal customer base never found fault.

As possibly the world's most customer focused company, the process of creating the next generation Ghost began quite simply by asking those customers their thoughts on the current car and what expectations they might have for a new replacement. From there, the marque embarked on creating this stunning new version based on the idea of 'post-opulence' design. Taking a considerable step away from the historically opulent design cues, the new Ghost needed to boast minimalist aesthetics whilst maintaining the same levels of quality and comfort expected from the brand. Needless to say, Rolls-Royce were not going to rest on their laurels and have produced a product that speaks for itself whether you look at the exterior design or delve into the mechanical engineering created to provide an even smoother ride than before. Working from the ground up, every aspect of Ghost has been put through the rigorous process from design to engineering in order to develop a truly stunning, modern car that is quite honestly unrivaled in ride and comfort - at least until the next generation Phantom comes to the table. Unique, never before seen technology in the automotive industry has been introduced, pushing the hallmark 'magic carpet ride' to new heights. Both physical, mechanical elements and the latest software technologies combine to create the impressive Planar Suspension System.

rolls-roycemotorcars.com

YOUR DRIVE "The first Goodwood Ghost was a response to a whole new generation of clients, both in age and attitude. These men and women asked us for a slightly smaller, less ostentatious means to own a Rolls-Royce. To create a new product that would resonate with our Ghost clients for the next ten years meant we had to listen carefully to their demands. Today we set new standards in customer centricity by creating a completely new motor car for a unique group of Rolls-Royce’s clients." Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

A world-first upper wishbone damper has been introduced into the suspension setup creating an even more stable and comfortable ride. The effortlessly smooth ride is supported by the impressive flagbearer and satellite aided transmission systems to 'see' the road ahead and prepare the car for upcoming variations in the surface, while the unique mechanical setup provides vast improvements in the ride when you want to drive a little more enthusiastically. Considerably more composure through corners now allows you to enjoy everything the 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine has to offer - including its staggering 563bhp and 850Nm of torque. Boasting an impressive zero to sixty time of just 4.6 seconds and (governed) top speed of 155mph for a car weighing in at two and a half tonnes is no small feat. Of course, you wouldn't get to indulge in such a luxurious interior space if you were more concerned about weight. Thankfully, Rolls-Royce are never going to shy away from the reputation they have built and continue to push the boundaries of material use and design. A strikingly simple interior design offers up clean lines and userfriendly interface for both driver and passengers with every kind

of technology at your fingertips. The opulent comfort of a RollsRoyce seat goes even further than ever before, incorporating both heating and ventilation that is completely inaudible. Sound was a big factor in this new car's design and engineering, so much so that they have not only utilised the otherwise dead space within the aluminium architecture to provide essential air for the sound system, and turned the headliner of the car into a basic 'speaker' to provide low level sound filling in otherwise missing noise from your favourite tracks, but have actually had to reduce the amount of noise canceling used as the car was 'too quite' on the road. Despite already offering one of the most impressive rides of any car on the road, the British marque have managed to somehow improve on it to such a degree that you will be left wondering how you could have ever imagined that the outgoing model was actually any good at all! The level of detail both the design and engineering departments have gone to in order to create this incredible car are beyond us mere mortal's understanding. This all-new Ghost is a true spectacle both inside and out.

300 JAGUAR F-PACE 300 SPORT

SPORT

Adding to the award-winning line-up of their F-Pace model line, Jaguar have introduced two special edition vehicles; the feature filled Chequered Flag and performance focused 300 Sport. The latter of which brings an even sportier, aggressive aesthetic to the already athletic looking SUV and features some exciting upgrades under the bonnet to match. Boasting either a 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol or 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, the 300 Sport is capable of 0-60mph in under 6 seconds

and a top speed of 145mph in its petrol guise thanks to 400Nm of torque and an unsurprising 300PS (get it) of power. Nestling into the model line behind the insanely impressive F-Pace SVR, the 300 Sport Special Edition provides customers with a taste of its faster sister's performance at a much more palatable price. Saving over £20k at starting price level over its SVR counterpart, the 300 Sport is a very attractive proposition indeed. Especially when you consider the extensive extras list that will save you over £3,000 over a same-spec 300PS R-Sport. The 300 Sport is distinguished by a sporty selection of exterior and interior features including 22” grey alloy wheels and distinctive dark satin grey exterior detailing. At the front, the grille surround, side window surrounds, side vents, mirror caps and door finishers, as well as the rear valance all receive the dark satin treatment. jaguar.co.uk

YOUR DRIVE

While '300 SPORT' badges feature on the front grille and rear tailgate just to make sure everyone knows exactly what you've got under the bonnet. The special edition is available exclusively in just three colour options; Yulong White, Indus Silver and Santorini Black. Inside, you will find the striking yellow contrast stitching on the instrument panel, centre console and leather seats providing a unique feel to the interior - a welcome step away from the traditional red colour palette you would expect to illustrate sportiness and performance. The 300 Sport logo is also badged on the treadplates, carpet mats and steering wheel and is also embossed on the front headrests - in case you find yourself forgetting. Comfort and convenience features include Touch Pro Navigation with Connect Pro that enables the driver to control

essential features remotely. Jaguar’s 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display which provides a customisable and intuitive driver interface - a vast improvement over previous versions and now one of the more user friendly on the market. The usually added extras of their impressive Meridian sound system, panoramic roof and 14-way heated electric front seats with memory also form part of the standard specification for the 300 Sport only adding to its appeal. When buying the 300 Sport, you will also have the option to upgrade the standard specification further with a number of additional features. This includes 18-way seats, with the option of heated rear seats, adaptive cruise control, adaptive dynamics and an opening panoramic roof amongst other things, but with a standard package as impressive as this, it's not a necessity. jaguar.co.uk

JAGUAR F-PACE 300 SPORT

“The Jaguar F-PACE has established itself as the ultimate performance SUV. Not only does it combine sports car DNA with the practicality of a larger vehicle, it does so with a great aesthetic. The latest special editions build on this visual appeal by enhancing the model’s sporting character to each create something unique. The F-PACE line-up has something for everyone.” Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar

YOUR DRIVE On the road, the 300 Sport offers consider poise and presence and certainly in Santorini Black with the dark detailing, it provides a luxuriously menacing aesthetic that will turn plenty of heads. The huge wheels support this sporty appeal whilst also adding some function, delivering substantial surface contact and consequently plenty of grip, the car is comfortable at any speed both cruising on the motorway and enjoying winding country roads. Not necessarily built for city driving, the car remains an F-Pace at its core and is sized as such, but the additional nimble nature of the special edition makes for quicker decision making and response allowing you to enjoy the car in any situation. Thanks to the cars size, you also get to enjoy an impressive level of interior space, from driving position to rear passengers and of course an impressive boot. The convenience of the F-Pace's versatility is what has allowed it to achieve countless awards and high praise and the latest update pushes it further than ever before. JAGUAR MARK 2 This stunning British luxury sports saloon was built between 1959 and 1967 at the marque's Coventry home. The Mark 2 brought even more speed and space than its Mark 1 predecessor thanks to the larger 3.8-litre engine. Similar to the unit used in the 3.8 E-Type, the car boasted just 220bhp, just 30 less than its E-Type counterpart. All of this made for an impressive vehicle that would take you from zero to sixty in 8.5 seconds and up to a top speed of 125mph. Fully restored, this example is presented in the very desirable colour combination of Old English white coachwork with new red leather interior and stunning wire wheels.

This comes with its original registration number, a very large service file, original green log book, manuals and heritage certificate. It is an early UK supplied car with matching numbers and is still in its original colour combination. It has received an upgrade with a retro bluetooth radio for a touch of modern connectivity. It also features a beautiful Moto Lita wooden steering wheel. It has just been subjected to a circa ÂŁ46,000 full restoration by marque specialists Jagtechnic with invoices and photos to show all of the works carried out. The body was totally restored with new panels, engine out, all new rubbers, new clutch and brake parts, petrol tank, full carburetor rebuild, door seals, radiator hoses, brake master cylinder, oil feed pipes, new carpets and recent leather interior. The restoration was completed in 2020 and the car has covered running in miles since. It drives as a very well sorted Jaguar MK2 should.

SAVILLS

Making a Virtual Impression with Charlotte Hodges-Peck, Senior Interior Consultant at Savills Interior Services The events of 2020 have brought with it a whole new group of first-time home workers with many of turning to video conferencing as a way to keep up with those we can no longer see face to face. From Zoom to Microsoft Teams and FaceTime, each platform has its own unique offering, but all have one thing in common: it gives your colleagues a direct stream into your home and your privacy. Dressing your conference call background to save any embarrassment or technical difficulties is therefore essential. Here's how to do it: • Know your audience - consider who you’re speaking to and the level of formality that will be expected in your call. If it’s a quick team catch-up akin to a chat by the water cooler you will have less to worry about. If, however, you’re discussing matters with an

important client, you may wish to consider what is within frame (as well as what you’re wearing) more seriously. • Personal items - minimalise the personal photos in the background or anything that could be potentially embarrassing. Your office may now be in your home but in the working day you should try to keep it clear of clutter and make it look as professional as you can. • Think about lighting - is it too bright or too dark? Natural light is best where possible, try to have the main source of light on you not behind you. • Add some greenery - plants can enhance the aesthetics of a frame, they’re also thought to boost mood and Old Church Street, productivity. This may change as the sun moves throughout the day, so your perfect spot for an 11am call may not be the same mid afternoon. And whenever possible try a test call to check your video, microphone and speakers all work. • Background noise - typing, for example, can be very noisy for the others on the call, consider being on mute when you aren’t speaking.

Is the E14 market really booming?

As an E14 market expert, I'm obsessed with property market data. One of the most fun parts of my job is meeting buyers, sellers, renters and landlords and helping them make fantastic deals. I then love to analyse the data coming through from all our various sources and see how our experience matches wider trends. The amount of positive sentiment I'm picking up from our clients is staggering. The engine for a lot of this market momentum is the pent-up demand from the early Brexit days which has finally been unleashed. More importantly, however, is the feeling that when there’s a lot of uncertainty in the world, property is always good. This is why prices in our area have risen 33.2 per cent since 2010.

I have noticed some changes in what buyers are after. This is particularly true of the demand for open space which is now at a premium. For houses, it’s as simple as ‘the more garden the better’. For flats every extra inch of balcony or terrace adds disproportionately to the desirability of the place. I’ve also noticed a certain amount of increased demand for homes in less densely populated parts of the area we cover. It’s usually at this point I start advising our readers to not let the grass grow under their feet and that now is a fantastic time to make their next move. However, it doesn’t look like anyone in E14 needs any encouragement from me! Spencer Fortag

Price Index (2011=100)

We know we live in a great area, and because most people agree, demand has driven up house prices. But how do prices in our area stack up in terms of property types? This chart looks at the comparison over the last eight years.

We've included this chart to show the relative number of flats and houses selling in the last 9 months in our area. Due to the profile of the housing stock in the area, there's nothing too surprising here, but it's interesting to see how the different types of properties contribute to total sales levels.

Type of property Property types are a handy measure of the shape of the market in a local area. For example, areas with lots of flats tend to be urban in character because there is huge pressure on land. A large number of detached homes means that the area is suburban and not very densely populated.
