Nowhere but here.

Doctor Jeffrey Martins has changed my whole life. I’m so much more confident now and I feel better about myself. You see, I’ve always had such small teeth, and I was self-conscious about it. I didn’t like how they looked, so I never wanted to smile.

I tried to have my teeth fixed once before. I got some dental work done at another place about five years ago and it helped the situation some, but I wasn’t happy with the results. What they did to fix my teeth didn’t look natural and although I put up with it, the work they did was really only a temporary fix. I put up with it for a long time, but I was still always self-conscious about the way my teeth looked.

When I decided to visit Paradise Dental, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve always been nervous about having my teeth worked on, but everyone there was so friendly and the team really put me at ease. They took the time to listen to all of my concerns and what I hoped to accomplish, then recommended veneers for my front teeth. I liked that they took their time and helped me choose just the right color so my teeth would look more natural and not fake.

Now, everyone comments on my nice smile. I’m so happy about the results, but the best part is that I’m not afraid to smile anymore! They did a wonderful job.” - Rowena B.

A+E EDITOR’S PICKS

‘THE BARBER OF SEVILLE’

When: Feb. 22 through March 29

Where: Sarasota Opera House

Tickets: $32-$155

Visit: SarasotaOpera.org.

One of the most beloved operas, “The Barber of Seville” follows Count Almaviva (tenor Hak Soo Kim), as he tries to woo Rosina (mezzo-soprano Lisa Maria Rogali). She is protected by her guardian, Dr. Bartolo (bass-baritone Stefano de Peppo), but the Count gets help in disguising himself to try to enter the Bartolo residence by the barber Figaro. He will be played by Italian baritone Filippo Fontana, who returns to Sarasota Opera to reprise the role.

‘ANNA IN THE TROPICS’

When: Feb. 21 through March 13

Where: Asolo Repertory Theatre

Tickets: $35-$99

Visit: AsoloRep.org.

To get inspired for “Anna in the Tropics,” members of the Asolo Repertory Theatre spent time in Ybor City near Tampa, where the play is set. Cuban immigrants who came to work in Ybor City’s cigar factories brought with them the tradition of the lector, who would read to them as they rolled cigars. When a dashing lector begins reading “Anna Karenina,” he transforms the lives of those who hear Tolstoy’s romantic Russian novel.

‘FENCES’

When: Jan. 15 through Feb. 23

Where: Westcoast

Black Theatre

Troupe

Tickets: $22-$52

Visit: WestcoastBlackTheatre.org.

“Fences”is the sixth play of playwright August Wilson’s 10-part Pittsburgh Cycle. Set in 1957, it follows a garbage collector whose baseball dreams were derailed by bigotry. His unresolved anger creates trouble with his son, who’s got his own big league ambitions.

‘AMERICAN ROOTS’: THE LUBBEN BROTHERS & KEY CHORALE

When: Jan. 18

Where: Church of the Palms

Tickets: $45

Visit: KeyChorale.org.

The Lubben Brothers have moved to Nashville, but you can’t blame Floridians for wanting to hang on to them. Michael, Tom and Joshua feel like family, thanks to their collaborations with Key Chorale. This year’s show features the songs of Gordon Lightfoot, Simon and Garfunkel and others performed by the Key Chorale Chamber Singers and the talented triplets. The Lubben Brothers collectively play so many instruments that they cannot all be listed here. They also write and compose songs.

NOCHEUNIDOS @ THE RINGLING

When: Jan. 31

Where: The Ringling Museum of Art Courtyard

Tickets: $45-$150, Students $10

Visit: Ringling.org.

The partnership between UnidosNow and The Ringling will showcase cultures that have influenced Florida, including Africa, Indigenous America and Europe. Guests are asked to wear white as they party to Puerto Rican rhythms from Bomba Yemayá and Mardi Gras standards from the New Orleans-based 79rs Gang.

Benefiting: The Ringling

When: 5:30 p.m. Feb. 15

Where: The Ringling Tickets: $150

Info: Visit Ringling.org

Take a trip around the world with exotic food and wine samples, all without leaving the beautiful campus of The Ringling. Sample your way through the gardens until you reach John and Mable’s house on Sarasota Bay, where live music and entertainment awaits with stunning views of the water.

FORKS & CORKS

Tickets: $195

Info: Visit EatLikeaLocal.com.

Eat local but drink globally at this annual event by the Sarasota-Manatee Originals. Pairing premier wines from all over the world with bites cooked up by our favorite local eateries. ORCHID BALL

Benefiting: Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

When: 6 p.m. Feb.

8

Where: Selby Gardens downtown campus Tickets: Sponsorships

$2,500+

Info: Visit Selby. org.

A play on the famous Beatles song, this year’s Orchid Ball celebrates George Harrison with its “Here Comes the Moon” theme. Enjoy the most fabulous cocktail hour around among the banyan trees and take in the sights and sounds of Selby Gardens’ exhibit on display throughout the grounds before it opens to the public.

ROCK THE ROOF

Benefiting: Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation

When: 7 p.m. Feb. 22

Where: SMH’s west parking garage Tickets: $175

Info: Visit SMHF.org.

An event so nice, we picked it twice. Once in the fall, when it was originally scheduled, and again at its new date after those nasty hurricanes foiled plans. It’s still guaranteed to be a rockin’ good time with great food, drinks and a roof-top dance floor that will make you feel like you’re on top of the world — or just Sarasota.

AFRAID of FILLERS? Treatment options

for YOUR skin’s aging journey

REVERSE Aging with Non-Surgical Plexr® Plasma Energy

Plexr® Plasma technology is a nonsurgical treatment designed to address various skin concerns. It offers an excellent alternative to traditional surgery for procedures like eyelid lifts and neck lifts, and reduces wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. Not only is it effective, it’s also more affordable compared to conventional surgical options.

PRESERVE younger-looking skin for longer with Collagen Banking

Our skin changes as we age. Around age 30, our collagen levels, which keep our skin firm and youthful, start to decline. By 40, we may have lost up to 15% of our collagen, leading to fine lines and wrinkles. Collagen Banking treatments are performed to preserve your collagen supply. Plexr® Plasma Shower treatments stimulate months of collagen production to maintain, and even restore, your collagen levels to slow the signs of aging.

ANNA MARIA OYSTER BAR AT UTC

NOW OPEN! The newest outpost of the Anna Maria Oyster Bars at UTC boasts a 40-seat indoor-outdoor raw bar. Its crown jewel is the shucking station, where boutique oysters are cracked fresh to order, sourced from the best family-owned farms.

From the moment you sit, it’ll be tough to choose which Tiki Drink, our NEW selection of tropical craft cocktails, to sample first. The NEW Wine List is full of well-known bottles you crave, plus brands yet to discover, and the dining menu is infused with fresh, bold flavors with dishes like the Tropical Chicken Bowl, Seafood Cobb Salad, or Cobia Tacos with mango pico. The entire restaurant is eye-candy, and with Five Star Fun daily deals like Happy Hour and Wine Down Wednesday, we hope all of our neighbors on the Ranch hurry in to say hey.
