SPA DAYS
… and relax
The start of a new year is the perfect time to recharge your batteries and we’ve selected some of the best spas in Scotland for some serious downtime. Grab a cuppa and start planning the perfect getaway for some pre-wedding pampering or a chilled out minimoon.
Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa
The Old Course; three little words that are synonymous with luxury. The world famous St Andrews establishment serves up treatments to soothe you and help you feel amazing at its Kohler Waters Spa; and believe us when we say it’s the last word.
This is the only Kohler Spa outside the US and you could easily spend the entire day here being pampered in the 13 treatment rooms – including two couple’s rooms - two wet treatment rooms with Kohler bathing experiences, a 20m indoor swimming pool, a hydrotherapy pool, steam room, experience showers, refreshing ice fountain, cold plunge pool and sauna. What better way to spend a day and let all your worries melt away?

The Spa at Blythswood Square
If you’re after a lavish spa experience in the heart of Glasgow look no further than Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel’s spa, described as the “one-stop station for relaxation”. Guests and locals alike flock to the spa as a little oasis of peace. In the nine luxury treatment rooms you’ll enjoy a range of luxurious, holistic treatments including an ishga detox body wrap, hot stone massage or why not book a bespoke facial? Then there’s the not-to-bemissed thermal experience, a series of rooms that take you through wet and dry, warm and cold. Alternate between hot saunas and steam rooms and chilly ice fountains and cold showers to really get your blood going and improve your mood. And once you’re feeling thoroughly relaxed and rejuvenated you can kick back in the spa café with a glass of fizz.

Located at the Cameron Club, two miles north of Cameron House Hotel, the Cameron Spa sits on the banks of Loch Lomond and where better to enjoy the unrivalled views than from the roof-top infinity pool? Your spa experience begins with a personal consultation with your therapist who will tailor your treatment to your individual needs. Then it’s time to kick back and let yourself unwind in the serene surroundings.
The Cameron Club hydro and thermal experiences are inspired by the tranquil loch. You can mix it up, moving between the hydro experiences of the hydrotherapy pool, the infinity pool, experience showers, ice fountain and relaxation pool or the thermal experiences which include the caldarium, hammam room, sauna and more. But if you just want to stretch out for some proper pampering head to the treatment rooms and choose from a wide range of body wraps, massages, facials and pedicures, to name but a few. cameronhouse.co.uk

Ardoe House Hotel & Spa
The team at the Spa at Ardoe pride themselves in being experts in relaxation and leaving guests feeling refreshed and de-stressed and it’s easy to see why. Spa days here include unlimited use of Ardoe Health Club with its fitness studio, 18m swimming pool, sauna and steam room while you wander round in fluffy bath robes and slippers. But don’t stop there. The treatment list at Ardoe is extensive, ranging from a signature Swedish massage to a three algae body wrap, a collagen radiance facial or a pamper pedicure.
It’s the hen party package for two though that’s really caught our eye. For £109 two of your hens can enjoy full use of the facilities, a light lunch, glass of Prosecco and 30 minute treatment with a choice of a Swedish massage, Signature facial or express manicure. Sounds like utter bliss! ardoehouseblairs.co.uk
Stobo Castle
Known as Scotland’s only destination spa, Stobo Castle offers a super luxurious, opulent and relaxing option as a place to get your loved ones together to celebrate pre-wedding. If you’re ready for some well-earned downtime after months of busy wedding planning this is the place for you. Located in the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside, Stobo is set around its own loch. Before you even set foot in one of the treatment rooms you’ll feel at ease relaxing in the beautiful grounds with their restful Japanese water gardens and waterfall, or if you’re feeling more active you could take to the hills for some mountainbiking. But this is first and foremost a destination spa and the list of treatments is extensive. There’s something for everyone and even an in-house hair studio. Once you’re feeling blissfully chilled out kick back in one of the beautifully-appointed bedrooms or enjoy a cocktail and fine dining. stobocastle.co.uk
