Chic boutique Sophia Grace Couture has expanded to bring you even more dreamy bridal looks

Sophia Grace Couture has become something of a bridal institution since it first opened its doors in part of a former bank building in Haddington over six years ago. Since then, brides-to-be have been making the pilgrimage to the East Lothian town in the hopes of finding The One. And it’s hardly surprising it’s become a must-visit boutique. In this chic and luxurious setting, to-be-weds can pore over rails from sought-after designers. Sophia Grace Couture is the exclusive stockist in Scotland of Calla Blanche, White April, Zavana and Zavana Couture. And you can also come up close and personal with gowns by renowned designers including Enzoani and Paloma Blanca. If that wasn’t enough, brides have found the perfect dresses for their bridesmaids here, while it’s also a go-to for prom and evening gowns. Then last October owner Naydene Commins received the keys to the rest of the elegant building and quickly got to work, spending three months transforming it into the ultimate bridal shopping destination. “I had a vision of what I wanted to create and therefore carried out most of the work myself,” says Naydene. “I can now add demolition to my skillset!” Within the new space Naydene had six rooms to overhaul, along with a rather sad looking staircase. Undaunted, she worked seven days a week as walls were knocked down and floors were ripped up. “The existing part of the boutique is very glamorous and spacious,” she says. “Therefore, I wanted to take this theme into our new Styling Suite.”

The style files

Now the new spaces are finished and fabulous, Naydene and her team have a lot more room to play with. The new bridesmaid and evening suite is a dedicated space where brides can bring their bridesmaids to view and try the stunning collection in their own private space. “This room has a real personal, luxurious and fun feel about it,” says Naydene.

Upstairs you’ll also find the boutique’s seamstresses, meaning brides can have all their fittings and alterations carried out on-site. Those who are on the point of deciding on their dream dress can also have any customisation queries answered there and then. But it’s the gorgeous new Styling Suite which is the jewel in Sophia Grace Couture’s already glittering crown. “It’s a luxury space where, as the name suggests, brides can be styled,” explains Naydene. “The room is very chic and has gorgeous accessories, from bridal hair combs, veils and gifts, not to mention our stunning collection of Badgley Mischka shoes.”

All Sophia Grace Couture brides receive a complimentary styling appointment in the suite or the main boutique when their own gown arrives. But you don’t need to have purchased your dress here. For a small booking fee any bride can visit the Styling Suite to try on accessories. They’re even invited to bring their own gown to try on and see the entire bridal look.

VIP treatment

Sounds pretty special doesn’t it? But if you want to elevate your bridal experience even further you can. “All our brides are treated like VIPs,” says Naydene. “However, brides who would like that little bit of extra time with their dedicated stylist can book our VIP package in our Styling Suite.” This service, complete with fizz and sweet treats, was something offered before on certain days in the old salon but now with the Styling Suite, you can book a VIP package any day. What are you waiting for?
