Fashion’s Night Out Janelle Pantry of sPACES weighs in on FNO:
J
anelle admitted than she was a bit apprehensive when she first heard the date that FNO was scheduled to be held. Her primary concern was the slow period that usually accompanies the back to school season. “I sat back however and looked at it and thought that seeing that September is a slow month anything that you can do to promote shopping even if it’s just window shopping is priceless, after all you can’t put a value on publicity”, says Janelle. Janelle has been operating for over three years but is nonetheless open to using this opportunity to get the name “SPACES” out there to all those who haven’t heard about it or had a chance to visit. SPACES is a store that specializes in home accessories and furniture including: picture frames, vases, artwork, decorative storage, shelving and home fragrances.
Kerry-Ann Clarke of Kerry manwomanhome weighs in on FNO:
I
t is rare that an event mobilizes the populace of our two cities and some of our major towns as Fashion’s Night Out did last weekend and Kerry Ann Clarke was filled with the excitement of what FNO represents. “FNO is a celebration of fashion and all players in the fashion industry. It is an opportunity for both business owners and shoppers. Business Owners are able to have an event around the celebration, move some stock, possibly get new customers, and show appreciation to their regular clients”, said Kerry, “ Shoppers have the opportunity to grab deals, and enjoy an evening or weekend of non-stop entertainment. “
Kerry also saw the progression of FNO as an encouraging sight and holds a lot of hope for the future. “FNO 2010 saw alot more businesses involved, which led to alot more hype, discounts, and events throughout Jamaica. It is the first year that The Jamaica Observer teamed with VOGUE on this inititative, and as such it also broadened the horizons for Jamaica by placing us once again on the international platform-this time in fashion!”, said Kerry, with obvious enthusiasm, “ Jamaica was the only country that participated in FNO, that does not have an edition of VOGUE being published in, and that also is a major achievement. All in all, it was a fabulous night filled with fashion, entertainment, and also a great boost in sales for business owners.”

L
ast Friday evening could have easily been mistaken for Christmas Eve with the buzz that was present in the capital city and other locations around the island. With the extended advertising that lasted for a month Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) did not disappoint, people were out in their number, most shopping for deals others simply basking in the excitement. Tropical and Mall Plazas had more people than a typical holiday night and Sovereign Center and the other major shopping areas in Kingston were no exception but no one did FNO quite like Kerry manwomanhome. A special evening hosted by Vanity Fair’s contributing editor, George Wayne brought out all the stars and of course all the shoppers. With exclusive gift bags from Jewels in Paradise and Digicel containing a broadband modem, limited edition Lubica shirts among other goodies, patrons were delighted with the offerings. The parking lot was transformed into Club Fiction’s “Johnny Walker lounge” with special disc jockey DJ Bambino, and was the ultimate after party for Fashion’s Night Out if you were in Kingston. If you did not stop by Kerry manwomanhome, you surely missed out but not to worry Your Style has the extensive coverage with all the stars and who’s who.
