The Found Object Drawing tasked us with selecting a random object in studio and representing it through plan, section, and elevation. The composition of the drawing was intended to convey a particular characteristic of the object. The chopper is a relatively static tool except for the blade handle itself, which swings at a 45 degree angle. In the composition, I chose to display the elevations in a spread of 45 degrees while then pulling out each section drawing at a 45 degree angle from its respective elevation.

Patriot Place Vitalization

Located in Foxborough, MA, Patriot Place is shopping center surrounding Gilette stadium. The owners, the Craft Group. Have expressed interest in expanding the existing center to make Patriot Place a more relevant site outside of the football season. Dress Pattern

Dress Pattern Skin Model

The dress pattern skin model was a process drawing which involved calling out a module from the found object drawing. The module was then repeated, overlaid, and polluted to ultimately form the dress pattern. The pattern itself was then marked with symbols that conveyed an action (i.e. fold up/down, cut out). The result created a skin model that adapted a two dimensional drawing and created a three dimensional model.

Territorial Quilt

Walking through the Embarcadero district as well as the historical waterfront of San Francisco, we mapped unique elements to the city. Focusing on the banners that pulled visitors through the city, I examined the tension they created when walking along populated streets. The banners infested the areas they inhabited and drove pedestrians towards their respective sites.

Performative Urban Theater

The Performative Urban Theater was a project that took the 3 functional words from the Territorial Quilt (pull, tension, and infest) and applied them to the structure, skin, and gizmo. The structure of the project came from creating a dress pattern of the multiple grids in San Francisco and pulling them down to create a habitable space. The skin of the theater evolved with my concept models to be a series of cables, pulled across the structure to create a tension that could suspend the floor without customary structural support. The building is wedged into the side of the Bay Bridge, literally infesting an existing structure.

On-Site Sketches

Completed while studying abroad in Italy, the sketches represent the process of learning to sketch on an architectural level. Beginning first with constructing elevations and plans, the sketches began to focus on conveying sectional, axonometric, and perspective drawings. The sketches were all drawing on-site in Florence, Rome, Siena, Como, and Venice.

Palazzo Gondi Analysis

Located in Piazza San Firenze, Florence, Palazzo Gondi is a excellent example of a privately owned palazzo. Designed by Giuliano Sangallo, the building analysis served as a valuable lesson in both Renaissance era architecture and the construction of elevations, plans, sections, axons, and perspectives.

Music Over the River

Located in Piazza Cestello, Florence, Music Over the River is a public recording studio for professionals and amateurs alike. Musicians can work independently or in collaboration with other artists. The live recording room is perfect for group recording sessions and the 5 individual isolation rooms provide the oppor- tunity for musicians to record separately while still maintaining a direct relationship with one another. The top floor houses the live theater where local band can showcase their talents in front of a live audience with a beautiful view of Florence and the Arno River as a backdrop.
