What do we mean when we ask, “How are we doing?”
Some might argue that this is simply a colloquialism by which to greet other people; while others might interpret it as a more pointed inquiry on our progress or performance.
Either way, this is the question that we are asking ourselves and our readers in light of the mental health challenges that are facing more and more young people, both here in Hong Kong and around the world.
In attempting to find answers to this double-edged question, this issue of Youth Hong Kong will assess causes, reflect on current policies, offer opinions and perspectives and even share personal experiences. From all this, it will become clear that mental health challenges require both individual and collective efforts from all sectors so that, in the long term, “How are we doing?” can be answered positively in both senses.
We hope you gain some insights from our tackling of this issue and we look forward to hearing your opinions too.
