An angel appeared to Mary and said, ‘Don’t be afraid! God is pleased with you, and you will have a son. His name will be Jesus’.
The emperor made all the people return to their home towns to be registered—this was the Great Census. So Mary and Joseph travelled to the village of Bethlehem.
Nearby, shepherds were in a field when an angel appeared to them. The shepherds were frightened! But the angel said, ‘Don’t be afraid! I have good news for you. A Saviour is born today—he is Christ the Lord!’
