One day, a blind man named Bartimaeus was sitting beside the road outside Jericho. He sat there every day begging for money. No doctor or medicine could help him, and he often felt sad.
Soon he heard footsteps and voices. ‘That sounds like a lot of people’, he thought. As the crowd came closer he wondered why they were so excited.
Then he heard someone say, ‘Jesus of Nazareth’.
As he grew up, Bartimaeus had been taught that many years before, God had promised King David that someone from his family would one day be King forever.
Bartimaeus knew in his heart that Jesus was this King, and that he could make him see.
