CRITICAL MOMENT
Conclusions Petroleum system developed in central and southern Altiplano basin, is made up by source rocks of “El Molino and Chaunca” Formations (Cretaceous) reservoir rocks of the “Tambillo” (Tertiary) and Seal Rock in the Potoco y Santa Lucia Fm. (Terciary). However, Silurian, Ordovician and Devonian rocks, could also be involved in hydrocarbons generation. Anticlines with roll over in Cretaceous and Tertiary rocks are common, as in Vilque, Salinas de Garci Mendoza structures ,etc. According to the structural domain type, Upper Oligocene reverse anticlines can be estructural traps for further exploratory acitivities. (By: Araníbar & Martinez, 1990). Bolivian “Altiplano” Basin has been partially investigated. Vilque well has shown trap conditions, seal rock, reservoir rock and oil migration traces. Consequently, the “Altiplano” is likely to contain hydrocarbons where Cretaceous rocks are preserved. Structural model is represented by pre-rift extensional Faults (Upper Paleozoic) that were formed by tectonic inversion during the Andean compression. As per, the last geological reports, an atractive area constitute the region called Fault Thrust Belt “Faja Plegada y Corrida de Huarina” which is located near to the Eastern Cordillera.
