explores various manifestations and expressions of urban culture: COMICS, PHOTOGRAPHY, ILLUSTRATION, DRAWING, SCULPTURE, DESIGN, FASHION, VIDEO, ETC… The launch of JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON 2009 is also the launch of www.janelaurbana.clix.pt’s forth version (v4), which was set online on last February 9th, presenting a renewed image, new subjects, more interactivity and lots of suggestions to explore on and off-line. JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON 2009 joins renowned and emergent creative, challenged to project their personal vision as urban culture agents. Thanks to the success of the first edition, again this year, we propose an associated program that includes workshops, presentations and thematic encounters.

SUBJECTS 2009 EXHIBITION JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON materializes through an exhibition the digital universe of Janela Urbana and, at YRON, brings together a showcase of creative and projects that illustrate what we call urban culture. For the second edition of this project we assume the “janela” (in English window) as the aggregator object of this year’s venue, challenging creative to inhabit and open to public’s eyes their own urban window. A base object – the window – will be supplied in raw and the same for all participants. Afterwards each creative may project a new object representing his own artistic language. The exhibition will result as a urban landscape of windows, built inspired by the image of city’s urbanistic park, where each window is unique and representative of the individuality of its owner. All urban windows in the exhibition or the objects presented inside them will be available for public sale.

MAGNETIC WALL The city is a magnetic field, which attracts and repulses trends, languages and cultures. The urban landscape of windows which complet JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON opens with a magnetic wall, unifying the creative flow of our new city, ideal and creative. Using magnetic wall ink, and magnetic material, creative are invited to personalize magnets for this magnetic wall. Magnets will be produced in limited

editions

and

will

be

also

available

for

public

sale,

on

a

affordable and unique price but without identification of the author. The visitor will only know the author of the magnet once its bought is made, the package of each magnet will be identified by the name of its author.

The magnetic wall’s purpose is of counteracting the artistic selection based only in authorship, fostering a personal and uncompromised choice, triggered

by

the

relationship

and

personal

identification

established

between who buys and the artistic object.

PROGRAMMATION JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON 2009 will have an associated programmation, aiming public participation and interest. O ETERNO (in English the eternal) is the guiding theme of owr workshops, encounters and presentations.

“Sê plural como o Universo” (be plural as the Universe), said Fernando Pessoa and we quote this poet to frame the concept of the eternal, that on JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON gathers the moments provided to our visitors. While there is life we are eternal and is on the plurality of the lived experiences that we approach it – the eternal.

JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON 2008 / 1st edition

Between March and April of 2008, Janela Urbana invaded YRON for the fist time and both merged on the production of an exhibition inspired by www.janelaurbana.clix.pt cultural and interactive universe. Janela Urbana and YRON share the same culture, the so called

URBAN

CULTURE, and both have the objectives: stimulate creative renewal and promote new talents. From this fusion,JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON was borned. JANELA URBANA LIVE’s project was materialized during a month and a half of exhibition at YRON, where were presented both ON and OFF line dynamics, with

“Meshes and Threads”, a workshop of modern crafts techniques by the fashion designer Susana Bettencourt, and, last but not the least, “Urban Trends”, a session with the trend specialist Inês Castelo Branco that challenged participants to discover and define their own trends inspired by international trend books. JANELA URBANA LIVE at’YRON’s 1st edition was closed with an acoustic music show by Eléctrico28.

JANELA URBANA The project today known as “Janela Urbana” was born seven years ago. First named “Xfera” stated to be an “online technological and cultural sphere”. In 2005, the extinguished Xfera gave birth to Janela Urbana,

a

website

entirely

dedicated

to

cultural

subjects and urban trends. The purposes of Janela Urbana are: promote culture, disclose young creative and what it calls “world” – the urban world -, in Portugal and within all countries of Portuguese expression.

JANELA URBANA JANELA URBANA presents itself as a Cultural Digital Communication Organ, in this concept approaches every subject related to urban culture concept. Its editorial statement is based on the principle that everyone

is,

somehow,

an

artist,

enhancing

the

promotion of ideas and concepts related to culture and cultural issues. At JANELA URBANA, all subjects are intersected and users challenged to search culture and art itself, triggering

movement,

action

and

dynamics

into

the

cultural Portuguese scene.

YRON EARTH IS A GIANT MAGNET and YRON is its magnetic field, an attraction pole between expressions, languages and culture. YRON is a cultural space in Lisbon, a pole of creative magnetic

attraction

that

promotes

collective

and

transdisciplinary expressions within art, design and communication. Inspired

by

“iron”

material,

YRON

is

a

pole

of

expression and exhibition that attracts magnetic bodies –

the

creatives

artists, artisans

they

illustrators, and

all

the

designers,

who

work

architects, musicians, in
