The Genius Bar Is Now Open! The iJB Genius Bar is now open for business! Six students will run the Genius Bar on a Monday during KS4 and 5 lunch and also after school on a Tuesday 3:15 to 4:15. So if you have a problem with your mobile or tablet device, make an appointment by emailing the address above with your name, date you would like to attend and what the problem is. There will also be workshops run by the Geniuses on how to use Apps. So if you are not sure how to use KeyNotes, or you are unsure how to get the best out of Google Earth, you can book on to one of the workshops by including this in your email. Soon you will be able to tell who the Geniuses are as they will have pin badges on and teachers might want to use them to lead some of the learning in lessons if you are using BYoD or the iPad Mini’s.
In Lessons Mr Williams in Mathematics has been using an App called “Maths Zombies”. He has been using it as “a reward at the end of lessons for those students who have done well and finished their work.” The game is educational and and gives students quick fire sums to complete. This helps the students practice mental maths. The game adjusts the difficulty automatically so it will get harder if students are answering the easy questions correctly. The following is taken from iTunes: “The power of the App is the ability to adjust the child’s learning age and ability and to focus in on the appropriate lessons. Adjust the desired skill level you want your child to learn and practice at. This learning tool is designed to grow with your child as his/her skills improve through fun exercises that promotes a passion for learning.
App of The Fortnight The Google App for Apple and Android allows you to search for anything on the go. It also has voice detection for searching. As well as this, you can access your Google Drive and work on your documents anywhere you can get an Internet connection.
