I love watching commuters and immigrants exchanging in the Transit Market from my penthouse. It reminds me of my hardworking mother who made dresses for Canadian women when we came here from Lebanon. Salah Bachir philanthropist, patron of the arts

We love setting up shop at the Transit Market on Thursdays. For us, it is more than our breads. It is about connecting with people, about building community. We draw people in with our bread. We believe our bread builds community. St. John’s Bakery, provides job training for social service clients, refugees, single parents, people struggling with addictions, mental illness, poverty and much more
The Immigrant Café is a community of immigrant entrepreneurs at all levels of experience and expertise – whether they are at the exploratory stage of starting their first venture in Canada or are already well-established and looking to expand further.
When we came here from Syria in 2009, we weren’t sure if we could really open a pastry business. Crown Pastries has been successful for nine years, and we’re about to open our second shop on Restaurant Row.The best part is that we can get to work via train thanks to the new station. Gateway Enhancing thresholds between social-ecological systems of site Student:
Yuanyuan Li Chufei Qiu Type: Landscape architecture Professor: Fredrick Pearsall Time: Aug to Nov, 2017
The location of this place is the center of the campus. A lot of thhings happening here: bus station, uber station, food truck, dinning, communication. Yet such a good place dodesns't have a proper name for all those functions.
This design aimed to create a thermal comforter Gate way for all the potiential people who would visit the campus. By using energy analyze, wind analyze and other date about this space, the significent landscape was combined with the landscape architecture, together they are not just a beautiful landmark in campus, but also a device to collect rain water and a sheilding system. There are three main road across the whole site and the main pedestrian flow pass through these three roads. What we are going to do is to improve the connection of these segments and provide more opportunities to people during each of two destinations in our site. Since this site is a kind of “gateway” or “entrance” for the east campus, it is lack of identity obviously. What we can do is to add some new programs as triggers to activate this whole site and let people realize that there is such a place which provide some basic functions they need and lead them to the next following destinations in the campus.
The first one is in the front of Architecture West Building, which has a lot of natural canopies and seems like a “private” space for people. It is relative quite compare with other area in the site. The micro-climate is very different with other two parts. We need to find a balance way to let those “giant trees” benefit for our micro-site. The second one is the left part of the lawn which divided by the middle small path. This place is busier than the previous one, and there are no any special things happened on that part. It is just like an “empty” public space and less people would like to stay there. The third one is the busiest part in our site, there are two main roads across by it and it seems like the “main gate” for the east campus when people come through the 4th street. Not only pedestrian pass through this area but also the school buses, food trucks, staff vehicles, and other private vehicles.

Maker's Park -- define a new connection for living and working Student:
Yuanyuan Li Shiyang Zhai Jose Luis Type: Mixed use buildingn Professor: Charles,Rudolph Time: Jan to May, 2017
Now days in Atlanta, the area in south downtown is "non-place". A lot of the ground area are used as parking lot. Nearly no one want to hang out on broad street, except when some events are held there. So we propose to bring the life back to the broad st, to achieve this goal we have to find a new connection between living and working. Social cohesion Within the current framework of modern city, we want to use design to create a massive agglomeration of layers upon layers. People and interests, services and exchange, also memory, culture and heritage. The overlapping layers also are created between residential spaces, exhibition spaces and working spaces. These are the spaces of the in-between, devoid of meaning, activities and interaction. Unclaimed spaces that belong to no one.The opportunity at hand is to transform these unused spaces into individual spaces to everyone. Spaces that belong to no one become the place where you belong.Where the city dissolves around you. Along with the hustle and bustle of everyday life.A place where you can simply be your personal pocket within the city. Where you can leave the city behind.

The Project's location is in Shilaoren of Qingdao, which is a famous tourist resort with beautiful sandbeach and limpid sea water. The south of the project is ocean. This site is close to the cultural center of Laoshan district in Qingdao but surrounded with significent natural environment. When I first saw this location, I was deeply touched by the natural scene. Thus the most important design principle is to make the architecture to set off the nature scenery. This project is a remodeling design of the culture center. It is focused on exposing values of the landscape and expanding recreational offer for residents of city. I hope when people go to this cultral center, they can not only appreciate the masterpiece made by people, but also be attracted by the magnificence of nature.

[Endowing the old with the New]
The renewal of historical district----a design of community center Individual work Academic work Spring,2015 Location:Qingdao,China
People living in the historical area have many living problems.Their basic need can't be satisfied by the old facilities. The deficiency of green land, square and the public space have made negative effects on their life. When I started to design, I tried a lot of ways to solve the above problems. In my viewpoint, the most important part of people's life is taking part in activities in public spaces. Because people in modern society feel more lonly than people in the past, espicially the elder ones. In old city area, elders often live alone or with their partners, they have to stay at home because there is no proper places for them to have fun.

Old building
The aim of this design is to build a public place for citizens to live in the old city, giving them a chance to meet and communicate to differnt people.A huge semi-translucent roof covers this public space, keeping the rain out. And a lot of trees will grow up between the architecture.
The old building used to be local people's home, but they are out dated as living house. So these space are disigned to restaurant, store and hotel for tourists. The new archithcture is close to the old, prople can see both of them in some perspective.

Dormitry district
This is a school library located in a small woods, which has a lots of trees and a beautiful lawn. The aim of this design is try to dissolve the boundary between the interior space and the nature environment around the building.By minimizing the formal language of its architecture, the new school library can capture the textures of the existing trees and the books within it to create a cohesive experience that celebrates both.
