RESIDENTIAL FLOOR LAYOUT
FROM UNIT TO PLAN The residential floors are separated from the public floors by a service floor level. The residential floors themselves consist of a combination in 1, 2, and 3- bedroom apartments. The layout is planned to allow for the privacy of the residents and also to enable combining multiple units to cater to large extended families. A terrace garden/ greenhouse is dedicated to the residents of the complex, in addition to the public greenhouse on the first floor. 09

02. Omotesando Architecture Center & Boutique Hotel 2020 Spring / Team with Leo Liu / Instructor : Professor Botond Bognar The site is located at the intersection of Omotesando blvd and Aoyama Dori - one of the busiest areas in Tokyo, Japan. Behind the commercial buildings, there are temple shrine, cemetery and low-rise residences. Such conditions require the design to maintain a quiet atmosphere while competing with the buildings around. To achieve the goal, the design aimed to take advantage of the facade to echo the context. Programmatically, the lower levels include reception, bookstore and lecture hall which are circulated as a loop between the three sites. The mid levels perform as a hotel, above that are entertainment and dining venues.

Kathmandu Valley Analysis Kathmandu Valley is situated in the northeast of Nepal, at an average height of 1350 metres above sea level. It is surrounded by four mountain ranges: Shivapuri hills, Phulchowki, Nagarjun and Chandragiri. The major river flowing through the Kathmandu Valley is the Bagmati. The valley is a cultural and political hub of Nepal. 32

Space Prototype
There are numbers of migrants scattered in every corner. Therefore, the first step is to gather them. After that, the migrants can be distributed to different communities based on their background. The social interaction between the communities are essential. The idea is to have different functional spaces within each neighborhood that allow people from outside to come. In this case, the new communities can adapt to the city and create a positive environment.
Initial Concept
The modular building is easily constructed and assembled. It is composed of several panels with wood columns and beams. Moreover, the flexible structure allows the users to adjust and expand their living space by their needs. The centralized floor plan offers an inner activity space to the residents and the community. 34

04. Bubble Link The City Link Competition - Shortlisted 2019 / Competition / Team with Shiyu Hu and Taisuke Loren Wakabayashi Civilizations were made when humans were able to mobilize large distances. The places we live in are becoming larger in scale every day and to mobilize people, transportation has to evolve with it. Cities began to be reshaped more harshly to serve the growing need of vehicles. Consequently, leaving no space for the pedestrians and cyclists, where human activities took place majorly, at a much slower pace. In this competition, the challenge is to design a bridge for pedestrians and cycling that is not limited in its absolute function. The design aims to utilize the bridge as a powerful public space as well as a pioneer for tourists or first-time cyclists to explore the city.
42
04 // Conceptual Bubble Link
Unconventional
Organic
A bridge does not have to open vertically. It can instead employ horizontal opening structure, just like bubbles floating on water can move freely. In this way, it conserves the space with the conventional design it has been failing to take advantage of.
A bridge does not have to be rectilinear. Either is circulation within. Imitating random organic movements of bubbles. The proposed bridge pulses and romanticizes the idea of what a bridge form can be.

The separation of circulation between pedestrians and cyclists guarantees the safety of pedestrians. Yet, the design also provides a “transportation hub” where cyclists can park their bikes and have access to all the programs for visitors. Moreover, the circulation for pedestrians is organically designed for people to define their own routes and narratives.

05. Other Works Stage Design
Stage Design / Digital Visualization / Sketch Apart from architecture, I’m also interested in Art and Set Design. I love drawing and sketching. I believe sketching and drawing are the most powerful tools to communicate ideas. My enthusiasm in drawing has come to be awarded a Malcolm Jaseph Scholarship. Additionally, I worked as a set designer before I came to Architecture School. From 2015 to 2018, I designed 5 shows in the Illinois Theatre. These valuable experiences lay the foundation for me to become an architect.

Digital visualization - La Muralla Roja With the advancement of technology, architecture had moved into the digital world. I believe visualizing the architecture design into graphical form allows viewers to focus on specific features or essence of the forms without the distraction of photorealism. The illustrations use La Muralla Roja as a case study to explore the color theory and the spatial arrangement.
