This peoject will supply an utopia to young artisit who come from different place or just graduate from univeristy. The different work place could be supplied to young people, including music studio, architecture studio. Meanwhile, practice room and a small projection room can be used by performing artist. A exhibition space is set in level five, which is a stage and chance for young people. Certainly, this tiny gallery also welcome visitors from the city. A serious of public space were set on each floor’s roof. The irregular terrace enrich the exterior and vertical space in the building. In this project, users are encouraged to walk out their office and share the terrace. For artist, it is a chance to talk and make new friend. Different stylist inspiration could wipe out the collsion, the most creative idea.

THE VILLAGE The artist community is designed for young artists. Mantova is an ancient city that attract large numbers of young artists to travel here every year. However, there is no enough space for them to communicate, and to enjoy their life in Mantova. We had well analysed the site and we found here could be a good place for people to walk to the city and other art colleges and exhibition places. People could find complete function in the village, such as accommodation, restaurant, training room and theatre for performing artist. The village will offer some studios to artists. They can rent these rooms and found their own studios. People can spent 24 hours in this village. We hope that this village can attract more young artists. Artist can share their experience and be inspired at Mantova. The village can attract more local residents to enjoy art. This city will be a real university for everyone.

05 PROJECTS IN a+ DESIGN (ART HOTEL, 109 FOVEAUX ST) The modulation of the facade is sympathetic to the established development pattern of the existing street wall in the Surrey Hills Area. Vertically proportioned elements expressing the vernacular nature of the narrow frontages is presented to Foveaux Street, breaking down the scale of the proposed building to a human level. Smaller sub elements further emphasis the vertical proportion within the overall facade are articulated at varying depths and heights to provide relief and visual interest contributing to the evolving architectural landscape. The facade elements provide opportunity for light and shadow to manifest in a number of ways providing an active element to the otherwise static form. This variety of form is further layered with a considered material palette which complements the form of the building and the role in plays in the overall elevation to Foveaux Street.
