DESIGN CONCEPT

Suzhou, known as the city of gardens, was an outstanding representative of ancient city planning. However, facing problems such as traffic congestion and housing shortage in modernization is inevitable.

Suzhou gardens well reflect the harmonious relationship between architecture and gardens. Its artistic conception is primarily shaped by miniaturizing the scenery, mountains, lakes, bridges, and forests in another form, such as organic composition. The way of designing a garden is as same as the way of drawing a landscape printing.

DESIGN VISION

For the original historical buildings, mushroom columns are used to elevate the wooden structures and replace them with translucent exterior walls to weaken the original robust enclosure.

For the surrounding open space, the organic combination of mushroom columns is used to create a sensory experience of "between the forests", providing a relaxing public space in this crowded and busy old city. Shadow Garden of Twin Pagoda
