Roofs village -overlapping Kiruna-
Superioir Works 9. 2014 ~ 12. 2014 / Studio work, term 1 at KTH area: Kiruna, Sweden / 6,800 sqm function: Apartments, Hotel and Shops
This project proposes new type of complex of houses and other function for new Kiruna. With keeping the spatial quality of Kiruna, the roofs for each function get together and overlapped. These condensed spaces which are including the variety of inside and outside space offer fertile lightings and sequences to visitor and residents. The site of the project is facing to the big city park and the new main street that leads to the new city center. Because of those contexts and the factors in extreme environment in arctic region, the buildings and landscapes in flocks generates their own unique shape for each. The flock looks like one village, one topography. And it makes the “border for every direction so that you can decide where private - public is.

Superioir Works 10. 2011 ~ 1. 2012 / Studio work, term 8 ( directed by Chiaki Arai ) area: Omotesando, Tokyo / 17,000 sqm function: Theater (Cultural art complex)
This is the project from the bachelor’s studio which requires us to design the cultural theater including public hall. The whole site has a pitch and each direction is facing to vary functions such as museum and graveyard. From my survey, I defined this place as where you can look up/down surroundings and nature in the central Tokyo. By using the design language “ 塀 ” (Hei), I tried to design the proper connection of each functions in complexity and the bridges among the ordinary, the extraordinary and even the outside space. The dramatic slope to the foyer takes people to the higher view and generates the wide public park underneath. This theater in round shape is surrounded by fertile diversity –wide sky, precious view, beautiful garden etc.- and responding to them, so that people can relax and enjoy not only the concert but also everything around this theater.

Hibarigaoka Apartment - Live in a city house -
1. 2014 ~ 6. 2014 / Measurement of existing bulding, Schematic design area: Hibarigaoka, Tokyo / 120 sqm function: Apartment for families, singles, and couples
This is the project which will be implemented in a city of Tokyo. We measured the existing building, and proposed the restoration first. But due to the cost we decided to design a whole new building here, which has 6 houses. Every studier of my Lab. proposed his/her own schematic design for this project. My proposal is to design the apartment, which include the several type of houses such as for a single, for a couple, for a family and for sharing. It's because in this town the demands for building and style for living are quite various. I tried to make the space and experience as if there is one city under one roof. A massive volume has the clear approaches with voids that give you light, wind and shared space. Everything is connected to the patio, so people feel like they are living a city.

This is the project I helped the some schematic design and details as an internship. And this is for either the office of the engineering of the software and the apartment of students who will work as engineers. The client is the president of this office and the owner of the apartment we designed this time, and also has been teaching at the university located near from the site of this project. He wanted to position this building in the role of “third-place” for the students of the university and people from the town surrounding this place, in order to get the opportunity of a new product development with the local residents. I was in charge of the design of big opening with greens for the common staircase, and the schematic design of the ground floor, which should be connected to the street and 1st floor as if this is expansion of the street or city so that people feel free to visit this building as their “third place”. In this project, we tried to redefine the balcony of apartment as the bridge among the public and private, which would be called “common space” and shared with residents 3-dimensionally. We tried to achieve the apartment where “connected” is regarded as the positive value, unlike recent apartment ignores its value.

Along the Seascape -Jogashima nature art museum4. 2012 ~ 7. 2012 / Diploma (Bachelor) area: Jogashima island, Miura / 6,400 sqm function: Nature and Art museum
Model of whole plan of buildings The aim of this project is to make a whole new seascape with architecture for the visitors walk around the seaside in Jogashima Island. The landscape along the coast is always changing and has a lot of diversity. But this kind of nature is so huge that people seldom focus the small phenomena in it. The architecture has the possibility to design the experience in much smaller and also more precise situation, in the architectural scale. The buildings are the observatory and the museum of the nature along the coast, where you can observe and experience the nature of the island physically and spatially. The master plan is based on the path belongs to the prefectural park, and the buildings are scattered beside the coastline so that you can visit them with many sequences of the seascape. I tried to make the buildings fit to the surrounding nature as if it’s melting into the nature, like a part of the ecosystem. The changing ocean makes the space unstable and attractive, by being the device of the light, the sound, the volume etc.

Aproach to tide level In the museum for cliff you can experience the vertical aproach to the ocean. You can experience the sound of ocean as you go down to the tide level, with watching limited scenery in the narrow flames. Architecture provides the particular fileter for observing the nature.
Observatory gives installation By using the concrete material, the lights come from the reflection of the sea water reflects on the wall as well, then they are always changing slightly, irregularly. Space with the nature can be an installation like this space.
The museum for shore melting in the nature
This is the furniture project all by students, I did the design and we did the construction. The Okuyama Lab. had the shortage of the storage for the model making tools on that time. And we had to add more capacity for “the book boxes, even though they were already covering the interior entirely with a particular module. Therefore I took the initiative to start this project of new storage furniture. Firstly we re-layout the shelves piled up like one shelve as solving a puzzle, and figured out what is the demands exactly. In the end we made a shelf designed particularly for the spray cans. Plus, we solved the problem for the earthquake by adding the new book boxes touching the ceiling in existing module so that tall furniture would be fixed between the ceiling and the floor. The furniture consists of six boxes is both the prototype as the expanded model in twice module, and the storage for the tools for the office works.
