In life, you just have to keep going, no matter what happens because nothing good will come if you quit. You need to carry on if you want to reap the rewards. Regardless of where existence leads you, if you give up, you lose and miss every opportunity you never take. So what can you do to persevere?
How do you find the strength to keep moving forward? In what way do you overcome pain, rejection, disappointment or failure? How not to give up when everything seems against you? 1/4
No one likes pain since it has the capacity to stop us dead in our tracks. Shame restricts us. Rejection discourages our spirit. Disappointment even makes many of us check out of the game and give up. But the difference between success and failure is the will to keep going. It is the determination that makes you rise and carry on when you fall. You lose focus, but you concentrate and persist. It is when you lose your way, but you find a new direction and move forward. Of course, there will be moments in your life when you will fail or fall. You will have periods where you will have little or no strength left to keep going. There will be instances when you have no self-confidence left to carry on. And yet, when such things happen, you need to make an effort to recall the reason which made you begin in the first place. Therefore, to keep going no matter what happens, you may have to look for those images in your mind. You might have to dig deep down into your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings that once gave you so much power, courage, and self-assurance to follow your ideas and dreams.
Take the Hit and Keep Going It does not matter how difficult life is, never give up is the key. You should never let go of your hopes, dreams, and desires. No one can tell you to give up on that which you stand for or believe in. The coming of difficulties is not a reason to stop and end what you are trying to accomplish. You have to keep going and break the pattern of remaining stuck on problems, struggling with them, dissecting them, and getting consumed by them. Sometimes this analysis is not helping you at all. To analyze circumstances is great when you want to learn from them, but to dwell on your issues is a great disservice. It is always easier to dissect situations than it is to move on.
“The world is not all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place, and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it is not how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That is how winning is done…” – Rocky Balboa
Life Keeps On Moving so Keep Going Yes, it is true, pain, fear, and failure can be undeniable paralyzing feelings. When you are in pain or hurt, all you want is the entire world to stop turning. Or when you feel rejected, you wonder what could be wrong with you, and you begin building resentment. You want to give in rather than keep going. But the one thing that is unfortunate about life is that it keeps on moving. It goes on no matter what happens in your life. And so, you have to carry on also, persevere, if you want to do yourself an excellent service.
“If you can’t fly then run; if you can’t run then walk; if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Get Back Up and Keep Going Perhaps, the fact of the matter is that you got happy and excited about an incident, chance, opportunity or even possibility which did not work out the way you planned. You fell in love with someone who did not feel the same as you did. And it just did not happen because that is life. 2/4
The solution here is not to over-analyze why it happened or if you are good enough. It is rather to get back up and keep going. You need to prove to yourself that you can do it no matter what life throws at you. It means taking risks, the ones you are afraid of making and get back out there. Take risks, if you succeed you win, and if you lose, you learn. You have to realize that for every eight times you hit, you strike out of the park at least once. But that one hit may just be worth all the smashes in the world. But if you do not keep going and allow your failures to defeat you, you are never going to realize the potential you have. You have to let fiascos, disappointments, and disasters be events along your journey in life. Persevere rather than letting these feelings conquer you. If you ever feel pain, shame, discomfort or even rejection, well, just keep going.
“If you are going through hell, keep going” – Winston Churchill
Most of us often have a strong tendency to downplay the good things that happen to us, for fear of being arrogant, bragging or even jinx our mojo. Nothing about that is right.
4 Techniques to Keep Going and Stay Motivated To keep going and stay motivated, here are four techniques which I practice to invite more good and positive into your life.
1. Always Welcome the Good Times Be careful with what you say to your inner-self and others around you when great things happen. Time and again, you might hear yourself say: "Impossible!", "No way!" or “Not true.” As an answer to pleasant or good things, you did not expect. Rather say something like "Yes. Thank you. More of it please; so keep it coming my way." Always remember to be grateful and give credits when due. You should never underestimate the power the words “I am,” “I can” and "Yes" do have. Use them again and again while welcoming the good into your life and keep going.
2. Pay Close Attention to Your Feelings You have to remember that enthusiasm, excitement, happiness, pleasure, and joy are tremendously valuable to you. Breathe every aspect of these emotions deeply into your being and say to yourself: "Yes. I welcome this feeling of bliss. It is who I am." When you want to stay motivated and keep going, it is essential to tell only people who have the desire to celebrate your successes and victories with you. Do not share your happiness with anyone who is not willing to give you unconditional support and satisfaction for what has happened.
3. Create a Chronicle of Your Successes Create a chronicle of your victories, successes, favorite memories and positive experiences. Make a combination of photos and notes to reinforce all the emotional memories further. You could also create a photo album dedicated on what you want to remember. From time to time, you should review these notes and photos, to keep the memories fresh and alive. The emotions of these past experiences are a great resource to keep going and have a positive attitude and outlook. Then picture and visualize a future that is beyond anything you have ever dreamed of or wished for. 3/4
4. Be Optimistic and Keep Going No Matter What You have to know that there will be mountains and valleys and long, endless stretches of rain and sunshine to travel down along the journey ahead. It will not be easy, but it is possible if you carry on. So, be optimistic and keep going no matter what happens and realize that any dirt that is sticking to your shoes will tumble and fall off along the way. Pick up your feet and move on. Use the example of many successful people before you who are an excellent example of what the human spirit can achieve if you never give up but persist, and keep moving, no matter how slow you go. Therefore, keep going and do not stop until you get to the finish line.
